    I wouldn't normally comment on these things but my sample size is unusual so I believe it is incredibly telling for the initial batches manufactured. I can't speak for ACRO P2 optics made after 2023. My organization bought 60 plus (maybe 65?) ACRO P2 optics for a selection course in 2023, on my recommendation.
    We broke more than 20 of them with various issues from the dot just not working anymore , fogging issues after being rained on and the most common issue, front glass shattering for no obvious reason. In my experience it is not a reliable or durable optic.

      Yeah, that sucks when you recommend something, and it poops the bed. I had the same experience when I recommended a pistol light to my agency, and they started to fail miserably. It didn't help that the company changed the construction of the lights after we purchased them.

      My RMR type 2 is just fine. On my rifle I have a Steiner MPS I got on sale for 349 this past July 4th. I just mounted it yesterday on my badger condition one setup. If the RMR was on sale for the same price I would have got it instead. The whole “enclosed optic fad” seems kinda overrated at this point. The RCR may change my mind. Hell the Steiner may change my mind, but it’s going on an SPR 556 so it’s much different than a reciprocating slide.

    Granted I don't live where it rains (South West), but my Trijicon RMR has gone strong for 10 years of duty and CCW carry... and roughly around 100k rounds through it by being mounted on different guns. I still think the RMR is the gold standard. I wish Trijicon upped their game and released some dots with more updated features, but I'm still happy with the simplicity and reliability of a RMR. I was eyeing the ACRO simply because it's supposed to be the "latest and greatest", but I'm glad I came across this information. Saved me some good amount of $$$.

    Some people buy what the internet says is the premium product as “insurance” for if there is are any issues. Example: you buy an Anderson lower and it’s out of spec, people make fun of you; but if you buy a KAC lower and it’s out of spec people crawl out of the woodwork to tell you how good customer service is at KAC and that they will take care of you. In both cases you got a bad product, but if you buy the expensive item there are usually more fanboys on the internet that will support you if there’s problems.

    • @danielianello
      @danielianello หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@WyattDerpTheNotSoEarp Yes, I agree 100% that buying something from certain brands (like KAC) gives you a much better chance of getting a product that works compared to others (like Anderson). However, if you get something that doesn't work properly, it doesn't matter what the rollmark is-it's not working. My comment was more focused on how people react to bad products, and how it is different based on where the product came from. Often our biases allow us to use the Anderson (sticking with the same companies for the example) issues to confirm our perception that a product is trash, while the KAC issues aren't addressed in the same way-we talk about how good their customer service is.

    I'm a gear snob and place a premium of brand name, I love the ACRO P2, I have never had a problem, but if you watch enough videos about them, there is plenty of people who have had ACRO failure at the range or normal daily operation, nothing close to combat use, however despite that, I would always pick a Aimpoint over a Holosun, or other competitor brands.

Delamination, Fog inside the lens, de-purging, buttons stopped working, Battery cap lost pressure on battery. I bought aimpoint because it tends to rain often (water or snow or both) and mainly because we have a lot of negative degrees that we shoot in and I suspect the chinese products may not last there.
    I have neither never had a positive experience of a product made in china.

I don't have a bad experience with it, but its window is a bit small for my liking and I can't get it to conceal for crap no matter how I carry the gun because the enclosed format makes the rear of the optic print. Not all enclosed optics do this. The holosuns don't, for instance. Really just a problem with the acros, mps, and their budget copies. I can give the mps a pass since it cost me like $175 when everyone was blowing them out. I just can't justify a second acro though, even through it makes a pretty good offset rifle dot.

    So I've only ever owned 4(5?) handgun dots. A gen 1 ACRO, that guy went 30k rounds for me, it would fog under extreme humidity but I'd just bump the brightness up one setting and move on with shooting, a gen 2 ACRO which is still pretty new to me and I got it for less than the other dot I own: the Steiner MPS I've had 2 or 3 of these things. The uncertainty comes from my having to send one of them in because one of the tabs that hold the battery in broke and it would cause the thing to flicker off, not sure if they sent me a new one or fixed the one I sent in.

    There is only 1 thing premium about the Acro... and that is the optical coatings Aimpoint puts on them. I've shot virtually all of the red dots under night vision and the Acro has by far the best light transmission besides maybe some of the new Sig stuff. I own both a P1 and P2 and besides inconsistent battery life I have been happy with them and their performance. But I agree that Aimpoint has had a ton of QC issues with them in the last 2 years so unless you're a hardcore night vision user it would not be my first recommendation.

In a lot of your recent videos talking about speed of shooting you mention how the qual mindset of “slow down and get your hits” can be detrimental to shooter development because you’re not pushing yourself, just teaching yourself to miss slower. Using just one example; am I hurting myself or wasting time by doing 40 slow motion reloads (say about 50-60 percent of full speed) and then trying to hit my desired par time with another 40? Curious what you think.

    From all reports I've seen and heard from people who have more experience with ACROs than just the one they bought, they seem to have a lot of QC issues. Plus they are huge. For ccw they are too big and a waste of money. IMO the only enclosed emitter red dots that are a reasonable size for ccw are the EPS/SCS Carry. But the fogging issue is why I went open emitter. You can always at least wipe the lens on both sides and see through it ro use irons. Since there is no way to immediately remove a red dot from a pistol maintaining the optical path for the irons is more important to me than the tiny chance a rain drop or speck of dust blocks the emitter since I can use irons in that case. If the inside surface of an enclosed lens fogs, your have nothing but point shooting.
