I heard out of his own mouth via youtube that he did not support the idea of leaving the Church or deny that there was a pope. He compared it to if one has a bad Father , that the father doesnt cease to be his father. We must pray to God for a Catholic Pope who follows the teachings of the Catholic Church. It is a bit of Protestantism to leave the bosom of Mother Church.

Thanks in big part to R and R, even if we had a true Pope as soon as he declared something that somebody wouldn't agree with, they would just disregard him as a bad dad. We really have no idea anymore how to treat a true Pope.

Saint Vincent of Lerins, in Commonitory, teaches that one MUST cling to Tradition and resist all novelties.

@@midlifecrisis6967 Not to mention that he even celebrated the Novus Ordo in the early days of it's promulgation (1969-1971), but stopped because he began to realize that the new council (which he indeed had signed) and the new mass (which he indeed once celebrated, and yes that is a correct term when addressing the Novus Ordo, aka the "Celebration of the 'Mass'") were irreconcilable with Tradition. He's not perfect, but in the end he fulfilled his vow as a Priest and as a Bishop of the Church, for he defended the Mass and the Sacraments and the Priesthood so that they may continue, at least until restoration is achieved. God willing, that day is closer and closer as time moves on.

I was confirmed by His Grace Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and blessed personally by John Paul ll. It was a strange experience being blessed by John Paul ll because I thought only of Archbishop Lefebvre during the blessing. I know which person was closer to the Catholic faith and it was the French Archbishop. Still John Paul ll did truly care for the disabled and was opposed to abortion. Unfortunately he also was wrong in his actions at Assisi in October 1986. Hopefully he repented of it just before he died.

I’m not a sede. But pure sedevacantism as such is absolutely a tenable position that a true believing Catholic can hold without sin. It is a question of academia rather than theology
I would also like that the reverend priest to talk a little about the influence of the French Action and the Maurrasianism condemned by Pius XI in the traditionalist moviment, particulamrnet among the French clergy of the SSPX.
This still lingers or exists in what is perceived.

I like Abp. Lefebvre very much and did never hear a sedesvacantist speak about him. You spoke with much respect. This video was wonderful and makes me think in a time that even I as anybody who was traditionalist during his whole life doesn't understand. I am very impressed. If you are right or not I can't tell you. But continue with this respect of the difficult personality of Abp. Lefebvre. The disrespect of your position with the words you have presented from your ennemies is inacceptable.

It's about who has the keys to the local parishes, and that would be the bishops appointed by Rome, but I'd rather have a true mass in a cave than a false mass with false beliefs in the now desecrated Basilica of Saint Peter. I don't see that there is anything to negotiate with the Vatican.

I haven't watched the entire video and I'm not very knowledgeable about Catholicism in general, but do sedevacantists deny the Catechism of the Catholic Church since it came after Vatican II?
The new CCC was explicitly made to promulgate the pastoral innovations of Vatican II. It's in the foreword even. There was no intention of delivering clear or authentic doctrine. It was more like "what the party says now about how things stand, but tomorrow it may be different". And it already is.

What I despise are the ones that condem the others and do not sift the wheat from the weeds. Even the “Novus Ordo” Faith of the non-doctrinal Vatican council II has some real fruit that is ignored, to their detriment and the salvation of their members of the traditional brotherhood rites.
In these truly dark times , we can see clearly that Rome has lost the faith .

Most people stumbling upon crisis, when they start to have sedevacantist leanings usually harden in their views. Lefebvre seemed to adopt many sedevacantist views... Why the later compromise, why did he back down?!? Was it all planned, to capture poor would be traditional souls?

No, they went full bore into the project ("full BORE" being doubly appropriate for the turgid, sleep-inducing prose) and would have great difficulty backing away from their hit piece.
It is clear, now, with the SSPX cheerfully chirping about how it's close to a suicidal union with Modernist Rome (Abp. Lefebvre's term), that the authors' primary purpose in demonizing sedevacantists is to limit the number of people who escape Bp. Fellay as he drags the group's followers to impending doom, to get them to fear then sedes as the "real evil", while he pushes them headlong in the tender mercies of the apostate Bergoglio, whispering how the suicide won't hurt a bit.

Dear Father Anthony, you made an excellent didactic video "nailing the coffin" of MM. Salza and Siscoe! (Thanks, by the way, for mentioning in it your humble servant!) The only problem is that, as you say, Bishop Lefebvre tended to be "all things to all men" and because of his continual "zigzagging", we have the nightmarish situation his SSPX finds itself in today: scission into 2 groups, viz. the "soft-liners" awaiting the imminent granting of a "Personal Prelature" by Frank Bergoglio, and the "hard-liners" under the leadership of Bishop Williamson rejecting any accord with "Rome" yet already split up into various factions! What a mess these non-sedevacantists are in, all due to Bishop Lefebvre's hesitations and lack of form doctrinal leadership!

His Excellency Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre is not a sedevacantist. Why? His congregation which he founded in the 70's is given canonical status by Rome. He had several communication that he will consecrate four bishops. But was not granted. Because of necessity, he consecrated the four for survival of the tridentine mass and tradition.
So in other words, he dissented from the magisterium

There is such a thing as a difference whether a layman or a bishop accepting certain things would still be a Catholic.
With a layman accepting millions and billions of years before Adam and Eve, he could be misled and misapplying certain real Catholic truths about respect for clergy. With a bishop? More like an apostate.
If you say that the un-ordained can take the Holy Eucharist in the hand, you're an Anathema (cursed by God, outside the Church).
If you say that the Holy Sacrifice of the Roman Mass can be said in the local vernacular, you are an Anathema.
If you say that the Holy Mother Church is not the one true Church, established by Jesus Christ, and that there are other churches, you're an Anathema.
The Popes since Paul VI have said these things! If you believe Paul VI to be Pope, you have to follow the Pope and be an Anathema, or you can commit the sin of disobedience to the Church. A "damned if you do, damned if you don't" dilemma and logically, this cannot be. Ergo, Sedevacantism.

I know it can be scary, but read the signs of the times. For 60 years Rome has been teaching, in word and deed, things that have been previously condemned by the Catholic Church. A few examples: freedom of religion, false ecuminism and collegiality. Study the inconsistencies. Read 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2. Do these things before you accuse this priest. When you figure it out - let me know.
Any brotherhood, like the fraternal society of saint pious the tenth, FSSPX/SSPX, has sprung from the belief of an invalid pope. Use whatever words you wish to describe it. This includes SSPV, CMRI, etc. If they began with a valid ordination by a validly and licitly bishop, then they are, at the least, valid and potentially licit.

He zigzagged all the time, on this and countless other issues. But, as I also said, by purpose was to shoot the hot air out of Salza/Siscoe/SSPX's current campaign to demonize sedevacantism. For Lefebvre, it was a tenable position for a Catholic to hold, and he himself said many things to support it.

Lefebvre's zig-zaging, this was the product of his (and everyone's then and there at Ecône) of the fact that the Vatican leaders are not popes in any sense of the word and furthermore would not become popes merely by repenting of their heresies and becoming Catholics. So he was thinking (as did many) that all Paul VI (or those coming after) would need to do is simply repent and function as a true Pope and then it would be so. To encourage this Lefebvre would profess submission to the Vatican leader like a soft-liner whenever the Vatican leader behaved in a manner (more or less) consistent with that of a real Catholic Pope, and would stand firmly against his errors like a hard-liner whenever the Vatican leader would do or say something no Catholic Pope would ever be even capable of doing or saying owing to infallibility and all that infallibility implies. Lefebvre was trying to be like the good parent who praises the child when the child is good but also punishes the child when the child is bad. But for those in the seminary who aren't following closely whatever was going on in pseudo-Rome, it must have been a real roller coaster ride.

Don't be fooled by thinking that these post V2 popes were just mentally incapable. That's Bishop Williamson's mentevacantist error. JPII was trained in a pre-Vatican II seminary. He knew abundantly well what the Catholic faith was

@Son of Christ, so what is there to realize? Does it change anything? Did Abp. demand unswerving loyalty to his personal and changing opinions and stances as a condition? If he did, then Fr. Cekada unwittingly entered a cult, but luckily escaped when he had the chance. But I doubt that Abp. did make such a demand.
