Able to watch much of it online. In addition to Celebrini looking sharp, Cardwell and Cagnoni looked really good. I see Cardwell becoming one of those pesky 3rd/4th line guys who are just going to drive the other team crazy.
Yeah I’d love to see Cardwell get a look as the “motor guy” on a checking line after the deadline. Hopefully he can be effective on Cuda PK and be a shorthanded threat and that would help his stock as well. I feel like his game could lend itself to getting max value out of 12-15 minutes a night on the big club. That’s valuable.
Hard disagree on Cagnoni. Him and Musty were being targeted and he was getting taken down because of massive hits, not necessarily because of his height. When it came to one-on-one battles he was coming up with the puck a vast majority of the time. He's so much stronger than people give him credit for and I'm surprised that his defensive game was a surprise to you. He's very strong defensively, having seen a decent amount of him play. People can say he's short, but you can't say he's not big. He's built like a tank
I don’t think we are actually disagreeing on all that much here. There is a reason Cagnoni is the player I chose for the thumbnail on this video. However, when it comes to the getting taken down, I’m not sure if he was really being targeted as you say. Utah played a very physical game against all the Sharks players, but Cagnoni stood out to me as the one who ended up getting dropped the most. He did always bounce back, and I do correct myself in the video and say he was usually able to make a play before taking each hit. But, we know Grier loves big players, and I’m just wondering if seeing that perhaps created some doubt in his mind that Cagnoni can handle the significantly higher physical game that will exist at the AHL level this year.
@@professorhockey I recall hit getting taken down three times. First was just a big clean hit. 2nd was the one behind the net where he got blindsided (technically cleanly) and that would have sent any guy flying. 3rd was him being shaken up from a high stick. None were necessarily size specific. Curious if you think differently at all after that ANA game. He was very physical and put down two players (though one being a semi-crosscheck) and I don't recall being knocked off the puck once that game. I thought that was a statement defensive game for him (and Dickinson)
SJS-CHI about to become the new CHI-LAK. Will be absolutely incredible. On that note, do you think that a matured version of this prospect pool has a better shot at a Cup than the Sharks squads of the 2000s and 2010s?
It’s very early to say, I think having Askarov increases the chances of the answer being yes, but it fully depends on how the Sharks prospects develop, and how many can become impact guys.
Romanov played the whole game, I didn’t comment on him though because the stream quality made it very difficult to see how well he played and how the goals got scored against him.
Romanov played, wasn’t tested much since Utah didn’t get much zone time. Honestly, the stream quality made it so difficult to see whether the goals he let in were understandable
the first goal was pass off the pads, other one was defender got muscled off the puck and a rebound was put in. rebound control was iffy, might just be shaking off some cobwebs. the utah hc goalie on the other hand played out of his mind most of the game... 44 saves and some were very tricky
I couldn't draw any conclusions from this game because the camera angle was so bad. It was impossible to see what was happening or who was carrying the puck.
Am i the only one who was really underwhelmed by 80% of the rookies? Smith was invisible all game and forcing way too many dumb passes. Only rooks that looked good were Celebrini, Cardwell, and Graf imo.
I think that’s a pretty fair assessment if you also include Cagnoni in. Relative to a normal prospect, Musty and Smith were decent but definitely not what we may have been expecting for players of their caliber.
Thanks for the quick game turn around professor.
Niiiice! You painted your wall, it looks awesome!
Thanks!
Wait I didn't even notice! That's cool as heck!
Love the new background!
vibes between the boys look good. this is what we want, build that close chemistry

thanks for adding the numbers!
Woahhhhh we got a new look! Very spiffy!
Thanks for the update...

I agree. Professor hockey has some.weird takes sometimes, but his channel is appreciated.

Well it wouldn’t be fun if we all always agreed haha

I didnt actually get to watch tonight’s game, my brother got married today, but I’m glad to hear that Cagnoni was even better than Friday!
I’m amazed that you see so much off a tv stream.
It’s not easy I’ll tell you that much haha

Did I miss commentary on the Goaltender(s)?

cagnoni looked really good hopefully he keeps it up
Lookin fresh bro
👍🏽🍺 looking sharp professor
I wasn't able to watch the tournament, do you have any thoughts about how the goalies played?

@@professorhockey gotcha, makes sense. Thanks!
Is Igor Chernyshov at the camp? He signed in August
@@Crushbra He had surgery, out for a while.
@@davidsperber4435 thx

Considering they have these types of issues every year, you’d think they’d address them, especially this year considering the hype.
I personally thought the hache and cagnoni pairing was great, hache was noticeably hitting and getting shots off
Hache was probably the biggest surprise of the day
I thought Burke looked good too
💔💔
