@@AHBrandonReviews sorry, but do you really genuinely believe the season 3 was good? Maybe in terms of animation, but hell, its pacing is just outward awful. Like for example there have been introduced a woman who seemingly specialised in monster-raising, only to appear for approximately 2 minutes on the screen and disappear, as far as I can see, forever... I still didn't understand what role for the plot she had, let alone I can't even remember her name... There were introduced so many characters without deep explanation of them and their backstories that I just started to mix them up. If someone of them dies, I don't think I would feel for them or miss them.. Now there is this moment with the attack on village. This attack just lasts for nearly a minute, then promptly Naofumi with his team appear out of blue and easily naofumied all the enemies. I felt almost no emotions, because all happened so fast. Another example is with Motoyasu and how he called Raphtalia a racoon-pig after acquiring his curse series (lust). As someone who has watched a lot of videos on the TH-cam about the verse, I got this joke (that Motoyasu now sees all women, other than Filo, as pigs), but anime makers didn't even bother to allocate 20 seconds to explain it for the audience. After having watched the whole season, I remember myself not believing that it's it and thinking I missed some episodes, which I of course didn't. In a word, I got very disappointed by season 3, not the second one
Season 3 was convoluted and made no sense as well as added even MORE women warriors that are somehow able to beat "heroes" in duals, even one dual with the bow hero by a girl that was shown to be weak, the entire past 2 seasons and all of a sudden, she using spells and techniques she had never used up to that one dual. BS. So the heroes are now terrible and aren't even necessary because Naofumis harem are able to beat them in duals. You just killed the entire premise of the story. The heroes are weak and can be beat by women who have had no skills or purpose up to season 3. Its dumb.
I really like how Naofumi is like big brother to Ren in way and how shows them the path after they get the wake up call. Now all that left is Itsuki to take off the Rose colour glasses and escpae from the bitch manipulating then they can start to finally begin traing as 4 heroes together

Funny how it took betrayal, backstabbing, and manipulation of a certain witch to make the other useless heroes seem a lot more bearable to watch once they got a dose of Naofumi’s reality.
I´m gonna have to bleach my mouth after saying this, but is B**ch the real hero of the story?!
When all is said and done, after her actions, each of these terrible "heroes" became much more capable, competent, and overall better people...

While yes I agree its definely rushed and does not hit the same as season 1. I would not call it trash there is way way worse show out there. Seaon 3 is better for me then last season 2 and I can see how the turtle arc can ruin peoplees perception of future acrs and not want to watch it. It is mixed back but I did go in new season with open mind and not expecting it to be the same. That being said I still enjoy it and have it fun and makes me want to read the source material that much more so I can enjoy the series to its fulest. Liking how each of the heroes start to see our Boy Naofumis view and get a wake up call and on path of redemption. What I really want to see is the bitch going down once and for all for mes she the true villain of series.

When it came to Season 2 with the Stone Tortoise's use of CGI and the overall poor animation quality up to that point was all it took for people to shun Shield Hero and drop it outright. I was even contemplating into following their example. However the animation got better as the show went on by the time the Heroes went to the other world. But as for Season 3 so far it's like the show is trying to recapture the feeling of Season 1 Episode 1 and making us all remember just how much we all hate Malty with her screwing all of the heroes over in one way or the other. In my opinion she belongs to the streets and she can never hold a candle to best woman Raptalia.
Nah, it's not the CGI that really threw me off. It's like they made every other hero dumb and incompetent. It's not that naofumi is a smart guy but rather everyone around him is stupid as fuck. The spear hero kept getting tricked over and over again by malty and doesn't learn. The sword hero got tricked and fell for such an obvious trick by malty again. How would you not know you were being seduced and tricked by malty when all she ever does is seducing and tricking. Honestly I liked the show so much on the first season and was looking forward for the second season but it fell off after the betrayal arc.
That woman’s mouth should be classified as the 5th cardinal weapon because she’s so good in using it to convince heroes to her side, by lying of course…
To me Season 3 isn't bad, but it wasn't what I what I originally watched the series for. Season 1 was a 8.5/10 and rn season 3 is a 7.5/10
I find S3 the perfect blend of S1 and S2 without the baggage you know
It’s been a few years since I’ve read the Shield Hero LNs (really wish the author would come off hiatus and finish the series already, as it’s been years since a volume was published in Japanese, much less English), so while the story isn’t fresh in my mind, I do remember certain things.
I never personally thought S2 was terrible… but it was definitely mid at best - and i absolutely ABHOR using the word “mid” because it’s so overused at this point, but it’s the most accurate term there is.
I’d say the first “biggest problem” with S2 is there simply wasn’t enough episodes to adapt the story properly. I’d say Kizuna’a World needed at least 3 more episodes because they so badly rushed the story of Raphtalia becoming the Katana Hero that it lost its charm. The second biggest problem being that the Spirit Turtle arc was never that great of a story in the LN to begin with, so it was never going to be peak anime viewing. Add in the horrific CGI turtle, and you had numerous people washing their hands of Shield Hero.
What i have heard through numerous grapevines is Kinema Citrus was so busy with Made in Abyss at that time that much of the adapting of S2 fell to DR Movie, which could also go to explain why Made in Abyss was so good, while Shield Hero S2 was so, well, mid.
Another case for the above is those same people say S3 is back with Kinema Citrus - and it has been legitimately good. Perhaps not 100% back to form because it has been extremely fast paced, but it has been on point with the story it’s telling, and the animation has been very good as well.
When I first watched season 3 the dragon fight reminded me of the boss fight from dark souls 1 seath the skilless
I can see Captain America meet the shield hero and teach the shield hero a few things and teach him how fight with the shield
I love the third season so far. It's a bit different with the light novel but i feel that the anime did a good job of retconning the disaster route from season two.
I’ve really enjoyed season 3. Still have to watch a few episodes to catch up, but it’s gotten interesting again, to me.

Season 1 - 11/10, Best Season of Isekai ever. Puts Shield Hero at the Number 1 Isekai spot (infront of Cautious Hero).
Season 2 - Not as good, it was alright, the Turtle arc was a 6/10, it is THE WORST PART IN THE LIGHT NOVEL (from what I have heard), and the animation did not help. The worst part of the original source EXECUTED BADLY made the season start off worse, it wasn't horrible it just was not that good and the first time the show gets slightly boring, alongside a bad villain it just did not work, even at its worst though i'd say Shield Hero is better than most Isekai, the second half of the season was better and is criminally underrated, 8/10
Season 3 - Not Season 1 still, but improved the animation and for sure better than season 2, but the problem is the show has become underrated and more hated in a way.
Even with new shows that are just mind blowing and truly amazing like Solo Levelling, Shield Hero shouldn't be forgotten, it really is amazing, I just hope that they can make 24+ episode long seasons again.
i liked season 2. A season 2 of any anime will never be anywhere near a season 1. If you just come to terms with that and understand a season 1 is what makes the BASIS of an entire anime from character introduction, character development, world building and all, you'll enjoy it just the same. Season 3 is somethin else though. Made me so excited for season 4 :)

As a mega fan who read the novels and liked volumes 6-9 I was so enraged at seeing how they butchered the spirit tortoise and new world arcs. That whole plot line though weaker I feel wasn’t actually bad. Look at how they massacred my boy was what I felt. The events of volumes 10-16 was peak story telling. Starting with 16 and up is the deep lore and stuff getting even more insane. Naofumi is definitely REN’s closest friend and Itsuki will adjust to similar to Ren.
My understanding is that Spear hero is still under his curse series and will be for some time. Just my understanding at this time.
Hope that is not a massive spoiler.

It has never been trash. But it lost me. I tried watching S3 but after a couple weeks I gave up. It had one good arc and then several cliffsides it fell off. Maybe if there weren't so many good series airing at the same time, I would've kept watching.

The old me hate CGI a lot but as i grow up i jusy dont mind it anymore. I seen worst CGI like Kumo Desu and i still enjoy the story... At least the main character side of story. I like it a lot that I go read the novel and it hundreds time better. Same with Arifureta CGI

To me it felt like it had a lot of ideas crammed into 1 cour whwn it needed more for that arc while also being just weaker than anything that came before it. I still very much enjoyed s2 unlike many but s3 is def a return to form for me
S3 is definitely more enjoyable to watch than S2 which turned into a quicksand slog. It HAD some decent parts but as a whole, as you put it, it was quite messy. There were some good concepts, and it was nice seeing the different countries interact with one another each with their own takes on the Cardinal heroes. S3 is just more coherent and entertaining to watch. Naofumi has a clear goal, and altho each episode kinda feels like they're leapfrogging forward there's still that sense of cohesion to the progression of the story. Seeing bits of Ren's progress in the following episodes since his induction into the Naofumi fam was good because they didn't just leave him out after his redemption arc was done.
Spear hero.... meh they can leave him out for all I care hahaha dude's a pathetic lost cause. It's fine as long as he's not going against Naofumi any more and is even willing to cooperate.
Itsuki... OMG. I hate the little chuuni brat with a passion. The latest episode was so hard to watch, listening to him spout all the insane bullshit. But at the same time this is a good thing. Why? Because it means there's something about him to care about to actually get worked up on. He's still pretty cardboard as far as characters go, but at least his past was expanded on to show how he ended up with such a severe case of chuuni-seigi-no-mikata syndrome. If Fate Archer could hear him, dude would be frothing in the mouth with rage and cringe hahahaha.
Bitch, well hers is the character that's wildly different in the anime as opposed to her LN version's fate. Granted yes she does perform as an effective plot driver what with all the chaos she creates by manipulating each of the three self-esteem-deprived heroes and have them dance to her every beat. I am curious tho how they're gonna reconcile her ultimate fate in the anime versus LN Bitch's ending.

I definitely liked the season and how it gives the other heroes a dose of reality and a bottom to crawl back up from (although motoyasu is just made insane lol, but hey, he's probably the most motivated to get stronger)
My only complaint is that I feel let down with the confrontations of Ren and Itsuki. They were all afflicted with the curse series, and we barely see the destructive capabilities of them. Naofumi and his team basically shrug off Ren's ultimate attacks, and Itsuki only brainwashed one person. We've been shown since season 1 the power of the curse series and barely tap into the other sins in this season. Not to mention the drawbacks for the other heroes aren't even presented to us, just a single line from Ren saying that anything he holds degrades. We don't get shown this, we don't see how he loses his levels for using Gluttony, and we don't see how strangely obedient Itsuki is supposed to become after using Pride like in the novel. We don't even see Motoyasu's warped perspective of how he sees girls as pigs now.
A big part of my love for this series is exploring the curse series and the gradual destructive impacts they have, but it feels like it's been rushed and moved on.

Naofumi went on a diplomatic mission but did not leave a single person who can fight behind…? Let’s put that into perspective, this would be like the US president going to a different country for diplomacy, AND BRINGING THEIR ENTIRE MILITARY…? What were you trying to do Naofumi, threaten that small town?
Everyone let the dragon hatchling eat the Emperor Core… We’ve seen how fast Raphtallia is, so when she saw that baby dragon eating nibbling on that stone, she mustve thought: “wow, dragons eat rocks? Didnt know that”
I’m of the opinion that this entire season is just completely contrived. Characters have been previously seen to be so much smarter than this, but now they’re dumb? So that plot can happen?
The only bad thing i have so say about this season is the devil incarnate has yet to have an accidnet while having a hair cut, seriously how hard is it to do, also this season Naoufumi must have been going "I told you so" in his head through out the season.
Also i recommend, if you want to look it up and don't mind spoilers, look up Spear Hero after he activated his curse series its actually a little funny and a depart from the normal.
S2 wasn't even bad either. I don't see where this meme even came from. I think people got attached to the B*tch revenge arc a little bit too much thinking it's the only hook the show had.

Here is my take on thie series so far...
To me honestly, season 2 was them having a very off season, where the animation was subpar until later on as the series went,
the story was bland, until it got to the second half of the season, which was totally put off by the animation that was trying to
show, and finall, to me, it was just a decent season with some plot holes that needed to be explained a bit more better, and
really needed to be expanded upon, in order to get the entire picture, and at the same time, progress the storyline.
Bet girl Raphtalia, is still best girl.
With season 3, it actually picked up where it left off, and some of the storyline that was riddled with sporatic holes, for the most part
has some of it filled. Especially with the tournament arc and the preceding gathering of heroes, that really changed for the worst,
until Naofumi took over, showing that the three blind mice still have a lot to atone for. Like the Spear Hero with his fragile delusions and
distrust of all human women in the entire universe, and his infatuation with Filo (gives me the chills), Ren and his I can do it alone
attitude, now its him going through an "AA" meeting, because he really needed help to get him back on track, and finally with Itsuki and
his "Hero" complex, that is really disturbing in the most disgusting of all ways, and blinded by the fact that his entire party has turned
against him. But at least it wasn't like the Sear Hero's situation where his enitre party of women has literally abandoned him, without even
blinking.
Anyways, its good to see the series pick itself back up again, and continue to love it, before, during, and after their "disastrous" second season.
Let's see what happens next.

Lets be honest rosh after season 1 is trash.
I'm debating dropping the sub and just switching to the dub. The only reason why I put up with it was to stay up-to-date with the latest episode. However, there aren't as many reactions or reviews for season 3. With everything that is happening for the holidays and other stuff in my life, I haven't gotten around to watching the latest episodes and fallen behind. At this point, it may be better for me to just switch to the dubs, which I enjoy more. I'm a bit dyslexic and the subtitles are distracting. It doesn't matter how good or bad the Japanese VA are, it just doesn't register with me.

I love "The Rising of the Shield Hero" so much and I wanted to see more seasons😢😢❤❤❤❤....
I will be blunt and simple. I strictly watch the show for Malty, Bitch or Witch. Even though the anime is comparatively worse than the manga and light novels. My preference for the show largely depends on her involvement. So for me, s1 is best, s2 is the worst, and s3 is relatively better. I would vote for Raphtalia, Naofumi, and the show, etc. to finish the story. As she seems to be 1 of the most hated characters in anime, i am okay with most anime fans disliking my opinion here.
I have always loved Shield Hero. S2 was definitely not the best showing for the potential this series had. It was more mid than anything but I wouldn't call it bad by any strech. Even a rushed product that had a turtle that wasn't the greatest CGI and the second half which had some good moments but was like I said rushed because of said turtle arc taking so long. Not to mention they had a different studio doing it that was busy with making Made in Abyss and a whole different team working on it, and there is a recipe for disaster which it was for the general fanbase.
The popularity 100 percent dipped which is a big shame since this series was my gateway into anime and unfortunately now it cannot be changed.
But I'll still love this series even if most of the other fans have dipped on it.
I haven't seen S3 due to this season being so packed and life getting in the way, but from the clips and the general word I hear from some people I trust, they say this series is back on track.
Some still say it's a little rushed which I cannot testify for since I'm not watching atm but I know whatever it is, I'm still gonna enjoy it for what it is.
If we do get another season, I'll definitely binge this season and be there day 1 like I was for the previous seasons.

Also... The animation quality for this season looks better than S2 and some of S1 as well. They nailed it and the opening is a bop from what I've heard.
Season 2 was redeemed because it had Kizuna. Season 3 is poorer because it does not have Kizuna (except in a still). But yeah, the 2nd half of Season 2 went way too fast, but it was pretty good. Sadly, people had checked out by then. S3 is doing a good job of adapting the material and has been pretty strong. I'm enjoying it.
I couldnt get through 3 episodes of season 2 because how trash the animation was, it was because of the writing and pace of the show.
season 3 is better than season 2 but it still not good as season 1 the pacing is still a little to fast especially the fight scenes if you can call them that the MC and the team are winning fights why to easily not much struggling
I remember seeing so many people get mad at season 3 and calling it bad because the other heroes fell for Malty’s lies when they should have known better. Do these people know how manipulation works? She purposely targeted them when they were at their lowest point where they were desperate for someone to be there for them like how Naofumi needed Raphtalia. They went from being basically worshiped to hated. Ren was fighting with himself trying to know who was at fault for his teammates deaths, him or them. Malty fed into Ren’s insecurities making him feel like it wasn’t his fault. Also I feel like people forget that Malty used the fact her slave crest didn’t activate when she lied.

I actually enjoyed season 2, it did have a lot of problems, but I found S3 almost unwatchable. Uninteresting characters and dumbass plot lines. The dragon stuff was boring, idiotic and annoying AF, that demihuman pissant that was raised by the dragon was the most annoying character in the show, Ren and Itsuki developing amnesia + retardation, forgeting that Malty is a lying, manipulating piece of trash was even more unenjoyable, overall I loved season 1, liked somewhat season 2 and hate S3 with a passion, 0 logic, 0 good new characters I even started hating the main cast somewhat. They setup S4 to be interesting at least, but the setup in itself was from nowhere and overall was complete dogshit. I really think that this season everyone got amnesia+some for of retardation and that just kills everything for me, it's like the first 2 seasons happened, but not really and don't even get me started on the powerscaling. People got from OP AF to getting rekt from basic NPCs, some characters suddenly become useless weaklings and others become OP from nowhere, it just made no god damn sense. Countless instances of insta OP or insta nerf, insta braindead and amnesia, it's somewhere between laughable and infuriating. S2 looks like a masterpiece compared to S3.

I rarely decide to completely give up on an anime but Shield Hero's season 2 was too much for me. The show wanted me to stop watching it and I obeyed.
Shield hero is great but I feel like he is kinda stuck now... it is like Jack of all traits master of none even tho production does everything great. "Strangely" I feel more attached to ghosts than any character in here.... ty Dark gathering. I am enjoying it and a lot really just feel like its missing a little bit of impact.
It's definitely better than S2, but watching it after Freiren a few Fridays was a mistake. It just highlights the rushed pace of Shield Hero. Freiren has ruined a few shows for me by being so good lol

Last few episodes were hot garbage though. Dragon sideplot was a 100% time waster and coulda 100% been prevented if the dragon wasn't a little shit.
Is season 3 the last season? In netflix, it states that it is the final season and whst the hell?
In my opinion, there's so much more to the story. The other worlds, the origin of all the cardinal weapons (a more in-depth history), and so many more could be talked about.
Imo Shield Hero reached its peak at the first 4 episodes of season 1 due to the following reasons:
1. A huge sense of fear cuz of how weak Naofumi was which had us at the edge of our seats.
2. The story felt like it was progressing in one direction.
3. Well written story pace and plot twists.
The reason why the show started to feel less enjoyable, imo, is that it had many episodes that felt more like spin-offs, especially noticeable in Season 2 and Season 3, rather than focusing on the concept of the 'Waves'. I'm not saying these episodes are bad; it's just that they don't feel as satisfying, considering each season consists of only 12 episodes and there is at least a 1-year waiting period between each season.
I can't agree they will never get back the greatness of season 1. Season 2 was trash and season 3 is almost as bad. I moved on to demon slayer now that is the best thing going.
S3 was garbage. It was more watchable than 2 but still. The other hero stories & their fight scenes are horse turd. Sad to see it end this way. Goblin Slayer was a far more enjoyable S2
agreed, except just seeing Gobling Slayer going to a wedding and then fighting goblins again in the same ole way has gotten BORING.

shield hero would be interesting if naofumi goes full soldier boy on those other heroes the power of friendship love and compassion ruins this show

Season 3 is such an acid trip I don't even know what the heck is going on at all literally makes no sense lol nothing does too many random bipolar scenes especially the part with the bitch🤣 I know one thing for sure is raftalia didn't further the relationship between her and shield hero which made no sense because they were hitting it off in the in season 1 and 2 and melty didn't get enough spotlight wholesome funny nice interactions with the shield hero plus there was too many characters added in a short amount of time which feels rushed ruins the main characters spotlight 😞 I have a headache just thinking about what the f*** just happened
