This is FANTASTIC footage. The British used the incredibly deep underground Dover tunnel system to store all resources needed in Dover including fuel and oil in large underground stores while at the same time the German Luftwaffe did not want to risk going further inland which meant that RAF aircraft would attack them on multiple fronts so they simply focused on targets right along the coast so they could break off the attack quickly and limit the losses. The issue was that the British realized the tactic so they did not even bother stationing much defenses around Dover which really limited the targets the Luftwaffe had. The result? As in the video, you see the luftwaffe committing to multiple bombing runs to a simple pier or jetty and that is a hard target to hit so of course they missed. With free fall ammunition in WW2 accuracy was very limited, bombs can be pushed off by winds and that is a big problem with hitting small targets along the coast. Overall, the Luftwaffe did not want to comitt to targets further inland, the British avoided defending the area which limited the targets and so the result is pointless bombing runs. Pretty amazing.
