      The ES503 does incorporate limiters on the inputs/outputs to protect the system, it will go into hard limiting if over driven

    Thanks so so much for the video. I have a question, I am thinking of buying ES503, for the celebration of my upcoming wedding. Am not a DJ, and it is so much expensive to get a DJ over here in Germany. Can we use the ES503 or ES602 for 75 persons in a restaurant? My second question is, can the ES602 or ES503 be connected with a Laptop and play with it? My last question is, which of the ES602 or Es503 will you recommend base on my situation?
    Thanks so much once more

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes , the ES503 in stereo mode would work well for PA and music or dancing... not quite DJ with one , but it will get the job done...you can connect the ES series with ¼" or XLR to 3.5mm mini plug and off you go... no need for a separate mixer ... low end will be acceptable , not quite full on DJ but will work..2 will be better.

    Great Vid thank you. (dB Tech marketing take note, nothing comparable on TH-cam to how helpful this video is especially on dB's own channel)
    Question : Could I pair an ES802 with an ES503, the 503 (Left) would send the 802 the Right hand signal, this is for 2 reasons,
    1) I can take advantage of the 503's Bluetooth and therefore have a stereo bluetooth signal in both subs, processed and split in the 503.
    2) reduces the cost, the 802 has slightly more power but I can just reduce the 802's output surely, it also costs less than the 503 ?
    We're a wedding band and so the Bluetooth is really handy as it would save the clients paying for a DJ.
    Thanks in advance

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The BT output on the ES503 is going to be mono only and you can not tell it Left or Right on the output, it is summed. So, yes you can, but will be mono only and not stereo. American DJ and Denon and Marantz make nice BT receivers that are not too costly that would be a better option. The BT on the ES503 is good reliably to about 20 feet. I would be uncomfortable going any further.

      We would have to bring one in, but it is not much different than the ES503, more power and only mono output... drivers are all the same in the boxes, just a bit more SPL output, but same sonic sound as the ES503

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, just daisy chain signal in / out with XLR cables .... you will not want to run them side by side as causes comb fiter issues, but separate into left/right config and run mono or 2 channel L/R

    So I have already 2 dB ES602's, I love them and get many compliments how great they sound, especially for such small units, I love how portable they are and easy to set up, they are limited though due to their size obviously, now for my Dj gigs I'm looking for another set to use for gigs up to 300 people in medium size indoor locations, because of my experience with the 602's I'm now looking at either 2 of the 802's or 2 of the 1002's, I'm not fussed about the extra features of the 503's or 1203's,
    Portability is a big thing for me, so I want to take 2 sets with me on the road that will do the job for a max 300 people, I don't want to take extra subs or 4 systems with me, I am leaning more towards the 1002's as I'm not sure if the jump up to the 802's from the 602's would be that much of an improvement, also the 802's don't come with protective bags included like the 1002's, once you add the cost of bags on top of the 802's there is very little price difference between the 2 set's, though the 802's look far more portable and less cumbersome that the 1002's.....................so what's your opinion on these options ?
    Cheers Mike ;-)

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think a pair of 1002's will work great. No frills, the 802s are nice but for 300 peeps or so you will need the 1002's or similar to get the low end coverage you may be looking for. The 802 for that size of crowd when loud will be pushed to the max. I have used a pair of 503's for 200 peeps and a band, but had to augment with a dedicated SUB15H to get the low end we needed.

      which set do you think would best suit my needs just based on all round performance ?

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends. The 615 is a true subwoofer, the 1002's LF section is quasi subwoofer/LF driver. 160 Hz is the crossover freq. so it is doing low end all the way up to 160hz . The 615 is a true sub and has a crossover for the tops so you can let the subs do what they need to do....keep in mind it is a 15" sub and 15's are limited to how low and how much output they can produce. for 300 peeps 2 x 615 and 2 x opera 12 can give you more setup options than the ES1002, as you SHOULD NOT RUN THE LF by itself without a top set of speakers plugged into it. that said, the 1002 is more sleek looking and has amazing output for its size.

Also, I would connect the 2 x ES802 into a Mackie Mixing desk for LIVE gigs. Would this work fine sound wise? Sorry for so many questions but it seems that you really know your stuff and I would trust you entirely. Thank you in advance for your help and advice!! Leo

That system is run from a X32 mixer. the Mackie board will work fine. The ES802 has more power than the ES503 so yes, should do well for up to about 250 peeps.

    Great video! Thank you very much! - I rack my brain about a decision. Maybe you can help me. Which solution would you recommend? Two ES 602 or one ES 503 in stereo mode? We are a duo using electronic drums, stage piano, vocals via TC Voicelive and a synth for bass. We don´t need Bluetooth. I like the fact that two ES602 don´t need additional stands. But the low frequency response seems not as good as the ES 503. We play for about 150 guests. Many greetings from the countryside of France.

      @trinityprosound  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ES602 has been end of lifed, as the sell qty did not meet up is what I figure...A set of the ES503 running each in mono is going to be your best option. Those will do 150 no issues and would say you could do up to 250 with a pair. The output from a single ES503 in stereo or 2 ch mode, i think you would be lacking trying to cover 150 with acceptable levels. Thank you for watching the videos.. ! Glad to help anytime...

    Currently running a pair of Evox 5 for a jazz duo (vocal + piano/organ) playing soft music in medium sized venues for up to 350 seated guests or so. However in a few venues where the room is deeper-shaped I find that the Evox 5 doesn't throw far enough, with sound at the back more indistinct and reverb-y. Will the ES503 or ES802
    1) give me more SPL to reach 400-450 guests and
    2) throw further to reach the guests at the rear?
    Am also considering between evolve 50 and ES802, with the ES802 being more affordable. At this point I'm trying to avoid adding more speakers to the setup.

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Iansoh - the ES802 will come closed for doing what you are asking. more power going to the tops and both tops of an ES 802 will give you more vertical coverage than a EVOX 5. The best to get at the rear is extend the tops as high as possible on the LF floor units. Don't waste your $$$ on the Evolve 50, it does ok close in, but away from the unit it drops off quicker than a comparable ES802 system. A pair of ES802 will do 300 at decent levels no issues with a full on band...but for what you are doing, they should provide good coverage and sound.

    Can you do another video with comparing this unit with the RCF Evox 8? I am interested in both units for my dj setup, but I just don’t know which one to go with and there are no reps or dealers for dB Technologies around me (Seattle, WA)... in your opinion: What unit has better bass response and overall ‘fullness’ of sound? Thanks for the awesome videos and love when you do demos of the speakers.

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The EVOX8 and ES802 are very similar in sound and output. The main difference is the construction of the cabinets. dB is plastic tops and wood bottom, RCF is wood and wood. The RCF packs up nicer IMO, but the ES802 has additional features the EVOX does not. We have cycled the EVOX8, ES503 as in this video and the FBT CS1000 through a local small church for evaluations and all 3 systems have performed very well for live and playback. Keep in mind that the low frequency driver is not SUBWOOFER , it is a LF driver with some extended low end. We have sold all 3 to DJ and they do a great job up to a certain point where they run out of output for larger events. Nice thing is , you can always add a dedicated subwoofer to the system to get the dedicated low end for dance, etc in larger events. Either of them will be good for up to / around 200-250 peeps and produce good sound and decent low end, but all of them IMO lack what a dedicated subwoofer can do for you/event/venue. They do offer a very full sound, but asking a 12" driver to do decent low end duty at higher volumes will push any of these systems to limiting, not quickly but you will see the limit light on the rear come on when too much is being required of the low end. High end from the tops, no issues. Hope that helps...message back with any questions.

    Hello Trinity Man! I'm playing in a jazz trio always acoustic, only bass amp and piano amp, sometimes sax acoustic the drums as well, lately we play in small 50 to 80 people gigs, in close enviroments and open spaces, my question is THIS: in the open spaces we find hard to reach acoustically the audience sit at the bottom end so "only with one" ES503 you think is possible to expand our sound? I'm talking about all instruments playing soft and drums very nuanced with only one mic at bassdrum and an over, we can't afford two units of any options (we play jazz) and this unit its in a near store in good price should I get it?? Also love the stereo feature to listen music at home, would you believe this stereo sound will work live?? or should I wait to save for a RCF evox jmix8 made of plastic for about 2 years jejeje Thank you in advance, nice work revealing the secrets of the highsound enclousures.

      A single ES503 will get you by..2 would be better. but i have used the ES503 for lower level background music and it will provide a good full sound for 50-80 with no issues. The optional stands and separating the speakers will give a better fill in stereo mode IMO. The JMIX or others in this class sound very similar for EQ and output/tonality.

    You mentioned that the 802 is a more powerful set and better suited for a larger number of peeps. However, if you had to chose between 2 x 802 and 2 x 503 for a mobile dj setup would you rather have the more power of the 802s or the dsp of the 503s? I'm asking for parties like weddings and such of no more than 150 peeps. Also, a good friend of mine is a sound engineer, that's why I asked about the dsp since he can set it up for me.

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 503 and 802 have the same amp and DSP, just a bit more power, since the 802 is not a stereo or dual channel system. I would certainly go with 2 of the 802 for the added power vs. a split of the ES503's.

    • @AlexMihalceaHalcea
      @AlexMihalceaHalcea 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was asking because on the db technologies website, the 802 seems to not have the oled display for the dsp as seen here www.dbtechnologies.com/en/products/es/es-802-p2670.aspx

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct, they do the DSP a bit different with the rotary encoder. They did take away the integrated mixer like in the 503, but does not degrade sound or output at all. Just not as many inputs, thus the removal of the DSP. The new www.dbtechnologies.com/en/products/es/es1203-p3817.aspx ES 1203 with dual 12" bass LF drivers does have the OLED DSP built in.

      Phil....they are about the same in output and response, the EVOX has the ability to store the top box in the back , where the ES503 does not. Evox has a nice cover option, ES503 is OK, but output wise, don't think you will notice a difference. The ES503 is a dual channel unit and also look at the ES802 single channel unit. My only gripe is the coupling technique used for connecting the two ES top boxes together ... if they get dropped the coupling legs will break..learned that a few days ago....

I have the opportunity to buy from a friend 1 more couple of ES602... do you think 4 x ES602 can work good to amplify a rock band (4 musicians) in external areas? ...or better to go for 2 x ES802?

      @trinityprosound  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      4 of the 602 will do well for around 300 persons, but you will have a bit better low end with the ES802's 12" driver for LF. I would set the 602's side by side so low end couples then aim 2 of the tops straight out and angle the other 2 at a 45 degree angle, maybe a bit more...

    hello, your videos are great! i need a advice, here in Argentina i can buy ES602 or ES802. im mobile DJ i play reggeaton and latin music, i own DB tech 18d and 15d subs, paired with opera 15 and qsc k10, but im looking for a setup for small weddings or birthday partys, less 70/80 guests. maybe i can use my QSC k10 tops too if event is bigger. question is... 1 unit ES802 (around 1500u$s) or two ES602 ( U$S2000 both).- Thanks!!!

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would go for the (2) of the ES602, your sound will be more uniformed with 2 units instead of 1 trying to cover .... and your guests will like it better too. It is always difficult to get good coverage with one unit IMO unless for small coffee shops, etc. with acoustic performers, etc. 2 of the 10" woofers will do a nice job in the ES602

    Hi trinityprosound,
    I like your video and I got a lot of information. Thank you very good! I want to buy two of the 503. There is one question I have and I hope you can help me. I can use two 503 as a master slave system or I use it as two mono systems (one left, one right). What is the difference? I can‘t find anything for the second possibility in the manual or is this not possible? Thanks in advance, Thomas

      @trinityprosound  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can set the 503 up in mono out mode for the speakers, there is a socket on the back to do that and sends power to both top boxes, the 503 is a great system and have used a pair of them for live band for 200 peeps with on per side. Run them mono and send you Left /Right to them , if you need more low end, we have used a SUB15H with them with good results.

      yes you will have better low end response for the es802's , the Promax is great speaker, but you would need a sub to go with them to produce the low end a pair of the es802's can do.

      thanks for quick answer! but promaxx12a has 900 watt each, es802 has 500.. do you think 802 can do the same gain or less? I play often with about 100 guest in front of me (insine and outside dancefloor). thanks so much!!

      @trinityprosound  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 802 has 600W RMS power, but they have nearly same SPL level output , so yes , i think it would work very well and better than 2 Promaxx on stands...

  • @rdaudioeventsandservices3039
    @rdaudioeventsandservices3039 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I beg to disagree that this is in between RCF Evox 8 and 12 in terms of output. Evox 8 has a 128 db max and 1,400 watts amp while this unit is only 121 db max and 1,000 watts peak amp.

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1400 peak as well, 700 watts RMS severely limited to HF box on top and split between drivers. Read the specs on RCF and DB, only 200 watts difference in the amps, as they use very similar technologies on their amps. SPL is relative, we don't know what frequency the max was taken at for either of the systems. One could be at 20K and the other at 1000Hz who knows? Listening to both system puts them neck and neck on output and clarity. Do a side by side, you wont be able to tell the difference in output.

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ES1203 is the winner for the loudest and price point. Next in line is the ES802 for mono or single channel applications where you are running a left / right system. Then the ES503 which is a 3 channel unit. They all do very well , but the LF driver is trying to do both sub and LF driver output so there is a bit of a compromise on the low end. You can always add a subwoofer for more low end output. A pair of ES802 can do a really great job for 300 peeps. The ES602 is discontinued now.

      +njflipsqd we are not huge fans of Turbosound....as they have copied RCF and FBT, along with the ES systems from db Tech. Looking at the specs, it is going to be limited in output as it might be 500w max RMS but it does not state what type of amp and power it is....but thanks for watching our other videos !

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on budget and needs, but the ES503 or ES802's will work great, and the price point they are at compared to others will get you into two for what possibly one of the others costs....The ES802's , a pair will do amazing things and sounds great and has sufficient low end to be heard very well.

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The CS1000 is easier to pack and go vs. ES802. One notable thing is the CS1000 you can stack two per side and they have settings to do so for your larger events if you ever need to go bigger...construction of the CS1000 is better IMO. Hope that helps in your decision.

      The LF driver goes from effectively from around 70hz to 206hz, it is a LF driver and not a subwoofer, even though it does go low, a dedicated sub would be recommended if you need more SUB LF output.

    Hello,
    Thank you for this video.
    It is complicated to make a choice !!!
    My goal is to animate evenings (50/100 people Max) and other indoor / outdoor events .....
    I need the Blutooth.
    Between SYA 15 and ES503..Or other things ?
    Is there a big difference?
    In terms of quality of materials, sound power and punch in the bass?
    Because in terms of price, necessarily the SYA is 2X cheaper than the ES503 ....
    So 2XSYA 15 or 1X503 or 1/2XES802 (Not Blutooth ?) or 2XES602 (Not Blutooth ?) other choices ?
    thank you for the answer

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will get a bit more low end from the ES503, but you will need a pair of them, also look at the ES802's they are a mono box, vs. "stereo" box of the ES503. Overall we have used ES503 for 200 peeps and works well and that was a live band. If you find you need more low end , add a dedicated subwoofer to the system. With the SYA you are going to need subs for low end duty. The ES boxes are low frequency drivers and a quasi sub configuration, but not a true subwoofer per se. We still have a pair of the ES503 we use and still going strong. If you do need blue tooth, get a good blue tooth receiver. Alto PRO makes some that plug in to speakers with XLR connections and can be paired to Stereo signal.

      We have used these in events with 200 people and have run a full band through them, and the output could have really going much higher... not sure where you are getting your info, have you ever used a pair of them? and if so what was the application and were you really needing a bigger system? we find many people that purchase these types of systems dont understand the limits of a 12" driver LF box that is trying to cover low end and kind of sub woofer duty. these are not subwoofers at all, and that is where the confusion lies with many buyers.
