"but you did not honour the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways" I felt that.

Thank you, Pastor David for this wonderful Bible commentary.
Regarding the handwriting, I learned that Babylonians spoke and wrote Akkadian semitic language, which is also a "lingua franca" language of Mesopotamia. The handwriting was most likely Aramaic based on other websites, hence it was cryptic and difficult to interpret by those people around Belshazzar.

A question: between the reign of Nebuchadnezzar and this one,was Daniel stripped from his position of ruler of provinces?

In verses 14 my esv version cites 'the spirit of the gods'. I have seen reference been made to these exact words in previous chapter. Can you please clarify where change in translation has been erred.

      Enduring Word Team:
This is likely a textual clarification for the audiences for whom the KJV, NKVJ, ESV and other versions were written - Belshazzar the king is speaking to Daniel, and Belshazzar is complimenting Daniel from the pagan worldview that he holds - Belshazzar believes that there are many gods and that the spirit of those gods must give Daniel his prophetic abilities.
The English translators of the text then must decide whether to use the words of Belshazzar as recorded in the text, or adopt the correct the understanding that the Christian Bible as we know it contains: that there is only one God, in three persons.
So the KJV, NKJV, and other versions have "Spirit of God" to remind us of the reality of our world, but the sacrifice of that choice is that it tells the story slightly differently, as if Belshazzar himself knew this, and also knew that Daniel served this God, instead of the likely case that, in the oldest manuscripts of Daniel, the king originally spoke to Daniel from his pagan worldview (as if there were many spirits of many gods and that Daniel was influenced by them). Both versions present a different worldview, but the important point is to understand that Belshazzar is speaking, and that from _his perspective_ , he believes in something like "the spirit of the gods," a term likely familiar to ancient audiences surrounded by pagan kingdoms, but which invites other connotations and implications in today's world (in the minds of some people, it might invite the idea that "the Bible itself speaks of other gods existing" when it reality it only attests to the pagan belief in gods other than the Lord God).

@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord thank you so much for responding. I am blessed by your teaching of the Truth and in me sharing with others, I want to be sure that the Word is rightly divided. I was wondering if both Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar still believed in some way that the spirit (though not possible for there is only One Living True God) of their pagan gods were what gave Daniel his ability to interpret the dreams. For me, I believe as many do today, that they were pretending to acknowledge God Almighty as the One true God and at the same time, giving credibility to the spirits of their pagan gods. If the accounts in my ESV Bible is misconstrued in some way, I was just wondering why Daniel never stood up and declare that the Spirit that was in him was from the Holy God in chapter 4 vs 8 and 9.
God bless you to keep on edifying us in His Word and I truly appreciate your teaching. Peace be with you Brother David 🙏.

@@AndreaPeters-uj2vp Those ancient cultures believed in gods that rules certain geographical regions. Though those ancient kings may have believed in the existence of Yahweh, he was considered Daniel's god, and not one that they surrendered to. I hope that this helps.
