I was off reading and blew out my rear diff side gears which locked it up. A friend and I pulled the diff cover and tried to remove the side gears but one of the side gears was stuck in the ring and pinion gears. Long story shorter I found one towing company willing to retrieve my truck at a cost of $950.00 yes bucks. But he did have to put the rears on tow dolly’s to get my truck out. My point is this. I have been watching his videos for five years or more now and I sure hope someone puts an envelope with money 💰 anonymously of course on his front seat when he isn’t looking. I could never accept him doing that for free and him breaking his truck while towing mine for free. Sorry that’s just me. I don’t like paying what I did but if your going off roading be prepared to pay. Thank You for your videos and being such a straight up guy. Cheers

If you get stuck out here at the dunes in Pismo it's normally $900 to get pulled out and get your car back. When I heard him say he does this for free it just reminds me of all the times I've pulled out people and dug out their cars for them just because they were trying to have fun and didn't know any better. Sometimes people will give you all the cash in their wallet sometimes they will take your help for granted

Broke a front main leaf on my crawler last time out. We jacked it up with a highlift and got the leaf located back on the second leaf. Then wrapped a small ratchet strap around it as tight as we could. Then used another running around the eyes back to the axle to keep it tight together.
Was able to drive off the trail back to the trailer. We have done this before on another guys rig. Things you do to get off the trail.

    recoveryteam top tip
install c10 or c/k 1500 rear springs and hangers and 3/8" thick shackles with grade 8 bolts to the front of the wrecker
you can also have a spring shop do a military double spring wrap so the same thing won't happen again
the rear c1500 spring is longer and will give you a slight lift over stock but the longer spring will give you more axle articulation and a softer ride ...
you can also install a 64" cab and chassis 1ton rear springs ... slight lift over stock ...more leafs ...more load carrying ability softer ride and more axle articulation
also are you guys running skid plates?
differential cover guards or hd covers
    pinion guards?
raised or relocated axles/transmission vent tubes?

I commented on your other video, but it's time to upgrade those bolts. 9/16" bolts everywhere! Upgrade the shackle mount in the frame, larger bushing, bigger bolts. Factory is 9/16" in the front and 7/16" in the rear of the front spring until about 88 when they upgraded the front bolts to 1/2". 9/16" is way stronger and makes all the bolts the same.
If you check out the blazer on my channel, it has 9/16" bolts everywhere--in all six locations--front and rear.

@@MYTOYMAKERZ Yes i was just stating if had been turning more right the left wheel might not have hooked the bank and broke the leaf it might have bounced off instead.

Jeez, I've never seen a main leaf break like that. Shouldn't be all that expensive if you can just rebuild the pack with a new leaf.

How hard it to replace those leaf springs never done one before

the leaf spring isn't hard, it's just 6 nuts, pull the 2 bolts/nuts from the shackles and the 4 nuts on the u bolts holding the spring to the axle and it's free, the problem is sometimes the shackle bolts get rusted into the metal sleeve in the bushing were the shackles mount to the springs,

i'm not that much into automatic but every now and then i hear people saying that if you tow a automatic trans you have to disconnect the rear driveshaft otherwise you could damage the transmission. can someone explain that please?

    • @joshuameggison5016
      @joshuameggison5016 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Without the engine running the oil pump on the transmission wont be supplying lubrication and can wipe out bearings.

@@joshuameggison5016 thanks for the answer :) i forgot to mention that he often tows trucks with the engine not running but i saw a comment on a other video of him that states that you can tow it when you put your transfer case in neutral. i totally forgot about that and got hung up in the dangers of towing a automatic vehicle ^^
