Ah geeze my dragon's *NECK* is upside-down SMH. Doesn't change anything other than facing the gold strip down, but still.. [repeatedly bangs desk with face]. At least we raised a lot of funds for charity during the build of this beast. Review's gonna be a fail for so many viewers due to that small detail and I do not have a whole day to spare redoing the entire thing from scratch.
@@JANGsLEGOreviews Doesn't matter too much, keep up the great vids 🔥
To be fair, it looks pretty good upside down.
Personally, I'm impressed you could focus at all with those gorgeous sprites next to you!
Haha I didnt notice! It looks really good upside down!
Aw man, don’t beat yourself up too much. I’m sorry people judge the whole review by one small mistake. And thank you for informing us about the error, a lot of people try to hide their mistakes
Thank you for the review. That was quite a throne thrown on top of the dragon.
Does the neck joint have the same weak feel when rotated 180°? Do the side pieces still pop off? This is a set I like. But can't justify buying at the moment.
This is one I got almost immediately when I saw it on stores and brought it to college with me. Truly one of the best dragons ever and worth it's giant price
And thete was me circa 2010 saying Lego had gone down the wrong path with Ninjago (self administered uppercut).
@@isomorph7954 me administered uppercut. Ninjago is and always was an awesome brand. I got into it in 2012 during Rise of the Snakes. But I've loved it ever since, it's my favorite Lego brand.
Between this set, the Cole Titan Dragon mech, and Tournament Temple City, Ninjago coming out strong with this August wave.
I agree with cloth wings, but the nice thing about the plastic ones are they look better on the underside.
@@greenhill004 and they can be translucent
I haven't caught up to the series yet but this dragon alone makes me want to buy this set and finish the new Ninjago story lol
The new series is so worth it
The newest season of dragons rising is wonderful :3 season one was great too
13:16 : DJ Khaled jumpscare
I don't know a thing about Ninjago but every so often their sets hit out of the park. Last time I went to a Lego store and bought a Ninjago set on release was Hydro Bounty and now this one. Did not disappoint.
watch ninjago it's genuinely amazing, not even by kids show standards but regular shows
the tendril arm things remind me of when characters would "chi up" in chima and have the big chi ghost behind them. now I just need it in blue...
Yeah this thing is amazing. This is why I'm glad sketch models are designed before the 3D model in the show is, as the designer made those horns out of those grappling hook pieces, making the Source Dragon really stand out.
Be careful with the latest batches of vinyl wings. They are thinner and less durable than previous releases.
I wish they still had trans yellowish green in sets so we could see the dragon mold in that coulor
Yeah, I’m definitely bummed that these may never exist in the classic Lego trans colors
Happy to see more ninjago reviews!
Wait until they replace this with the next biggest ninjago dragon in less than 2 years time...
I imagine they're already working on that
You say this like its a bad thing 😂
Only a few other dragons they can do that with lol.
@@duststudstudios608 Replace ? No it will be another dragon.
@@lssproductions3180That their job.
Happy to see Rivendell and Barad Dur in your back😊
i want a new smaug in a similar scale using similar techniques
Want a lil' spirit dragon battle pack.
Did not expect to get jump scared by DJ Khalid in a Jangbricks video.
I think this is one of the sets that will also have a lot of fans of the D&D/fantasy lines.
Really wish lego would’ve stuck to the way of building dragon heads like they did for lloyds dragon from the ninjago movie, because I personally don’t think the current stile fits really well with the eastern vibes ninjago is based on. But other than that this dragon is amazing I would’ve exploded with happiness if I got this as a kid
Dragon sprites look amazing. Thank you for the review Jang.
This along with elemental dragon (jiro) are the best dragons, looks great beside each other
I got that set for $65 at my local Walmart, I think they're making room for new sets.
A big LEGO dragon? I couldn't be happier with it.
I almost wish they made a more detailed 18+ display model of a dragon with 1500+ pieces
Great video Jang, that dragon is huge my man
This is why oh I like your reviews. Because they're honest and they're not swayed as if you had gotten it for free. But for real the prices for Lego have been insane and they really need to find ways to cut back while maintaining quality
I'm 100% getting this as soon as I'm not flat broke. I need her.
EPIC dragon great detail awesome minifigs great review jang 👍
Kudos lego. You have offered some great new pieces including a new dragon animal mold. This set is awesome!
Thanks for the great breakdown and video - this looks like an incredible set to keep an eye out for a sale!
This set is such a dilemma for me: love the brick-built dragons (and other creatures) and this one is amazing construction! Plus those little transparent drakes! But I don’t like red or gold, which means I don’t have much desire to leave this on display and I wouldn’t make much use of the parts after I disassembled it. I know-that’s a ‘me’ thing.
I’m trying to think of the color lessening my interest as a good thing: one fewer set fighting for a spot in my budget.
Combine this dragon with Lion Knight castle = a pro max plus version of D&D red dragon's tale
Just picked this model up myself, absolutely love it! Was hoping to see the review when I got it, I'm glad it's here! It's such an astonishing build to me, and the build experience has also been great for me so far. Can't wait for the cole's titan mech review!
He has already reviewed the mech
@@bricksfordom oh wait right, I forgot about that lol. Never mind, thanks for the reminder
this is my favorite review of the dragon so far, all the other reviews i have seen don’t really treat it like a toy! like how easy is it to handle. going trough its range of motion👍 (not that i have a problem with the lego reviewer community at large, different creators contribute differently)
I was in Japan last month, went into a Lego sort (because obviously) and saw this model. I was absolutely stunned by it.
I haven’t really been following Ninjago for a number of years, but this really got me intrigued. It was absolutely gorgeous in person, especially when it caught me by surprise haha
@10:15 “[the Source Dragon of Motion] has limits to its motion” 🤔🤔🤔
Such a cool sword piece which we will probably never see again 😞
Seeing a Lego dragon this big just makes me reeeally hope they do a giant Tiamat for the D&D line 🐲
Great review. Thanks Jang
Great Review! This is definitely a Heater LEGO Set!
Sometimes Lego makes a set that i only want to build and not keep... This is on of them. 😁😁
Yeah this one is really the best
This set is speactacular. Thanks for showing it off.
Am I the only one who feels that this dragon is too big? Especially when looking at the wings, it's difficult for me to believe this thing can fly. I feel like they should either gone with longer wings (not wingspan, I mean how far it stretches backwards), or go with the unagami/stormbringer approach with that shape that works surprisingly well with a bit of imagination. Also, this thing must be a nightmare to display unless you have a empty coffee table ready. I wish ninjago went back to the small 20-40$ dragons, as they were easily displayable and affordable.
On the other hand, the texturing on this dragon is perfect, the minifigure selection is perfect, and the dragon spirits are a nice inclusion. If only they could make a
This is the perfect size for Klauth from the Forgotten Realms...
Im saving up for this big lass now
Dragon looks so cool
another great review. I enjoy every single one of them, even on the sets that aren’t too interesting to me 👍🏻
Why couldn’t they do Firstbourne justice like this. Mother of all dragons and a source dragon gets the way better model.
just replace the gold with black and it's pretty close
Great review! It's mad that I've had this set sitting on my shelf for a whole month now, since it came out a way sooner in Europe. Jang, would you ever consider buying from Europe to get ahead of reviews for certain sets?
Personally, I love this dragon. But my main issue was the same, it needed a bit more posing ability. Especially, in my opinion, with the neck swiveling from side to side. And knees would have gone a long way. Ironically, the Dragon of Motion is lacking in motion. Saying that, I 100% understand why it is like that. The stability of this thing is impressive.
That wolve guy with the "ridiculous" accessories, I absolutely love! Those ghost claw things are an amazing design. You can swing them around and they won't get in the way of the minifigure's movements, such as his arms, his sword, his head, etc. They give a lot of room for play, which is great in you don't have the tiniest of fingers. Also, you can so easily get him to swipe and knock another figure over with those big arms. I see this is a very successful toy design.
Decisions decisions.
This or the d&d dragon?
Immense dragon indeed. Great review Jang
So it's bigger than Firstbourne? In my opinion Fristbourne is huge.
@@thesilverblader6714 its the biggest dragon ever. Firstbourne was 53cm long, this one is 63cm, so a 18% increase in length. Also I agree that Firstbourne was already huge, I feel that unlike the mech, this being the biggest dragon just means it'll take up more space and be harder to display.
Very impressive to say the least!
my birthday's in a few days, definitely been planning to get this for myself for my birthday, just gotta plan out room for it 😅
My overall set of the year so far. Looks awesome, great figures, good price
Wow! This set looks awesome! Might pick it up… 🤔
In some ways, this is the best dragon they ever made, but in others, it's a pretty weak showing. The way the hind legs are permanently splayed out like that looks really silly. Personally I always prefer poseability over "plonkability".
But waist articulation? Elbow joints? That's epic! I hope they keep that around in future dragon builds. (Also I'm excited that the heavy-duty joints are now available in Red and Dark Red.)
I haven't looked at the instructions yet, so disregarding the ingenuity that went into the internal construction, only based on what is visible in the finished model, I wish this was 100€.
it's heavy man, the core is so dense it's insane
As a big fan of dragons, I do plan on getting this set at some point. It is very beautiful and the size is great, but the only negative is the articulation.
The dragon should have had knees, and removed the ankle blockers/limiters. With the many bricks that Lego has, there are ways to make the dragon stable and have proper articulation.
This may not seem like a completely fair comparison, but look at the latest Cole's Titan Mech set. The articulation in that set is the best and has all the articulation it needs.
Lego can do the same thing with dragons.
the last dragon of similar stature, the golden ultra dragon, completely collapsed and you could not stand it up at all. i'd rather have limited posing than no stability
The older I get (Im 21 and have been a fan of Ninjago since 2011) the more I, I guess distance myself from the Mech, Dragon, and even Vehicle sets since I tend to find the first two somewhat repetitive, in favor of location sets but if there is a dragon set to buy this is THE set to buy so I will be buying it
Wooo i love this set. Cant wait till i inevitablely buy it
Many larger dinosaur fossils seem to have a larger haemal arch down the underside of their tails. I can't find my source or any source that says it clearly, but I heard it posited that this would reduce the up-down motion of said tail. I don't think it would limit it entirely, but its flexibility that way would be quite lower.
What’s second biggest dragon? Grief bringer?
Nice video, great dragon. Too bad it has vinyl-wings. Experience showed that they will start twisting and curling after a while. Got a spare pair of cloth wings from kai´s firedragon, maybe I can make them fit with a little mod.
Its the first set I ordered from overseas, cost me around 240 USD total with shipping.
I bought this set just for the dragon.
What is the mech with the butterfly wings next to optimus prime ?
Is it better than the DnD dragon? Might want to replace it with this one.
Amazing dragon
Kind of a random aside, but I’ve only bought a set that was missing a piece two times out of dozens and both times it was with a “celestial” themed Monkey Kid set, the Heavenly Realms and the new Celestial Pagoda. Thankfully it’s super easy to replace, I’ve had some great experiences with the customer service, I bought a set for my friend and it never left a warehouse so they refunded it and I think I got to keep my special discount points.
"Another one" 😂😂😂
Should i get this set or the final flight of destiny bounty for my birthday i feel like in a couple years this set will be very expensive
Looks awesome
The dragon is almost oerfect i wish the wing peice was bigger it like lloys legendary dragon
Thank you for this review
Great!🎉🎉🎉
haha - definitely a baddy seat
incredible set
Awe man why vinyl wings? Cmon Lego!
because they're partially transparent
Great stuff Lego! Now just stop making all of your "largest yet" dragons for Kai (i.e. red). Give some love to Zane, Cole or Nya for once in the dragon side of things, please!!!!!
hey, cole got the biggest mech ever this same wave
Lego putting main characters like Arin in these extremely expensive sets is just cheating on the target demographic (kids) and something should be done about this.
?? What about the $50 set that has him, or the $16 set that has him?
@@JANGsLEGOreviews I meant the new summer wave design of Arin that kids may want to obtain
Bro you can get Arin in Small sets AND magazines AND books
Its kind of a shame that legos makes the best dragon ever the same year they make a very disappointing dragon for dnds 50th anniversary. Ill get this as soon as i see it.
noice
Idk seems like First Born is good enough, i'll save my money.
And the wings look tiny.
@@cjp1599 it's better in my opinion
that wolf guy is giving me huge razor vibes from genshin impact, if those arms can get recoloured into trans pink that would be amazing.
love the dragon, probably too big and too expensive for me though
It does look good but I can no longer justify buying sets that would have looked equally good with over 50$ worth of bricks taken out. And how are kids, the main target audience, supposed to afford this?
There are 17 other Dragons Rising from the second series alone that are cheaper, all the way down to $10.
I think kids are used to waiting. A set like this is birthday gift level. To me it hasn't changed much since the 90s. When I was a kid if I wanted a big set like this it would be for a birthday or Christmas. And I was going to play with it meaning waiting a year or more for another expensive gift wasn't that big of a deal. Adults have a different mindset forgetting that $20 USD in 1998 is equivalent to $40 USD today. There are sets that I think are overpriced but kids couldn't afford it in the 90s either.
@@JANGsLEGOreviews I do agree with you but his point does stand that if you take out a significant amount of bricks it could be about as big and look as good.
@@Mario6732 This would not look just as good with $50 worth of bricks taken out. That's 1/3 of the set's price. What a bonkers statement.
Amazing design, But too big to be fun and proves Lego is not good for building huge models.
