When I was on TV, I had a meeting with Rare and spoke about Dinosaur Planet, (this was around 2010) they said they had found a prototype cart with the game on, but the code was corrupt and were looking for a way to retrieve it.
I wonder how developed it was compared to this version? Would be nice to play something deeper in the Dinosaur Planet period, opposed to when it was integrated into the Star Fox IP here.
No…way! You mean…an experimental Build from 99 exists?! this could be the very thing the community needs to restore the current Rom!, corrupt code be damned if the community has enough passion i’m sure that cart can be fixed and all the missing actor and trigger files at the very least could be salvaged to make the 12/2000 Version stable.
Either late 99 or early to mid 2000 would be sufficient for data-mining, a mid summer build would be most useful as it would be in early transitional phase and not much would be broken or missing, but far enough to where maybe the Krazoa palace time travel segment exists
Yep, Chris Seavor being one of them. He not only created Conker's Bad Fur Day, but voiced a majority of the characters in the game, as well as Gruntila in Banjo, Chief Lightfoot and Rocky in Dinosaur Planet, Peppy and Slippy in StarFox Adventures (as well as Chief Lightfoot) Spinal in Killer Instinct, Mad Jack in Donkey Kong 64, and Dr. Carrol in Perfect Dark.
3:10 That's not a problem for Rare since the developers themselves voiced the characters. It's probably the reason many voice lines were recorded in an early build.
I really think that this game had so much potential to become a classic that would masterfully close the life cycle of the Nintendo 64 by pushing the console to its limits and that would be fondly remembered like other RARE classics like Banjoo and Kazooie, Conker Bad Fur Day and Perfect Dark. It's really a shame that they decided to turn it into a "Star Fox Game", the Star Fox elements in the game always felt rushed and poorly fitted into the game's environment and I really hated some decisions like cutting basically the entire campaign of Krystal and imprison her in a crystal to fully focus on Fox Mcloud. It's funny that I had a lot more fun playing the Beta of this game for the Nintendo 64 than Star Fox Adventures on the GameCube, I hope that someday Dinosaur Planet can suffer the same fate as Star Fox 2 and that we can play this game with its vision original.
Rare's permission? They'd have to go through Microsoft. M$ would probably be fine with it, but it's Nintendo who's too stubborn to do anything in coop.
I remember when I was about...10..Starfox adventures was one of my faaaaavorites. I grew older and the internet became more of a thing.. found out that that could have been this wonderful, on par with Zelda of a classic game. Pisses me off they did rare like that. And now they're with shitty ass xbox.
I'm really interested in a physical cart for this, but it seems like it may be difficult to find a "complete" version with the most available content. Does anyone know a place that has the most definitive version on the cartridge? And if so, how far does it go before cutting off?
The game is still in a fractured state. Your best bet would be to get an Everdrive and load the latest fixed version. There are repro carts floating around eBay and Aliexpress but they contain the original leaked build with some small fixes but we don’t have the entire game fixed yet.

It would cool to see how a seemingly-half-complete version on the N64 played compared to Star Fox Adventures on the Gamecube
Actyally there is an enhanced version from prototype in CDRomance.
now we wait for 12 tales. We NEED IT. Im just glad we got Dinosaur Planet at least
Been waiting soooo long for twelve tales to be leaked
The reason it likely had voice acting so early on was because Rare back then would often use it's own staff members for voice work.

When I played the rom when the Twitter post occurred, I only got as far as the Mommoth section before it crashed.

If they kept on making the game instead of redoing it for Star Fox Adventures we could have this game.
2:58 Thankfully there are mods to remove this mistake.
4:27 for some reason this scene is so much funnier on the gamecube lol
SFA = Josstice League
DP = Snyder Cut
They need to hd remake it for switch w rares permission.

It would be insane to see this game get the same treatment as Star Fox 2, but I think that's unlikely to happen.

@@maggiesducks Damn that's really disappointing. I was hoping wed have a complete physical cart by now. I won't why no one has made it yet.
@@FreakinSweet1987 we’re working on it but it’s a big job, it’ll take a while
I would like to know what build was being used in the One Hour Video of Dinosaur Planet that Rare Theif posted on his youtube page many years ago.
wow!! neat video
Cool video.
Not unobtainable. It’s available for online download.
@@G_Silent remove yourself from the internet
I wish they’d have followed up StarFox adventures. I loved the game and would love a second.
