Comics shouldn't feel they need to be their own canned laughter. When the laugh is too consistently perfectly on mic, it's performing laughter instead of letting it be natural and authentic. I don't like canned laughter, even if it's a funny comic doing it for a joke that kills.
Nothing more annoying...and childish...than comics whining about getting in trouble for words. For once, I wish there was somebody in these talks to challenge them. Nobody, NOBODY stops a comic from making any joke they want, any rant they want....but if you're in business with somebody who has ZERO interest in offending even 1 customer, they're not going to work with you. So like everybody in life, you have a choice: "keep it real" and work for yourself or censor yourself so companies pay you lots of money. Unless you're a massive star, you don't get both...and it's the same in every job.
