I've returned to this video several times over the last 5 years. First heard it as a university student. Have listened on the commute into work and now when at home due to covid-19. Just lovely harmonies.
Got to hand it to you guys, that harmony at 7:36 is perfect in every way, I think i speak for everyone when I say that I'd love to see more videos with the both of you in them.
There's nothing better or more relaxing than sitting on a deck in the backyard and just jamming with mother nature providing backup. Looks like you guys had a great time and thanks for allowing us to share in the fun.
Update: Last week (1st week of June 2015), Kenneth and his wife were involved in an auto accident. They're fine, but their car was totaled. He called me and I drove to KY to pick them up at 4am. They stayed with my wife and I for a day, and although Kenneth and I were unable to record another video, we were able to record some songs for a new CD project we're working hard on releasing soon. Kenneth has told me he may be able to come back to TN in August, so we'll plan on doing another video then if so. Stay tuned for more info here on my channel as well as on my other social sites (facebook, twitter, etc.) as well as my newsletter which you can sign up for here: www.BluegrassGuitarEssentials.com P.S. There'll be plenty of blazin' Bluegrass licks from both me and Kenneth, so you'll definitely want to be informed if you liked our video.
Wow Wow Wow, I have not long found this and I am enjoying every bit of it. If it was not 4,30 to 5.00am in the mourning I would be cutting loose with amplifier. Wait till it is 8.00am and the this little town will know I have found some more great music. Glad to read that Kenneth and his wife are ok. All best Kevin in Far West NSW Australia
Wow! Just talked to Kenneth and he's coming back for some more pickin' and grinnin' in May! Can't believe we're nearly at 50,000 views and climbing. Looking forward to and excited about having Kenneth and some more folks on very soon, so stay tuned!
The Guitarpreneur Page do you think you could make a video lesson on how to play I am a pilgrim? I like that Tony Rice style of it but I need some guidance for the techniques he does on the song
Beautiful hour of bluegrass. Many thanks for giving me the pleasure of listening and meeting you both. Greetings and best wishes from across the pond. Take care. Mick.
Guys, great music. I have listened to this many times. Can't hear enough of it. Looking forward for more and you guys getting together again. Jerry Neosho Mo
Too much fun you guys ! Just great entertainment and instruction, I really hope you make some more friends like this Eric, Ken has so many fine moves !
Sorry to hear that, hopefully they've made or will make a full recovery! You guys are a great duo, I grew up in a little Pentecostal church in southern Ohio and all these songs remind me of my dad and my moms brother and her dad. I never advanced anywhere near their level of pickin but I sure enjoy your videos. All the best to Kenneth and his wife, and to you and yours Eric!
Good job y'all excellent pickin on them geytars lol I love bluegrass I'm 24 son of a banjo player it's good to see people still pickin and grinning first time I heard gonna be moving
Eric - GREAT stuff, my brother in Christ! You two gents' voices blend very nicely. And the pickin'....also very fine. Please keep posting. Your hard work is evident and very much appreciated. The foot-tapping on the deck boards was a very very nice bass line. Loved it!
This really is one of the most honest and genuine jam videos I’ve ever seen of two guys just having fun. I still come back and watch every once in a while if I’m in need of some renewed inspiration. Y’all are great!
Wanted to let you know i come back to this video constantly to hear you sing “Child of the King.” Just immaculate harmonies. Amazing. You guys are dripping with talent.
Agree! I have been doing the same thing. I would love to hear some other bluegrass versions of "Child of the King", but so far this is the only one I've come across... Just a lovely song. Eric makes really tasteful vocal choices in this particular song.
When Kenneth hit that first vocal (and what a great solo) on Gonna Be Movin' I was hooked. Been trying to learn bluegrass ever since.. damn 3 years ago.. I should be better at it. And your lessons been really helpful too Eric! Thanks, hope to see u guys playin again.
Thanks for the kind words. Practice, practice, practice...then practice some more! Then be sure to get into jam sessions/play live with others. This is one of the best ways to learn because you're forced to keep going rather than relying on the "training wheels" of stopping whenever you make a mistake.
Eric, I'e been waling in the dark for 10 years on guitar. Not sure what I wanted to sound like. Thus my guitar talent plateaued about 8 years ago. I still enjoyed playing but never got much better. Found you on youtube and thought "that's how I want to play." Learned a lot since then. BTW - you and Kenneth should be famous.
I like this guys. I own a d18 my uncle willed me, but my weapon of choice is a mandolin. I have been pickin' for a while now love the gospel and the oldtime stuff. thanks for posting.
Thanks guys. Glad to see you mention the Blue Chip. Just got one about a week ago and love it. I use the Blue Chip thumb pick for my Dobro and it looks like the day a bought it. Thanks again. I go to Kendallville Indiana festival every year. Hope to see you there sometime and pick. Regards, Buz
I am late responding but I am glad to hear everyone is doing well. I love this video - 2 guys playing and having a great time. One day I would like to play my acoustic with my fellow guitar players. My whole family moved from NJ / PA to Dandridge TN area. If I can talk the Mrs into moving south...well that's another story. Truly, Bill
The two of you are BRILLIANT!! I have watched this right through and now watching it again. Please give us more. Best wishes to Kenneth too from the U.K.
Hello guys. You couldn't imagine how many times I've watched this video. Even picked my guitar up and played along. Lol. Nothing like sitting out back picking that old bluegrass. Awesome job from both of you guys. Would love to hear another hour of you guys again. Awesome picking! !
I just put back 5 cold ones listening to this...makes me want to strive to get to this level and jam out. My grandfather played in a bluegrass band for 50 years before he passed away called the "Rhythm Playboys" and I grew up listening to this stuff. Good for the soul
Wow that is some great picking. I love to hear people sit around and play like this. I have played guitar all my life. But I'll never be as good as you guys. Id like to hear more. I hope Kenneth and his wife are OK. God bless you guys.
I love this, pure honest picking. Well played guys, I'll be comin back to hear more. Both guitar's sound great, loved the singing. Love and best whishes from Ireland.
Another great video! This was really fun to watch because it gives the viewer (or learner, in my case) a chance to really see how two bluegrass guitar players play off each other and create licks on the fly. Keep 'em coming. Amazing vocals as always.
Just great stuff! Wish I was there when you recorded it! Brought me back when I jammed with my buddy. Thanks for posting this and thanks for floating my memories up for me. GOD Bless!!
