Very useful video, good explanation. What if my company( based in UK )is not VAT registered yet? And Amazon is still collecting the VAT from customers? Because now they are in charge with collecting VAT.. I still pay VAT to my suppliers but not getting it back from Amazon after the sales.
Hi there, we know that after July Amazon is going to collect VAT-Tax automatically , does this mean we can get our FBA shipment easily to all European countries? as long as we have Amazon Euro pan? or do we have to be VAT registered already to do it so?
Hi @Ghazaleh, this is the answer, which we received from AVASK experts: From the 1st of July 2021, any sales made via an online marketplace (OMP) for example, Amazon, the OMP will be responsible for collecting and remitting VAT at the point of sale. You can continue to use FBA whether it is under the Pan European programme or not. However, if you would like to store in any EU country you must have a VAT number. Please feel free to contact AVASK Accounting & Business Consulting for any queries on OSS/IOSS and the changes in July.
The three EFTA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) belong to the EEA uniting the 27 EU countries and the EFTA states in an internal market which enables goods and services to more freely in the EEA. Due to this, the EU also means the EEA countries including Norway.
Very informative video, thank you! I have a question about the new EU VAT system and the withdrawal of distance selling thresholds. You mentioned that small businesses will have a threshold of €10,000. Does this apply to every country in the EU individually or is it €10,000 in total across the whole of the EU? For example if I am based in Italy and sell €9,000 of goods to Germany and €8,000 to France will I still be under the threshold? Thanks again for the great video.
“The current distance selling thresholds for intra-EU cross-border supplies will be abolished. EU sellers with an annual turnover of more than €10,000 for their complete intra-EU cross-border supplies will have to charge the VAT of the EU country of delivery” Source: ebay
Hi Robert, thank you for your question! The threshold under the OSS scheme will depend on a number of factors, such as where your company is established and where you are making sales from. If you are only making sales from Italy, then the sales to Germany and France will mean that the threshold is breached. Please let us know if you have any other questions in this regard.
I am Netherlands based register company, do I need to Register VAT in all Amazon Europe countries France, Germany, UK Spain, Italy to sell on Amazon Europe
American companies have to pay their taxes in Europe if you want to make money there. There are no legal loopholes like in the US where you can bribe the congress or law makers to avoid tax. In Europe everyone have to pay taxes no exception.
Very funny! You do know that Amazon for many years funneled it's "point of sale" to Luxembourg due to the low corporation taxrates there, right? You do know that Apple and Google headquarter in Ireland due to thewir low taxrates, right?

We're flat rate VAT registered in the UK, how can we work it out for Amazon European countries? SOS
The flat rate scheme is only available in the UK and therefore cannot be applied in the same way in other countries.
Does EU also mean EEA countries? Norway for example.

Do you have to register through VAT as a US Amazon seller since Amazon will be responsible for taking out taxes now?
