  • The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) is a new law that requires most employers with 15 or more employees to provide “reasonable accommodations,” or changes at work, for a worker’s known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, unless the accommodation will cause the employer an undue hardship.
The PWFA builds upon existing protections against pregnancy discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and access to reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The EEOC began accepting charges of discrimination on June 27, 2023, the day on which the PWFA became effective.
If you think you’re being discriminated against because of your pregnancy or medical conditions related to pregnancy, the EEOC is here to help. For more information on pregnancy discrimination, please visit www.eeoc.gov/pregnancy-discri....
