Changes To Cantonments Act Must Benefit Deprived Residents, Says Activist

The Government has brought a draft Bill to amend the Cantonments Act, which has been posted for comments and suggestions on the MoD website. Sunil Maske, a Maharashtra based activist from the Cantonment Jan Adhikar Manch, says that the underprivileged living in cantonment areas have long been deprived of the benefits of government schemes. Maske, who spoke with GoNews' Anjali Ojha, is asking for more democratic processes in cantonment boards so that these deprived sections can be covered under state schemes as well
