Mr.Thorpe was discriminated by taking back all the trophies and titles he had won by hard work. Then, after 38 years or so and after his death, he was reinstated gaining back all that he had won. He wanted to become a coach ... to.be a coach but never got it until late. Why was it so difficult for him to get the position of a coach job when he had all the qualifications. So unfair. I hope he succeeded in training those kids as their coach. ... end of the movie. Mr. Lancaster’s performance was delightful to watch in this movie. I like all his movies... handsome, athletic and superb acting!!! May you Rest In Peace, Mr. Lancaster.
Wow yeah he would of made an amazing coach but you know how Jealous envious white people are. They can never accept that we have drive and ambition maybe a bit more than they do at times. All they can do is look down on us and make sure we don't even get a chance to succeed, so what was the whole point of these stupid schools? To hurt and break us down? We're still here alive an strong lol
Burt Lancaster was chosen for the role because he looked somewhat Native American and had an athletic past. Yet through it all, he did a decent job of portraying the great man.
The white man still had alot of hatred for the Indians then . But not nearly as much as the Indians had !!! Take their land! Snuff um out ! Pathetic! Jim was half Irish to boot !!! Makes me feel like punching someone ! Olympic committee!!!
A first ! The LAST human to win the Pentathlon and Decathlon! In any Olympics! Period ! Professional Baseball , Football, Basketball!!! Not to mention, Ballroom Danci ng ! And God only knows what else this Superhuman could have chalked up to his accomplishments ! And all this humble man ever wanted was to be a COACH!!!
I won 3 Presidential awards! Broke many different school records, track, football baseball, basketball so on an so forth after reading Jim Thorpe books and that movie ! Jim Thorpe All American !And I'd bet I'm not the only one ! Politics and Sports ! Bad Bet !!!
I loved this movie and what an honor to have represent it Jim Thorpe on the big screen!

Because he was a native, thats why he was discriminated against.
Lancaster was perfect in this role, my favorite actor since a was a boy, in my late 60's now.
I love this movie, especially the ending:
JIM THORPE ALL AMERICAN!
Thrope's story deserved to be told.

What no one ever tells us is that Thorpes grandfather was chief Blackhawk of the Sauk Tribe
My Uncle,Elmer Bush Played Football with J.Thorpe At Carlisle. My uncle is from Clear Lake CA. Pomo, I Have pictures Of Both Of Them On my Wall.
Alone in the stadium...one of the saddest scenes I have ever seen.he had such a gift and so much heart.ant the beauticians stole it.
Everybody should see that movie ! Specially the Olympic commety!

Según mi Abuelo : El hombre de Bronce...
Great movie, just a damn shame that at the time they wouldn't cast someone who was really native american as the star.
Oh ffs get a tampon for your bleeding heart. It's called acting. You don't have to be what you portray.
they still don't. sore spot for the government. in a nut shell
@@Avathreyn you seem nice.
