    I currently use Uniters for my product, it has phenomenal adhesion and retention. How well does this stand up to high friction applications like a wallet or watch strap? I need my edges to last for years.

    • @leathertoolz
      @leathertoolz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It endures sunlight and water very well. keeps it's color. for Wallet and watch strap, it is very recommened. however, like all product, at some degree, this is not a bulletproof.

    We never apply tokonole when using with conventional edge paint. This is revolutionary for me. One question, does it peel off like edge paint do when you apply to thick a coat with this cova super?

    • @leathertoolz
      @leathertoolz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Boon! It does peel off when it's applied thick. This is for only thin layer. so this is not edge coat. this is more "color finishing agent" I have no idea what magical stuff they did it here but surely this is an interesting product. This is recommended for vegetable tanned leather. can be used on chrome or soft leather as well but should be extra careful not to be thick. ; )

    Is it true that cova super is made of beetle saliva?

  • @TheWoodWorkingPilot
    @TheWoodWorkingPilot 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just tried it for the first time but I think my Cova Super became too thick. How do you thin it out?
    How do you clean it of the brush?

    • @leathertoolz
      @leathertoolz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Diluting can be a problem. Wash the brush in water

    Looks interesting! Could it also work after using other burnishing gums like Tokofinish or Tokopro?

  • @tigriske
    @tigriske 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    what are the advantages of it against a typical edge paint? It looks a bit slow to burnish the same edge 3 times. So why this could be better? Thanks :)

      @leathertoolz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did it a bit slower in the video but this is faster than edge coat. easier than edge coat. you don't need any sanding and dries much faster.

    Does this work with chrome tan or just veg tan?

    • @leathertoolz
      @leathertoolz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Recommended for veg tan!
      but chrome also possible but don't do it lightly, too thick can peel off. this is same for veg tan also.

    12:55 Why would you want the edge of your leather to look like this?? It looks artificial and way over the top. It looks like a piece of plastic. You never see any of the best leatherworkers having edges like this....for good reason!

    • @glenbuyer8738
      @glenbuyer8738 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve seen loads of awesome leatherworkers use edge coats, looks nice on the right project

    • @Jer0867
      @Jer0867 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glenbuyer8738 I love a nice, smoothly finished edge....but not TOO smooth. It looks best when there is still some of the fibre of the leather showing, as it then retains its natural look. As long as it's not actually rough or "fluffy", it's good enough. But some people go way over the top, and it ends up looking cheap and tacky.

      @@glenbuyer8738 I agree with you Blayde, looks nice on the right project, but tacky as in too slick, when used on several layers of leather. Saludos, Anaco, Anz.
