The Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary's mission is to provide a self-sustaining African carnivore sanctuary for the purposes of wild species preservation through education, awareness, and funding, especially pertaining to the rapid decline of large carnivores in Africa due to habitat loss, human-predator conflict, unscrupulous hunting, disease, and their illegal trade.
To raise awareness, Kevin has now set up his TH-cam Channel 'LionWhispererTV'. The channel is all about raising awareness about not only the declining numbers of lions but also how this rapid decrease is happening. By watching these videos, you are directly contributing to our scheme of land acquisition.
Kevin captures the majority of his footage on GoPro cameras, allowing the viewer to get as close as possible to the lions.
By doing this, Kevin hopes to give people an insight into the lives of these beautiful creatures and to let them see just what they can do to help. You can nearly touch them.
This was the video that made me fall in love with this pride and Livy in particular. I am returning to it today in tribute to Livy.

I remember when Vayetse lost his brother it was so so sad the way he was crying & crying!! Libby and Ginny were introduced to Vayetse and the rest is history!!
It’s so incredible to see Vayetsi lie on his back and just be so vulnerable and cat-like around him. Like he’s not defensive or nervous at all, just so trusting

@Charley Mack I suspect we are saying very similar things. Too many people project human behavior onto animals rather than recognizing them as unique creatures with their own way of expressing emotion. Some of their behaviors may mimic human expression of emotions but the reality is they have their own unique way of expressing the full gamut of emotions.

I remember Mufumu dying from a snake bite...and the other lions had started eating him partially, it was heart breaking watching Vayetse calling for his brother non stop with the look of sorrow on his eyes. That's about the same time I started following Kevin's story as well
Vayetse's so funny, he's like: "Less talky more scratchy" ...and Jenny, definitely wanted her 'pillow' to stay put... she almost looked hurt that you got up lol

I remember The Lion Ranger episode “Death in the Kingdom”, when Mufumu died. Vayetse was so scared and upset. He was afraid of Livy and Ginny. He got behind Kevin and would peek at the girls and growl when he first met them. I have a special place in my heart ❤️ for Vayetse.

I remember when Vayetse's dearest brother Mfumu died and he was pining desperately. It broke my heart! It was a miracle when Ginny & Livy went to live with him. He was a happy, snappy lion again!💕🦁💕 Vayetse is the sweetest, most beautiful lion!

I remember when Veyetse’s brother died. Kevin and his 2nd in command when to find him a companion and got 2 sisters, Livy and Ginny. They were trouble. I remember Kevin talking about them teaching Veyetse bad habits. But, Kevin got them straightened out fairly quickly! He was afraid of them. Kevin had to sit with them for several days to help him get used to them. It was a really sweet thing. I can’t believe it’s been that long ago. Time does fly!
What bad habits exactly?
@@nicolereyes4022 They taught him to play a little more on the rough side. I think when they were young, they managed to rip his shirt. It was nice that Vayetse got companions but they were all too playful to handle 😂

Nearly impossible to disturb a resting cat, of any size! Many times felt my bladder was going to burst as I put off relieving it since my cat was sleeping on my lap!😸

Humans are just generally more complicated to understand then animals. Not to mention he has spent LOADS of time with each and every one of the lions, but i do agree he does a great job at having all of his animals seem more human then not. I think that is a great thing so people understand how important animal life is. You can tell by just looking at a lions eyes they have feeling and emotions. They are thinking and feeling. So at least they got that going for them. Its a lot harder to convince people that something like snakes have feelings and emotions, because snakes can't really make facial expressions like a lion can.

How is he lucky? You make your own path in this world or follow the taken path. It is obvious Kevin has worked extremely hard and he understands that intimate friendship with big cats or canines. He doesn't view himself as a owner.

Vayetse and Gandalf are my two favorite lions simply because of their stunning beauty and yes, all lions are perfect and beautiful. These two devastatingly glorious, gorgeous boys take the best photos I think. Vayetse has paws the size of a football if not bigger.

I have watched that documentary kev where mofomu and vayetse had such a strong brotherhood relationship in there cubs age.. RIP mofomu he was even more protective loving showing affection and they used to sit together side by side to watch each other like a true brothers literally cried when mofomu was bited by a venomous snake and vayetse crying calling him around.. Such a heartbreak to see.. If he would have survived this pride with two big male brotherhood of vayetse and mofomu would have been like meg and Amy..Love you Kevin for all the good work you do lots of love and blessings for you. Vayetse is my favorite of all the lions. When I saw the episode on Animal Planet that showed his reaction to how his brother died, my heart went out for him. Seeing him recover with Ginny and Livy was such a relief. It's been so rewarding to see through your videos how he's grown into such a majestic lion. You have such amazing compassion for him and other others, Mr. Richardson; they're lucky to have you looking out for them.

Those small cages are actually quite large enclosures that the lions, hyenas and leopards live in.

Vayetse is really very handsome and I adore the cute purring sounds he makes. Real cuddly love bug that one. And he has those beautiful girls to keep him company too. It's allways lovely seeing this pride. They're so good-natured. Vayetse seems to be such a swetheart (with the ones that he knows and likes). They all seem really happy, healthy and content with life. You guys at the sanctuary are doing a great job.

I saw a video in Africa, a hunter kill a lion while he was sleeping, I got so mad when I saw that, why for a stupid trophy. They need to stop this immediately. We have to protect Lions in general 🦁❤️

totally agree. Its easy to see Vayetse clearly loves Kevin! I love that Kevin under estimates how much these animals love him. I think he does under estimate it.
I know its an eye opener so how conscious animals are with their own personalities and how loving they can be. The love from them all to Kevin is evident I suspect because he loves them too and has their best interests at heart and they sense this!

imagine the suffering these types of captive animals did at the hands of cruel "tamers", etc., who cared nothing for them or their lives, losses, hurts, etc. We are woefully behind on coming out of the dark ages of how to treat all animals. We still have lots of improving to do.
People appreciate you for what you do. You inspire others with your love and passion to these animals. I hope more and more people and myself can make this kind of impact in this world.
