I QUIT my job to Sail the World: Sailing Rio EP54

  • Yes. Not so long ago I was that guy on the bus to work.. standing in queues.. being herded through gates and turnstiles only to be deep underground in an office cubicle without windows. All the while - dreaming of the open ocean and far off beaches with palm trees and coconuts.
That's true, but it's also not the full story, as the other part of my job was a dream gig. I travelled the world as a foreign correspondent for Australia's largest TV network - reporting on current events and I loved it.
But it was a lot of time away from family, and instead of telling other people's stories, I wanted to live my own.
This episode is about how that happened.
    Enjoy.

As someone who dreams to be a journalist and correspondent telling stories, I think this was a brave and excellent decision. Family is forever and you only get one shot. God bless you!

Well done mate, so easy to under estimate how difficult a life change is, especially with a family, followed your work for many years and always appreciated what you did in the media. Enjoying following you on this adventure more !

As a yachtie and Aussie, always appreciated your work on TV, always watched your stories with enthusiasm due to your stoic manner and always ( seemingly) digging deeper. Now i really wait with enthusiasm, best of both worlds. Great presentation, delivery and production and about sailing. 👌👍
Cheers, fair winds and half your luck.

Thanks very much Andy. I'll still do some work here and there - but I'll try and stretch out this magical period of sailing and surfing as long as possible! As you know the ocean is a beguiling woman and she lures you out constantly...

Good on you Denham. You are far too good for Australian media.
Most people wait till they are way too old to realise there is so much more to life than work work work.

That's true. No one ever comes to the end and wishes they spent more time in the office. I will still work on the projects I really believe in, but at least for the time being - not full time and certainly not around the clock..

The video had 0 sailing and Devind with his shirt off. Those are the takeaways. Pretty vain.

True this is a sailing channel, but if you quit your job to go sailing - that also falls into that category right? If sailing is what you're after - try the Sailing to Fiji video's. There's three of them.
