My recent trip to Guatemala saw me taking four flights with Mexican flag carrier Aeromexico. It was my first time ever flying the airline and this series of videos will give you a most-recent insight into what flying Aeromexico internationally is like.
Today, we are flying from Chicago to Mexico City on the Aeromexico 737-800. You will get to see all aspects of the experience: from the check-in to onboard service and everything in between. Not only this but you will also learn about the travel requirements needed for Mexico and also Guatemala from the United States. Enjoy the journey!

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Based on this flight, a 7.6/10 score was awarded. While areas such as airport check-in, seat comfort, cleanliness, food, and punctuality were good, there were some in which I felt Aeromexico was lacking.
These included the boarding efficiency, which was poorly managed, as well as the entertainment. The inoperable IFE and poor WiFi (with no streaming options) contributed to points being docked. There were also parts of the experience that somewhat ruined it for me even before I stepped into the airport. These included the nightmare of a website and app that Aeromexico has.

Great Flight Report AS!
I’m eager to try AeroMexico one day if ever I travel to Mexico in the future.
I flew with them a couple of months ago and since the plane was full on all (4) flights, they asked if we wanted to co our carry-on for free.
I had a lot of similar tech issues with my recent flight on Aeromexico. On my flight down the IFE screen froze about 1 hour before landing and did the same thing as yours when I restarted it. On our return we couldn’t checkin online. That may have been since we booked our flight with Delta, but we had no issues checking in online in chicago. Neither Delta or Aeromexico could help with the online check in.

Very good video! Always wanted to learn more about Aeromexico so I really enjoyed this video and I’m sure I’ll enjoy the other Aeromexico videos! That boarding process is unfortunately not unique to Aeromexico. When I flew Alaska Airlines from ORD-SEA in 2022 there was also an extremely long line in the jetway for boarding. Disappointing.

Unfortunately it is common for Aeromexico to clogg up the bridge for boarding, I have experienced this in all my flights with them

Me and my parents flew to Guatemala with Aeromexico last month like you. We flew from San Antonio, TX to Guatemala with a connection in Mexico City on December 29 and returned to San Antonio, TX on January 10 with Aeromexico from Guatemala to San Antonio, TX with a connection in Mexico City. When we returned to San Antonio, Texas. In Guatemala they overcharge for the luggage and overcharge for food in the restaurant in Mexico City so my parents won't fly with them anymore.
You mention that you can't take the headphones. I keep it because I didn't know that I wasn't supposed to keep it until I heard you in this video.
Aeromexico is cool. I always use them out of Chicago as they are actually priced the same as or sometimes cheaper than volaris and viva. For that reason they rock. I just dislike the screens. It seems to be a common issue with ams screens

I'm suprised that after 15 years of checked bag fees being a thing on US legacy carriers that they do not allow you to pay ypur checked bag fee at the time of booking. You would think it would make the check in process more efficient.
A lot of non U.S. airlines go into service mood once they hit 10,000 ft. I experienced that with Air France on my way to Paris and it was jarring seeing that happened, flight attendants were moving around and passengers stood up, seat belt was off.
Huh.. I'm surprised you weren't successful at adding your KTN on the app. I've never had an issue including it when doing online check-in, must've been your lucky day haha
Nice observation, but in my personal opinion though, I think it would be best to book your flight with a travel agent than online. It's less hassle and better deals and it's best to fly in business class as well. You paid everything and great comfort and gaining access to the Delta SkyClub VIP lounge.
It always works for me. I only flew to Mexico City from Chicago in business class round trip and it cost $510 total. That was the best deal of my life and I got to carry two 70 pound baggages and had excellent services, and that was 2 years ago. And I still fly in business class with Aeromexico
Very interesting business class has such great deals through a travel agent! We usually book our tickets to Pakistan through a travel agent too. Because we were traveling in a group, it was preferred we booked online.
@@ASAviation it's also better for a group to reserve a flight with an agent as well. My cousin did that with her church group and saved more and again, it's less hassle with the airlines. But the best part about flying with Aeromexico Clase Premier, is flying back to Chicago. That's what I love the most since I live in the Chicago area, well Aurora and O'Hare is my second home all the time
I will give one advice: in Aeroméxico you need to do the check in in the airport, not in the website

Gotta try the new Mexican airline own by the state called Mexicana, Mexicana de aviación has been flying in Mexico sinse the 1920's, went bankrupted and made a comeback just a few months back... It's somthing like if PAN AM came back in the U.S.

You don’t get breakfast besides a tiny snack bag for flights 3-5 hours. 6-7 hour flights you get a small bread roll and a fruit cup nothing else.
Great Trip Report AS! I’m suprised it only takes 3 hours from Chicago to Mexico City I thought it would be way longer but I guess not! 😅 I’m so confused why they won’t let passengers take the earbuds off of the aircraft what if someone actually wears them? 😅😅

I've never had to call to get my tsa precheck loaded onto my account or boarding ticket/pass.. they have an option to add that on your profile with them.. Aeroemxico has always been good airline in my opinion. The boarding process looks similar to Delta, Alaska and even American Airlines so I don;t know why you were so shafted by that? lol idk everything you kinda knocked off points for seems like you'd encounter it frequently elsewhere.
That construction of the airport in the Texcoco region was to be the replacement to Benito Juarez Airport and was favorable by all carriers domestically and internationally but was met with protests by locals and AMLO (Sheinbaum replacing him soon) killed it off saying it was too expensive and favored the Santa Lucia location to build a new airport.
You think Aeromexico is bad, try VivaAerobus or Volaris. A bus from Ciudad Juarez to CDMX will get you there, and get you there faster.

Because of this video, I will assume you are now trilingual--English,Urdu and Spanish! You're not spending much time being a summer intern in Rockford--jetting off to Dallas for the AI 2023 convention and now jetting to Guatamala for a humanitarian mission. Did you have a choice in carriers to Mexico City or did your group's leaders select the carrier? That takeoff roll was long probably because of the fuel load, the tourist season being in effect with the associated bags and perhaps a near sold out flight. Pleased to see you gave in to your friend's dare on travel attire!
Any one has experience flying with babies under 2 years old? From Chicago to Mexico City.

Really only the United States gives the 6 months passport expiring enforcement . I am Canadian and have witnessed this many times .
earphone is the most strange thing on this airline, "do not remove form this aircraft" i only seen this word on safety cards, not on earphone!
You got a whole breakfast meal, meanwhile everytime i fly with Aeromexico we always get peanuts or cookies 😂😂, did u buy the meal or what.?
If a bag is that large do not put in front of you, but it i the overhead rack, duh

Basic economy is only with regards to the fare (luggage allowance and extra fees). The seat itself and IFE do not have anything to do with it.
@@ASAviation I know how fare structures work. You bought the cheapest ticket and your entitlement to gripe about everything under the sun was rather tacky. If you had bought a more expensive ticket, then you would have room to talk.

ADVERTENCIA!!!NO VIAJES CON AEROMEXICO
Fue realmente una pesadilla viajar con Aeromexico de regreso a casa en Texas. Desafortunadamente tienes que documentar tu equipaje con los incompetentes empleados de Aeromexico en el mostrador en Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas (no todos los empleados de Aeromexico son idiotas pero los de Tuxtla si lo son. TELO ASEGURO). Mi vuelo salía el 03-Enero 2024 De Tuxtla para Ciudad de Mexico Y despues de 2 horas a Texas. Pero DESPUES que me documentaran mi equipaje, me dan mis boletos y literal cuando ya estoy en la fila para abordar el avión. Se me acerca esta persona tan desagradable que anterior mente me había documentado las maletas y me dice que no voy a poder abordar el avión porque Aeromexico sobrevenido los boletos. en otras palabras, vendieron mas boletos aunque no haya asientos disponibles y esto es legal aunque estos nunca me paso con ninguna otra aerolínea y estado viajando en avión ya por 15 anos. El punto es que no me dejaron subir al avión con mi esposa, 2 hijas de 8 y 7 y un niño de APENAS 2 anos . Otras familias sin niños subieron al avión sin problemas. Y el idiota que me atendió se le ocurrió que la familia que se quedaría a batallar un día mas seria la familia que traen niños menores!
Ah pero me dijeron que no me preocupara que me iban a rentar un hotel y pagar la comida y que al día siguiente me darían otro vuelo. El problema fue que los 5 de nosotros nos enfermamos con la comida del hotel de quinta y el vuelo que me dieron ahora es de Tuxtla para Mexico DESPUES a Los Angeles y después a Texas . (todo el día de 8am a 12am en aeropuertos con niños) Pero cuando llego a Mexico me dirijo al servicio al cliente y ahi me dicen que si hay vuelos directos a Texas que no tengo que ir para Los Angeles que no saben porque me querían mandar a Los Angeles cuando había muchos asientos disponibles . Para colmo cuando llego llego a Texas resulta que mi equipaje se perdió ! NECESITO UN REMBOLSO COMPLETO DE MI VUELO. ESTARE TAMBIEN EN CONTACTO CON EL CORPORATIVO SI ESTO NO SE RESUELVE PRONTO.

Amazing trip report! A unique airline on the channel but didn’t look too different from the general us carriers other than a fairly better meal also nothing worse than a clogged jetway while making trip reports!!!!
