It’s the number one question we also get ‘Why Melbourne’ but we love it and the weather has been amazing!

Awesome Q&A, and stoked you picked Melbourne to live 😊
Other Australians love to hate on Melbourne, so when foreigners choose Melbourne over their city, or say they like/love Melbourne, other Aussies get really triggered and offended as if they expect everybody to join in on the collective 'hate Melbourne bandwagon' lol.

It's all so very silly. They aren't in charge of the weather where they are, yet have a dig at us for ours, like it's a personal affront, even though they don't live here and we aren't forcing them to! It makes no sense.

@@triarb5790Give me Melbourne weather any day over Sydney or Brisbane. Nice to holiday up there in our winter, but no way I’d live there. Would rather Hobart, Adelaide or Perth weather over Sydney or Brisbane.

Melbourne is great...the people aren't.. when a whole country has an opinion...at what point would you ask yourself if you are the problem...OK Melbourne..keep being you..haha..Melbourne is as far away as you could get from actual Australian culture.

I did the same, and it changed my life. I picked Melbourne because in the 80s, all Pommie backpackers went to Perth, Cairns, or Sydney, and honestly I'd never even heard of Melbourne 😂. Met my Kiwi husband the first week I arrived, moved in with him within a month. We lived around the world for a few years, and came back and settled here 😊

Really great Q&A guys! My grandparents migrated from the United Kingdom in 1971 and they have loved Australia ever since. You should also visit Perth some time it’s practically a mini England so many Brits everywhere you go it’s like a whole other country haha. Look forward to more vlogs 😊

Obviously enjoy the parks, galleries, exhibitions, and different sporting events on offer. Also keep a look out for free outdoor events held. Hope your stay is everything you imagined and more.

At the Oz Open, instead of buying a ticketed seat to Centre Court, you can buy a Ground Pass for a lot less and sit on the lawn and enjoy all the entertainment, vibes, and watch the tennis action on the big screen. Personally, I find the first week (of two) more entertaining as there are so many more players still in the competition. I think it starts this coming Monday.

@@TrudyandEddTravel, my wife and I did what you are doing in reverse back in the late 90’s and ended up staying in England for 10 years . Had our kids over there as well. We found our first couple of winters hard but you get used to it. On return it was like, was that winter? There are a lot of reasons why, but the rest of Australia has a massive chip on its shoulder when it comes to Melbourne. Another thing, football season is coming soon, you’re going to have to pick a team. Pick the mighty Pies, you’ll never look back!!!

Watched a few of your videos as it always interesting watching people live in a different country. From what I seen it does seem like you not ventured much out of the suburbs you living in. Surprised I not seen a video of your visit in the hills only an hour east of Melbourne. Sherbrooke forest is a must. No point settling down in a city for only a year and not really checking out the interesting places only a small drive away.
As for rental situation it seems you are living in an flat block or apartments so I suspect when people mention a rental crisis they are after a house with a backyard to rent. That seems a lot harder to find. Maybe people that happy to live in apartments are going to find it easier , like you both did.
