  • Awesome family getaway for Thanksgiving weekend to ride the Wolf Pen Gap OHV Trails and enjoy some unexpected late fall colors.
    We rented the Hill Top cabin from Clear Sky Ridge for the weekend and a brand new Can-Am Defender XT Max from Wolf Pen Gap ATV Rentals which is located just down the road from the cabin.
    The Wolf Pen Gap trails are not open year round and close down after Halloween each year with the exceptions of Thanksgiving and Christmas I believe. Although the actual trail system is only open seasonally, almost all of the riding seen in the video is not located on the trails that close down. Little Missouri Falls, Eagle Mountain, and Bee Mountain are all accessible year round from the county roads that surround the trail system.
    The Fourche Mountain Trails are also accessible by ATV/SXS from this area and offer additional options for trail riding although we prefer the Wolf Pen Gap trails.
    Hope you enjoy the video and subscribe for more!

    Do any ATV trail systems in Arkansas allow "on the trail" camping? Base camping and then trail riding during the day is nice, but I'm looking for what I guess is more "overland" / "ATV backpacking" options, where we can trail ride, stop and camp, etc. Thanks in advance! Great video!

    That is our favorite cabin, we stay there very often. We have to bears come visit us one night out by the campfire...LOL I did just previously cooked some steaks on the grill about 2 hours or so before the encounter.

      @@slewcrewoffroad I do cook some pretty decent steaks, I'm not sure if the bears smelled them and traced down the scent. My wife was cooking smores over the fire pit after dinner and I ran inside to use the restroom, then the two bears came by the campfire and my wife ran inside...RFLOL We take halogen lamps up there now to light up the area when needed.

    Yes, all the Maprika maps are FREE and I am updating them all the time. If the Maprika app does not work for you, you can use Avenza that the National Forest uses, but you won't get the waterfalls, lodging, cafes, points of interests like you would get with Maprika. I have added all of that to the National Forest maps and instead of being divided into different forest districts, I have put all the connected districts onto one map for Ozarks and one map for Ouachitas. The map SlewCrew is using was a map requested by the Ouachita Mountains Trail & ATV Club, to be focused on the Wolf Pen Gap and Fourche Mountain OHV Trails. BUT there is a Ouachita Mountain map that show a LOT more that shows both Arkansas and Oklahoma side. I don't focus too much on the Ouachitas (as much as I should) but the Ozarks and Mount Magazine maps is always being updated.

      @swatson1190 why does that upset you?Creates jobs for lots of locals. ATV rental companies, rental properties, local businesses, restaurants, etc. Not everyone can work at Walmart

      @@slewcrewoffroad not all tourists are like you and your family. Many of them are obnoxious. And don't appreciate our land and leaves messes and they do stupid things. And for the record I don't work at Walmart and never have. If people would take care of the places they visit and be respectful then it wouldn't be a problem at all. When CMA are here for the Changing of the Colors there are around 100,000 people that pass through Polk county. It causes problems as well as makes money. I can't even imagine what it will be like April 2024 as we are in the path of totality for the eclipse. They have already warned us that we will have shortages and other problems be cause of the sheer number of people coming here.

      @swatson1190 unfortunately that is the stereotype of the SXS community but we do our best to change that stereotype. Just be glad you don’t have the entire state of California trying to move to AR like we do in TX. Count your blessings lol

    What's your thoughts on the quadboss 446 tires on the defender? Look like they would be a good all around tire.

    • @slewcrewoffroad
      @slewcrewoffroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Never heard of them but look a lot like the EFX motoclaws of hat my buddy used to run on his General and weren’t anything special. Think you’d be better off with something like a system3 XTR370 tire as an all around 👌

    Didn’t realize Bee Mountain was open, we’ve been up there 3 times and still haven’t been able to see it. High point is a pretty good view as well. How did you like the road up to the cabin ? Joe almost turned his trailer over trying to go around the cabin. My first trip up there we stayed in the cabin down the hill.

    • @slewcrewoffroad
      @slewcrewoffroad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We’ve stayed off that road every time we’ve been previously so we knew what we were in for lol. We stayed in that same hideaway cabin the first time we ever went to WPG. Ethan burnt the rear tires down to the threads on his 2wd pickup trying to pull his old maverick up the hill when we left lol
