Tried out a used pair courtesy of Matt and I gotta say these shoes were amazingly easy to jump into. Being a laver player for 90% of my footbag career I give these a huge thumbs up!
Great review! I just got mine in the mail and they are soo comfortable with wider toe area. Just had one session in them unmodded and have to say I prefer the toes on these versus Gunits, though the clipper is a bit thin (height wise) for my taste. That will likely just take a bit more getting used to. Really like how much less work it is to crank in these.
I have these shoes in black leather for wearing at work. Took a bit of time to break in, no big deal. Very comfortable and good for my Morton’s Neuroma with laces loose. Tonight I had to run through big parking lot to reach my car while it was pouring down rain. When I got home 15 minutes later my feet and shoes were dry 👍👍👍. They look good the way I dress. All positive for me with these shoes 🤓🤘.
Did you notice the shoe digging into the back of your achilles at all when you first bought them? How long did it take to break them in? I just bought a pair and I am concerned about the lack of padding around the heel collar.
@@TristWallace I wear them everyday and have no issue. Nothing is digging into any part of my foot. I am usually walking around quite fast when at work and these shoes are awesome.
I wanted to add, after playing in these a bit I am sizing down for my next pair from 12.5 to 12. I wear 12.5 in Reebok G-unit G6 and Adidas Rod Laver. I also have wide feet, which may be why I wear 12.5 for a skinnier shoe (Gunits and lavers).
@@PassBack The Cayds are bigger than my other 12.5 shoes. I like them tight on my left (big) foot as my feet are a full size different. My 12.5 G-unit, Climas, lavers are almost too tight on my left foot but slightly too big in these. These Cayds are soo nice though, once I get my 12s I will use the bigger pair for walking around 👍
Great stuff. One suggestion for the series going forward could be discussing how sizing runs. If you wear a size X in Lavers, should you also get a size X in Cayds? Maybe only worth mentioning if the sizing is notably different, but could be helpful.
I am considering buying a pair of these as my next shred shoe. The thing that's most making me hesitate is the weight. Given that they are priced twice the msrp of lavers, would it be worth it to buy cheaper running shoes and to get used to replacing them more often? Would lighter shoes be harder on my feet and joints?
It's hard to say how you personally would feel about the weight without having them on your feet, but even though they are a bit heavier than Lavers, I haven't run into anything yet (close to a year playing in them as my main shoe) where I've found the weight to be a hinderance. In regards to cheap running shoes, I think the bigger issue there rather than lifespan is going to be the surfaces; lighter isn't much better if you have to fight with the shoe on every contact. And I don't think lighter on its own is going to be harder on your feet, because that also factors in the sole and overall construction of the shoe (I'm in the process of reviewing a couple that are pretty light, one of which has a good athletic feel, and the other does not).
130 is too expensive for me. Im looking for a pair that will be better than the sketchers I have been using. Im not all that great or anything, just looking for something that has decent surfaces for stalling. Is there any cheaper replacement for the lavers?
We're doing our best to find some :) So far we haven't found anything (in current production) that's in the same price range and quality as Lavers, but we're always looking and will continue to make review videos as we find shoes worth sharing about!
I didn't experience this with my first pair, but on my second, I'm getting a bit of that discomfort on just my left achilles. Given that inconsistency, I don't have a good answer. I did just get some socks with padding on the heel to see if that will help.
Altra footwear rules! I never considered modding a pair but after seeing how good yours came out I want to try it!
Yes!! Been looking forward to this for a long time.

Great review. With enough shoegoo and my tendency to never play on concrete i bet these could last forever 🤣

Do you feel that your Lavers and G-Units are a bit big on you? I wear a snug 10 Laver and find a 10 Altra to be a good size.

It's a good thought. In this case the sizing was 1-1 for me.

I don’t understand what you remove material from the inside of the shoes.

I notice the Cayd's kinda dig into the back of my achilles. Does the heel break in ever? How long does it take for the shoe to get super soft?

I don't have anything relevant to say, I just wanted to be in the same comment section with all the legends up in here.
