What should I do if they're too low?

We have 150 PPM Cyanuric Acid in our 1900 gallon swim spa. It was caused by using 1” stabilized chlorine tablets. I completely drained the spa and refilled. I also switched to Bromine tablets. As expected the CYA levels are zero. My question is, now that I switched to Bromine do I need to be concerned with CYA levels. How does CYA affect bromine as opposed to Chlorine?

Using dichlor only my cya level will hit 150 in six months. At that level it can lower the effectiveness of chlorine as a sanitizer. Of course that's longer than you should go without a water change anyway. But even that high I still don't reach the cloudy smelly stage.
Overdoing it on cya is a problem you have to work to suffer from.
By the way theb30-50 ppm level is what is required to give sun protection to chlorine. Cya also neutralizes the alkalinity of the chlorine so you don't see pH rise when adding sanitizer.

Using a hot tub product Ahh-Some and/or Aqua Clarity- same company. I don't have to change my hot tub water for an entire year if I so choose to. I go 8 months before a water change with this product, also keep my chlorine ppm level at 1

Hey there, like you I use bromine tabs in a floater with my cover on. Have you experienced deteriation on your headrests? When I add shock I use chlorine based shock and let it disperse with jets on and cover off for 30 minutes.

What if it shows low cyanuric acid? What should I do?

Nothing, you don't want it in a bromine hot tub. That's perfect!

Yes my hot tub chlorine tablets says it has it and it shows up on my test strips and eventually goes to high. I found some non stabilized chlorine pool tablets that I broke up to put in (to mix up between stabilized and non stabilized chlorine). I noticed these non stabilized tablets were flakey unlike my hottub tablets and not long after using them my hottub water pump for heating got squeaky sounding. I stopped using them and the noise eventually went away.

I understand the tone of explanation - it's for normal people that have little interest in how the chem works... But it's always good to mention that cya is a double-edged sword. Some of it is good, lots of it is bad. That is because of how it moderates the strength of chlorine. If the water gets smelly when CYA is high, it's because the chlorine is too low for that level and can't sanitize the water enough. However, I'm not convinced that this little knowledge on this topic is better than no knowledge. It's also a bit controversial topic as there is no final consensus on the real impact on hot tubs, especially recreational. Pools are whole another story due to algae.
