The visuals & atmosphere of this short are utterly macabre, with chilling expectations & heart pounding pace from the start. A great example of how to craft a terrifying tale, making it come to life on film with fantastic acting, yet without the use of over-the-top cgi. Well done Morten.

I have seen a lot of horror movies, but this is the first time the protagonist had a natural reaction. First, when she saw the apparition for the first time and hid her face, second when she immediately called somebody to get her out of there. Also, great performance by the actress.

I agree with you, it’s not a perfect film and I’m still in a process of learning how to really craft suspense without taking “the easy way out”. Making films is really hard and it takes time to get good at it. Hope you like the next one better. Thanks for watching and commenting 😉
@@mortenhaslerud And it is perfectly fine, no one is going to nail it the first, second, third time, it does takes time and talent, I am not against the director/writers for doing what they did. My complains were directed to the judges/critics who shower these kind of things with awards/praise, it does nothing good for the people involved.

Currents, depth and the unseen dwell in water.
Yet we try to obtain some pleasure from it ; often we disastrously sad results.
Water is symbolic too of the subsciousness of mind.
We dream always about water. Water is life giving and thus also important in so many ways.
Fire is opposite the water but it cannot ever quench its incredible power.
What lurks in water ?
The unknown.

The film's visual presentation is truly stunning; the lighting contributes significantly to its overall aesthetics. Additionally, the performances delivered by all the actors are praiseworthy. However, I must admit that I'm not particularly fond of jump scares, especially when they are abundant in a short film. The lack of sufficient time to build tension for each jump scare resulted in a feeling of repetition, which, instead of keeping me on edge, left me feeling bored. Furthermore, the inclusion of a cliché ending, with the spirit's predictable appearance just before the conclusion, felt somewhat expected, given the familiarity of such occurrences in horror movies. Personally, I prefer narratives that allow the unsettling atmosphere to linger rather than resolving it with a final jump scare. This approach, I believe, would have been more effective and cohesive, particularly considering the thematic significance of the disappearing water. However, this is merely my perspective. Overall, the film demonstrates commendable workmanship.

still miss Anjelica , the Central female character in the last frightening scene where she could have replaced the old drowned ghost crying loud for help ...in anger ...
Infront of her bf so that he also think of reselling the old antikk bathtub from where his gf suddenly disappeared with no trace left behind and appeared as ghost ...
so according to mi story would have been in circle or loop with start and end same ... Moving antikk bathtub or things like these get passed from one to another and fortunately or unfortunately antikk lives on lives of so many people over the years..and they have a souls trapped inside them.... anyone like Anjelica who feels that soul , gets attracted towards them and finally becomes a part of that soul ...
Anyways that's my point of view..
But would recommend every one to watch...lot to learn from this masterpiece

Bathtub once upon Time in a old sea traveling where a lady kept as secret prisnor or slave by one of crew members present on ship which is bad omen and the journey of her from wooden old cabin /cage with bathtub along side her all the way through journey on ship till her soul set was freed into sea ..and her only way through communicate or contact outer world than sea is just water ...from sea water to water in bath tub..

So a scary water World filled with water creatures like souls nymphs witches to all the people standing on the sand ... one's tears not different from sea water... nobody can see ,of souls belonging to sea and one's tears same as sea water Which nobody wants to show them before anyone.. keeping eyes dry as much as sand Island..
Only untouched seashore or unseen ignored eyes or old antik bathtub can be best place door to get glimpse of this scary soul experience.. breaking and trapping souls for generations..

Thanks! We shot it on a BlackMagic pocket cinema cam, almost exclusively using natural light (candles etc). Just two-three additional lamps :)

Hi Pat! Thanks a lot. I’m very happy you enjoy my work! In my mind, the witch character was once a living person who met her end in a horrible way in the bathtub, and this is why her soul became trapped within the object. I once wrote a backstory about that, but ended up not using it in the actual film.
Can I ask how you filmed the ending section, with the deep water and being dragged by her ankle?
We actually filmed all the underwater shots sideways in a not-that-deep indoor pool (ca 6 feet deep) and then rotated the images in post, made the frame smaller within the frame and added more water and bubbles around her. So when she appears to be pulled downwards, she’s actually being dragged sideways. We also had to cover the white pool tiles behind her with black cloth and turn all the light off in the room, except for one really strong spotlight in front of her, representing the surface she’s swimming towards. If you go frame-by-frame in that sequence, you can actually see some of the bubbles going sideways instead of upwards because of this 😉
