    I’ve done it this way a hundred times. Some guys give me grief about damaging the thrust bearing surfaces... but I’ve not even had one issue this way. Glad to see I’m not the only one. Also, your attitude and and energy top notch.

    Wow ,i can remember using this method when i was in trade school ,back in the early 90s. There was two of us working on a car. I told my buddy with the hammer to hit it ,while i was holding the wood. When the hammer came down ,he wacked me right on the thumb !!!! I felt like the whole world stopped spinning for ten minutes.

    I went to John Deere and bought 3 metric bolts in 3 different lengths and was able to push the balancer on that way. John Deere has an amazing selection of metric fasteners if you are ever stuck for a bolt or nut!

    Some guys use air hammers with planishing hammer bits welded with an old balancer bolt washer to push the balancer back. I can't say I've never hammered one on before, but I have heard the danger is more about hurting the thrust bearing on th3 other side of the crank. I've never seen one damaged by this, but that's what they say. Otc makes nice installers and removers, and the gm tool is just a threaded rod with a nut, washer and a cup spacer, you can actually find knock offs on eBay for cheap. Great video though

I feel like my crank pulley not being installed far enough into the crank snout is the culprit.. do you know the proper distance between the back of a truck(lq9) pulley and the front timing chain cover? thanks for reading!

    The answer for tools or CDs or anything of that nature that somebody wants to borrow from you have them leave you a deposit large enough that you can replace what you're loaning them if they don't have it don't loan it to him if you do you're just asking for trouble.

    • @Coverman66

  • @smbaker84

    My god..it takes like..10min max to heat it up in over..and it'll slide all the way on no problem..or even just a torch if you don't want to stink up the house..good luck when you either mar up the crank putting on crooked or snap the crank bolt off in the crank..

    • @Coverman66
      @Coverman66  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      mar up? its a light tap.. its going to slide on one way or another.. how could it possibly go on crooked? finally the only time the impact gun was applied was to torque down to 220lbs.

    I installed a cam shaft on a 05 Silverado 5.3 I also removed the both heads to clean them and change my lifters as well, but I have a very important question about regarding my crankshaft, so after I finished installing the new cam with retainer plate tighten down and sprocket aligned with crank sprocket everything torqued down afterwards I went to crank the crank shaft with a ratchet and only allows me to turn it almost 90 degree to clockwise and counterclockwise then stops and I cant crank any further is this suppose to be normal since the transmission is still intact I'm really worried about this and would like your feedback thanks.
