  • The NEW 2022-2024 Code of Points (CoP) were released recently and there are some changes to the elements for the floor exercise! As we know, the current lineup of floor routines for the Tokyo Olympics are difficult and I have picked the hardest routines we know of so far, to show a comparison between the old and the new CoP so everyone can see the changes and how they affect the routines better! I may have missed out a few hard routines here, but the main point was to show the changes in the D-Score between the old CoP and new CoP. Hope you guys enjoy!

    Sae Miyakawa's tumbling is so impressive, especially that Foward 1/1 + Forward Double Tuck! They really need to increase the difficulty rating of some of the front tumbles, she deserves more credit for that.

      Yes, her double front is impressive. They should definitely increase the difficulty of that skill.

      I agree. That's a pass that you would normally see in men's gymnastics. She's the only woman I've seen do a combination like that.

      @@mjamitche5245 All double fronts are valued properly though, in fact they're the only group of acrobatic elements that are.
      All D+ fwd twists need to be upgraded by 0.1 with the Maldonado (fwd 3/1) being increased to an H. Whilst the bwd 3.5 should be a G.

      agree, or E equivalent aka a D pass in combination

    • @Zuranthium

      I'd like to see .1 for D salto, .2 for E and .3 for F (can include connection bonus with minimum D salto to be considered E or F equivalent), with a minimum of 3 acro lines and the last acro line starting no earlier than 70 seconds into the routine to be eligible for bonus.

      @account366 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesmaxson2306 what about C+C+C all direct? That line would get 0.2 cv, so the total value would be 0.5 which is equal to E

    • @captainbryce1
      @captainbryce1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you explain the "dismount bonus" to me? Does this mean they get extra credit for doing a dismount of a certain level of difficulty as opposed to using the same move at the beginning of the routine?

    • @haxicle5378
      @haxicle5378 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@captainbryce1 not exactly. It’s more like they get bonus for doing a dismount of a certain level of difficulty instead opting to do an easier dismount. Like a lot of girls are beginning to do a double twist dismount on floor, which is a C rated skill and looks pretty simple. In this new code, they’re trying to encourage people to do harder dismounts by giving dismounts that are D+ rated a 0.2 bonus. So now the difference in value between doing a double twist dismount (C) or a double pike dismount (D) is 0.3 instead of 0.1.

    Floor is definitely the least changed event with the new code, hopefully wolf turn downgrades are next. I think that maybe Silivas should be G but people say that Chusovitina/Touzhikova should also be a G, I disagree because there are a lot of possible deductions for piking down so it evens out.

    • @mjamitche5245
      @mjamitche5245 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, I'm so tired of reading comments about wolf turns, I wish they would abolish them for that reason alone. However, I agree with you regarding the judges doing a better job at their job by using the deduction system they already have in place for many skills on many events.

    • @MD-722
      @MD-722 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @RaganSmith Gymnastics Wolf-turns just need to be deducted properly, not downgraded. I mean, I wouldn't oppose the downgrade, but I'd rather they just be deducted properly.
      The Silivas should be an F for seniors and a G for juniors. Because even with the double tuck being a D (which should go back down to a C), a G is *way* to high for a Silivas.
      The full-in DLO should go back down to being a G, but the full-out should be an H. I do not like that the code does not differentiate between twisting in the first and second salto because if twisting in the second salto wasn't more difficult at the very least we'd see way more full-out double tucks (which we literally see none of). It would also help to balance the code (esp on floor), increase variety of elements/connections used as well as open the door for new skills to be added (e.g a tucked Biles--which would be a D alongside the full-in tuck if the double tuck went down to a C).

    • @murasakino101
      @murasakino101 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I heard that they're making it so that people can only do one wolf turn now which is great if it's true because so many gymnasts do 2 sets in a row even with deductions just to get the extra point values smh. I agree with the chuso staying an H too since it is lo and some people pike it. Silivas should definitely be a G though. It's not easy but it's for certain the most used H element at this point

      Um duplo mortal com dupla pirueta só valer g pq os eua tem uma fábrica que obriga as atletas a treinarem esse elemento pra serem competitivas kkkkk, ñ é por conta disso que o elemento vai deixar de ser de alto grau de dificuldade, é muito difícil esse elemento, se for rebaixado, todos os elementos iriam sofrer alterações de pontos 😊

    We need to increase the connection bonus points for directly connecting two hard tumbling elements. It is crazy that Sae's front full to double front only gets 0.2 connection bonus when you can get 0.1 bonus by simply doing a leap out of a regular tumbling pass, or 0.2 for a front full step out indirectly through to a round-off back handspring double back. A C immediately to a D or higher should be at least 0.3, and a D or higher immediately through to a D or higher should be 0.4 (anyone want to try a double back to an immeidate double front ;) ? We should at least be incouraging such hard connections to be attempted.

    How come a double tuck with a full turn is E and the double double is H, and the double layout with a full turn is H and the moors is I? Like in tuck that extra twist adds 3 tenths and in a layout position it only ads 1? Is it that much easier to twist in a layout position?

      I suggest you get clued up about what artistry actually is before making such an ignorant comment because all of the above were praised not only for their artistry but even their lines, which went against the status quo of the times. Whilst some such as Dianne Durham; Camelia Voinea; Stella Umeh; Brandy Johnson and (I think) even Daiane Dos Santos were credited with introducing whole new styles of artistry to the sport whilst also showcasing great acrobatic athleticism.
