  • I have finished reading The Remains of the Day and have opinions! But get this: I've actually read a second book since the last video. Of Mice and Men is the book in question. But what did I think?
Once I'm done waffling on about my most recent reads, I get onto talking about some non-fiction books I am looking forward to getting to sooner rather than later.
Please note: this was recorded before Christmas and I'm just getting around to uploading it now. It's a long story; I won't bore you with it now but if you're interested I'll cover it in the next video.
    Books discussed:
The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
The Lost Continent by Bill Bryson
Adventures in the Screen Trade by Jon Ronson
    On Writing by Stephen King
Adventures in the Screen Trade by William Goldman
The Unmapped Mind by Christian Donlan
It Never Ends by Tom Scharpling

You remind me that I need to finish Remains of the Day! I'm not sure I can see Anthony Hopkins as Steven but since I love him in practically everything I see him in, I will remain optimistic in the meantime 😁
And Monk!!! Haven't heard it mentioned for ages, loved that show when it was on! Thanks for the nostalgia 💫

I thought it was such a powerful book, it really got its hooks into me. And yes to Monk! So good!

Woo, first comment - so my question is, what kind of book do you think you’d write? Genre wise and sort of story ideas?

I don’t want to give too much away in terms of story just in case I actually do something about it one day! However, the two main ideas I had previously would probably be described as thrillers I guess.
It seems that I maybe lack the discipline to actually sit down and get words down on the page. Maybe one day!

      @ I’ll be ready for that day…
