Fantastic , I live very near you. I know those roads very well. I started navigating at 13 years of age for Carmarthen motor club. Over the years I have navigated driven my own car and competed in kart racing . However my first love is rallying, especially night road rallies. I am now 65 and retired, so have bought myself a 2009 ex M-Sport reccie rally car, and have also started to navigate again. My first event after many years wash as a navigator in the Bath motor club night Targa rally 2 weeks ago. My driver was Mark Carrow, we had not et before, but had spoken on the phone loads. 57 entrants , we finished 22nd and second in class, despite sitting in kon stag,e for 15 minutes in the dark with a battery power lead that had got loose.
Well done. You have the makings of a good "left seat". Any night stuff coming up ? Tulip Road books maybe ? Avoid too many 'driver' comments - he /she knows if they've done it right.
Well done for having a go, the sport needs more training and people having a go at a job that's hard in the beginning, but very rewarding in the end, top Job mate...
Loved the video & looking forward to the next one. I'm fairly new to nav'ing having started doing 12 car ralliez last Jan & did the CRS multi venue targa & the 'one & only' Preston last year where I felt rather out of my depth but we finished & learnt a lot. Any plans for you to do some 12 car stuff?
Len Fletcher Thank you! Glad to hear you enjoyed it and I’m already pretty overwhelmed by the support. 👍🏻 I had a go at a 12 car a few weeks back and loved it. I imagine by February I will be well out of my depth when the season starts! 🤣🤣
Are you driving a Bentley?!?! I couldn't make out the crest between the rear passenger seats, but it looks like Bentley or Aston hahaa. BUZZING THAT YOU'RE BACK :D *Edit*... Aston... you're driving an Aston?
warcalf haha I was in an Aston Martin DB9 in the intro and then sat in the Landy for the map and paperwork section and then Hooning in the Subaru. Best to cover all bases! 😜😜 Plenty more videos coming soon, thanks for the support. 👍🏻
