Bent nose pliers help loads when you are doing chainmail especially with wrist fatigue. If you can swing it a pair of pliers that have a small hole that has been done with a drill press. This helps in grabbing them and holding them. PS the pliers with a drill press hole through them also helps with holding and bending heavy gauge wire without scratching or nicking it.
Hiya, awesome work for your first chainmail project! I have one suggestion: if you rotate the weave pattern of the zigzag chainmail sheet that hangs below the scales of the chest piece, it should result in chainmail that will naturally hug closer to the body. With the current pattern of alternating vertical rows, the chainmail sheet just hangs straight down, and gravity causes the weave to stay wide open and become less flexible. You can test this with a square sheet of European 4-in-1 by holding the sheet up and seeing how gravity affects the rings at different angles.
Omg! Thank you! The tutorial book i have is telling me to connect 2 of the 4 in 1s together with a single loose ring, and I could not get it. This is perfect!!
Glad I could help!! Took a lot of trial and error to get it right but once you get it right then the rest is pretty straightforward! There are many more techniques that I have yet to learn but the 4 in 1 method is great to start with
Yeah...I was following the "linking 4/1's together" method with some frustration and saw her "linking 2/1's" with the "under/over" method and now feel really good with what I am doing. Peace.
The visuals and the description in this are just what I was looking for! Like so many others, I've been struggling with chainmail and the way you showed everything is so great!
Amazing video!! I cant see the link to the supplies website anywhere! have any other recommendations where I can bulk buy jump rings? thanks for video, learned a lot!
Oh shoot sorry! I just added those to the description. For this video, I got everything from www.metaldesignz.com/ , however I did end up buying more supplies and colors from theringlord.com/ . Both sites are awesome and shipped really fast!

What size scales did you get? Also this video was so helpful omg
I got the Anodized Aluminum Large Scale from Metal Designz, I'll also update the description! www.metaldesignz.com/anodized-aluminum-large-scales/
I’m trying to make scale mail just for my shoulders, do you know approximately how many scales you used per shoulder?
Just did a rough count, I'd say about 65 scales per shoulder!
Amazing piece! I’m planning on making shoulder scalemail but I’m not sure how much to buy? How many pieces per side did you use?
I'd say about 65 scales per shoulder for the size I went for!
Omg ... so much work😅 but realy nice i want to try it too
it was a lot but honestly its pretty easy to passively make! I watched a few movies while making my armor
How many scales did you use on the mantel? If you say in the video ignore my comment lol
