    Well I’m in Florida and was raised in a naval orange grove. I decided to follow in my dads foot steps and bought 2 orange trees. After watching dozens and dozens of videos that had no info that addressed my leaf problems I found your spot. Funny that someone from UK told me exactly what my leaf problems are🎉👏

    I’m a native Floridian and have never grown citrus trees 🤦🏼‍♀️! Shame on me as I do grow many other plants. However I am grateful to have found your channel and love the irony! I told my husband that I am learning about citrus leaf problems from some guy in England! He chuckled and thought that was funny! Thanks again !!! Happy planting 🪴🙌🏻☺️

    Citrus are very forgiving plants and 'communicate' their discomfort quite well. I made a mistake when I first bought my Bears lime tree. I was so paranoid about over-watering (hear about it on most videos) that I failed to water adequately and the leaves curled as yours did in the last example. I gave the plant one good soak and left it, it forgave me and is now prospering. It seems like limes appreciate a 'good watering' then being allowed to almost dry out - as opposed to regular watering. I only plan to leave my trees out in the best of the summer month(s), realistically it won't cope here outside of that brief period. I aim to heat the greenhouse and insulate with bubble wrap. I will also have peaches, melon and Yuzu keeping the lime company. Thanks for the video, the advice on troubleshooting was great - and no doubt we will all experience some of these problems as we are effectively growing a non native, exotic plant in less than ideal circumstances! Take care! Vox.

    Massively helpful. I’ve got a lemon “tree” starting thanks to your suggestion. I’m calling it my Christmas dinner lemon tree because that’s where I got the seed from. All the best.

    i thought i had lost my young potted naartjie (South African clementine) when ALL the leaves had yellowed and fallen off.
    But in the spring some new shoots popped up from just below the old branches, and 3 months later he (i call him Archie) is full of leaves again.
    I learned my lesson: i moved him into a more sunny spot, and only water him every 2 weeks, now.

    Great moderation of your own video. Beneficial info. I have a larger Meyers Lemon tree and live in Evans, Colorado, USA. The very tips of the leaves of my Myers Lemon tree are turning yellow. After watching your video, I looked at my tree. The leaves were cupped up on the edges, and a water meter probe showed it was very moist in the soil. So I will let this plant dry out some. I have a dwarf Mangerine tree that is doing incredible, but it gets more light on a chair on my patio. The Lemon is on the floor and does not receive much direct light. Mostly just very bright light. Thanks for confirming my concerns. I watched your video after thinking it might be overwatering, poor sunlight, or both. In this case, it will probably do better once I let it dry out a few days. Plus, I will make sure to spray CAL/MAG (American Item with calcium, magnesium, and many other items) on its leaves to help give it a boost without wetting the soil. Something I spray on my TEA plant leaves and my Glory Bower. Due to limited space, I will see if I can locate an item to put the tree up a foot or so. The balcony has a solid rail that knocks out most of the direct light.

    Hi! Spring greetings from deep-freeze Berlin!
    May I give a recommendation?! If you get so much rain, you may consider mixing a much more well-draining potting mix. As you pointed out, Citrus plants like it hot and not too wet. So you may want to try cactus and succulent mix in order to keep your trees drier.
    I grow mine in a mix of coco cuir, compost, horticultural sand, and mineral grit (pumice, lava, zeolith). This mix lets water drain out and prevents root and leaf damage.
    I give my citrus plants worm castings several times during the summer season; and they are pest- and disease-resistant. I am going to repot my plants as soon as the frosty nights are over; and that will be the day when I add worm castings to the potting mix.
    Happy growing! Best wishes from Berlin!
    Marc

    I live in Canada so I had to keep my lemon and lime trees indoors all winter I lost all the leaves on my lemon tree poor thing was only branches and I thought that I lost it but lucky it started to sprout new leaves, and I had mealy bugs on both of them so I sprayed them with neem oil and got rid of them, can’t wait for the weather to warm up to take them outside, good luck with your lemons :)

    Thank you! I have been seeing this “leaf curl” from Colorado down to Texas and just bought a ton of plants that have it and have been freaking out that it was that mite that causes the blisters (thats all I knew of from the willows in Colorado)! Comforted knowing that the majority of the plants I bought are probably overwatered/need to be repotted! Getting ready to pot all mine and will be trying the “dry soil” method and not watering them after transplant! Thank you!

    I have a meyers lemon tree, planted it in the ground in late October 2019. In Bullhead city AZ. Thru the winter it dropped all it's leaves. I made a shade box for it to keep it out of the direct sun in the dry 115 degree heat. The problem is, it grew 5 or 6 new leaves, and many new buds, they all died back. I put mushroom compost from home depot. Watered it real good. It started to sprout all over the place. I wait two days. I water it real good again and now the little tiny new growth is browning and dying back before it even gets started. I have the trunk painted white, with a barrier around it to keep the compost off the trunk. I'm thinking of getting it out of the ground putting in a pot and returning it to home depot. Any Idea's?

    I experienced this leaf curl on my tomato plants last season in my self watering container garden. It was my first year trying self watering containers. I am now about to start my second season with self watering containers and it would be fantastic to hear your opinion on these containers. My journey into self watering containers began after reading Ed Smith's book on the subject. Please do a segment on them.

    • @ProjectDiaries
      @ProjectDiaries  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which kind of containers are you using?

    • @chuckhollands7528
      @chuckhollands7528 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made my own based on the instructions in Ed's book. Using a storage container, cutting the lid down a bit so it fits down into the container. Cutting vinyl downspout tubing into 5" lengths to support the lid in the bottom. This creates the reservoir. Two holes in the lid at two of the downspouts for the wicks.

    • @chuckhollands7528
      @chuckhollands7528 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When last season ended and I broke down my containers, I noticed that the lids sagged a bit and the roots seemed to go straight for the reservoir. This season I'm using a more sturdy storage container and I've also line them with garden cloth to try and keep the roots from the reservoir and into the soil.

    I got a lemon tree for Christmas. A few days later all the leaves fell of. It had a few flowers left then put it under a light a few hours a day I got tons of flower buds but that’s it some of those fell off .not sure what I can do I have. It over watered it. Just waiting for the nice weather to come so it may do better outside

    Citrus trees don't like heating in winter, it might be better to leave them in the shed on the window sill there or else just don't turn on the heat in the spare room.

    Would a fabric around the roots (minus the pot) help to dry up the excess moisture faster for your poor little trees? I've seen root bags advocated before, but it doesn't seem too difficult to improvise an alternative.

    Hello thanks a lot! So the curly marbled lemon leaves could be due to overwatering and fungus or even to either? because I know I haven’t overwatered my lemon (pot planted) as it’s quite dry and sunny here.
    I had noticed the tiny micro black bugs on the underleaves a month ago and so started spraying them with your special solution: but now they’re curly with no bumps but have a marble like foliage pattern.

    Excellent video, I'm currently growing a peach tree outside and planted it about 2 weeks ago. It's nearly 6 feet tall and bought it from a store. I see that the leaves are curling slightly and with some yellowing of the leaves. I've read some tips that say peach trees need 5-10 gallons of water a week (pardon my American measurements). Is this accurate? I've been trying to give 6 gallons a week on average. I'm trying to see if I'm over watering or not enough. I usually do a deep watering with most of the 6 gallons at once or split it between 2 days. Love your videos. Thank you sir.
