I am so happy to see that yous are discussing mental health because so many people are going through it and feel alone and its important for people to see that in fact, no one is alone. You will always find others that understand where you come from . So, thank you for putting your truths out there! Yous are doing really really important work!
I grew up with people that was abused by their parents who then took it out on me, made me way meaner than them. I still react in very calculating and draconian fashion when I feel threatened. It trickles down alright.
I ain’t felt sad for another grown man in a very, very long time...glad “Mob” is gaining an understanding of his composition in his later years. These the kind of conversations us grown men need to have amongst each other.
Thank you for this. All that whooping made us violent and we've past it on...it has to stop. I suffer from anxiety from that shit. It will never not affect me.
Be close to god and be spiritual the key to be being well is your spirituality connect with god I have anxiety I’m trying to be more close with god with praying asking for strength
Brother James, you ain’t get the, “Why do you...” talk cause they didn’t understand, try to understand, and/or care. Your talking is always inspirational. Much Love Bro.
James is so real it's funny man, the way he talks and breaks it down so real is crazy. Because when he says certain things i find myself saying yeah i was thinking the same thing.
*Eastside Low Bottoms sh*t !* _Tappin' in from South Central Los Angeles_ Great convo ! Something we can all identify with to a certain degree, especially as Black males. We were always told that crying was for punks or you're a "sissy" for doing so. The transference of pain is real ! But I think it made later generations better parents, but made some a little TOO lenient. Especially for those that had kids young. A lot of these 20-somethings seem to have no discipline in their lives. But it's not TOTALLY their faults. Try having patience with them. ✊🏾✊🏾
I grew up in an Sicilian family...it was the same way. Me and pops reconciled later in life....but I had all those same thing's. I would have to go to my grandparents to get a break from all the drama between me and pop's.
My father taught me fear is like a spring you tighting the spring to you can’t tighting it until you can not condense it will bust use your fear because the day will come when you will not fear any more.
Good show. Not all a$$ whoppings caused people to be aggressive. Glad my parents weren't abusive, but trust and believe we got our a$$ tore up if needed. I hear the brothers saying how they felt at a certain age they weren't taking it anymore, like I said we weren't abused, but respect for our parents went a long way. I can't relate on raising my hand toward either of my parents, they would've killed us, but as I said we weren't abused, if we had, then it might have been different.
I can relate with you on this. I was whooped, disciplined, but not abused. When I think back on every whooping, I earned that, cleaning my mouth out with soap, or THE WORST having to hug my brother & kiss him on his cheek & apologize right after a full on fight & he had me in the camel clutch! I woulda rathered a whooping those times..
Steele is right I had to talk to somebody after going to combat! Its a whole different ball game! There's Black Psychiatrist out there that can help your ass out too! Great pod cast!
Too many people have bad experiences with one psychiatrist and then give up entirely on it. This stuff doesn't get fixed in one session, and any psychiatrist that attempts to is bad at their job.

@@GReid-ol5gk Maybe not praying right enough? Or not enough? Or without sincere hearts? @@Ducedaily Smh...the fact that you made such a comment is sad. We have bigger fish to fry than to stop to quibble about our doubts and fears. These brothers here, they're talking about what needs to be discussed. It's going to take a major operation to fix the conundrum that we've found ourselves in. Going into 'major surgery' to repair our broken families starts with conversation. We have a problem so we have to realize that we are a part of the problem ourselves before we can fix it.

Respectfully, James, this is ignorant my brother. Your experience as an 8 year old shouldn't dictate your opinion on the subject at 50+ years old. You're a completely different person now.
