As a two RS Turbo car owner for 37 years, I feel your pain. After 20 odd years sat in garage and years of hard work, at 196BHP, this thing scares the sh-t out of me. At 9psi it's fast, at 19psi , it's Mental. All poly bushed so no torque steer, Gaz suspension amounts to no suspension re speed bumps and potholes, Too old now to cope so car and newly rebuilt engine and a garage full of spares is going up for sale. Wish I could afford to mothball it and still buy a Porsche but my 2.4 Honda and the Red Beast cost 1300 quid a year to tax and insure, way too much on the sh-t State Pension. Don't want to think how much money went into the resto.
Love your enthusiasm and the fact that you’re giving credit to those who helped you get the car back on the road … brilliant! … and the spooky thing is that I live in North East Fife but was brought up in Ayrshire! Your final comment about ‘can’t imagine ever selling your car’ … I’m the same, and coz my car’s a bit ‘unconventional’ my kids won’t know what to do with it! 🤣
Great video. I had a 88 F in Radiant Red got the 90 spec front bumper rear spoiler put on. Loved it had it from 93 to 2003. It was absolutely stunning. Spent hours detailing it every weekend. Loved that colour. Eventually when I had to sell it, honestly I could not give it away. Put it in paper for £2300, not a call. Eventually part x it for £2100. Wish I would have kept it. Loved your video my friend. Enjoy the car, it's a credit to you. ❤
Thanks for sharing that story, I’m an OG ford guy I owned a mercury grey one F634 PPU and numerous Cosworths here in Ardrossan. Love the plate too, I’ve owned a silver grey manual e46 m3 coupe for 7yrs now and also a UFO 🛸 plate 👏🏻👍🏻
Love those cars, owned a 1990 mercury grey one with a twin headlight mod. Even after just a few years, the bodywork showed quite a bit of rust, so I sold her. Still regret that decision!
Can't beat a red rst My dad bought his in 91 F87 RHP Owned it 12 years and bought a Sapphire cosworth My brother bought it off my dad Spent a fortune at collins performance it was about 240bhp Then I bought it after my brother then our cousin bought it Then it went off to jersey I think in around 2008 and haven't heard anything since Great car great fun and look epic Great video fella 😊
I used to rip the crap out of this car, and it could hand the abuse. It blew the head gasket many times. The best way to solve this issue is to use a metal head gasket with long head bolts that tighten from the top like a wheel nut . They should have made the engine with a 16 valve head..
Hard to believe these were such garbage cars in the US. My mom had an 85 model and it had oil changes every 3k miles and engine died at 50k MI. Same basic body style as this one but without flares and such.
Great car, great story. Well done you.
Good on you for saving the car and you hold on to her.
Great stuff, well done fella
What a cracking car, great restoration.
