Year 1903: A Norwegian, Ægidius Elling, was able to build the first gas turbine that was able to produce more power than needed to run its own components, which was considered an achievement in a time when knowledge about aerodynamics was limited. Using rotary compressors and turbines it produced 11 hp (massive for those days). His work was later used by Sir Frank Whittle.

I mean there is the M 1 abrams tank which uses a turbine engine and that is still used today

They need to move away from turbine. In a modern battlefield, the M1 is a massive target. Loud, HOT, and a fuel pig.

@@TravisPrybylskiThe m1 isn't that loud. It is when you're right next to it, but the sound falls off quick. It's actually scary quiet when compared to other tanks.

Well a jet engine can run on anything flammable so…. It’d kinda work haha

I'm having some trouble with the distributor on my 1988 Opel Kadett man, can you make a video on explaining what the function etv of different car parts such as said distributor? It would honestly help so many people to understand a bit better what's going on in their cars. Thanks man, love your videos, been watching from the start

Ford and Chevy made turbine trucks in 1964 and 1965. The Ford and Chevy turbine trucks name are Ford Big Red, Chevy Tubro Titan 3. Chevy made 2 model before the Chevy Turbo Titan 3 are Chevy Turbo Titan 1 and 2. The Ford Big Red, Chevy Turbo Titan 3 are COE ( Cab Over Engine ). Both of them are concepts to showed the future of turbine.

Hydrogen would be great but it's very dangerous as well having a turbine engine that could run on peanut oil and getting the car accident it doesn't blow up like hydrogen

😮 you're wrong Chrysler was told to destroy them because they would have had to pay an ungodly amount of taxes on them Chrysler didn't built the engine they were built over in Italy imported over here and they would have had to pay an ungodly amount of taxes that's why them cars were destroyed and a few private collectors do on them cars like Jay Leno

You're dead wrong on your research those engines were produced all the way up to 1983 and if the technology would have been around today and had kept being produce they would have put the electric companies out of business and it would have put the gasoline companies out of business or let's say the oil companies and quite honestly it probably would have put a lot of mechanics out of business and had very few problems and way less moving parts and the reason they were destroyed was because the engines were imported from Italy Chrysler never made the engines over here government ordered them to destroy the engines or pay taxes on them

They should have been jet cars ran on anything anything that burned you could run in a jet engine do you understand what that means no more gasoline you could have used VO5 hairspray and drove down the road a bottle of tequila didn't matter the one that they did build drove for well over a million miles with no problems why do you think the government mandated that they destroyed them they would have changed the world and they would have put a lot of oil tycoon oil would have been useless Electric Company electric cars would have been useless you could have simply put rubbing alcohol which is super cheap to produce in your car and cuss what zero missions people zero and Chrysler actually found a way to cast the turbines Do you want to build a car for the future bring back the Chrysler turbine engine solves all your missions problems all your energy problems most certainly puts all the oil companies out of business you don't need to burn oil in these things
