Connect shield only on male plug this is quite important. Part list would be useful. What kind of cable do you recommend? What length of cable do you use? Why don't you use a ready made shielded cable at first place? Do you recommend this cable for amplifiers or dijital sources? Why do you pick those connectors? There are lots of questions about this topic.
I read that you should only join shield and ground wire on the male end. Why did you do that on both ends? Also, I wonder if in the standard power cables that come with audio devices (amplifiers, etc) have the shield and ground wire joined on both ends?
What is a wire, connected at one side? ... Yes... An antenna. Shields don't work when connected to one side. We wrote an article about it. Check www.alpha-audio.net.
Is that schilderstape?
Well this may the start of a much bigger controversy. I have read in several sites that the earth and shield should only be connected on the side supplying the power. I essence the shield is meant to act as a Faraday cage, capturing/absorbing any electo/magnetic radiation and draining it to earth. The explanation, which I have read from different sources, goes on to say that this can only happen if there is no electrical current passing through the shield due to any variation in potential at either end of the earth points. Hence one end of the shield is left floating so that the shield can only be one potential value, which ideally would be the same vale as the earth or zero volt. Anyway that is my layman's understanding. I will be happy to yield to anyone who is trained in this area. While I understand that technically the shield may be an antenna. This antenna is shorted to earth and the purpose of the shield is to capture any signal, (act like an antenna). Interesting to see if others will add to this. Controversy aside, thanks for the workshop video. Always enjoy watching your clips and reviews best wishes and stay safe Joe

In the world of the Hifi, the cable needs to be beautiful? That’s new! 🤣 And, now, since when a "cable sounds good"?🤣🤣 If what you say was true, why limit yourself to the cable between the power outlet of your amplifier? Why not put the same protection between the power outlet and the electrical counter of your house, then between the counter and the power supplier’s transformer, and then between that transformer and the power plant. Why? Do you think that one-metre-long protection will filter all the interference between the power plant and your amplifier, if any? Well no, it can’t filter out parasites that are already on the cable. That’s why I’m wondering what your motivation is to make fun of people by advocating something that doesn’t work.

Dear Arda Dalay,
We are investigating shielding pretty thourough at the moment. We will publish an article about it soon.

Leuk. Daar doen we het voor!
Maybe you could replace the tape for an heat shrink. It looks nicer 😊👍🏻.
True!
Exactly how I make my cables. ( shielding connected to male plug side only)

AFAIK you should only connect the screen on the input side of the cable...
Nope....you will create an antenna.
That’s what i also read in differrent forums…
De complete bekabeling in je woning is één grote antenne!

Where can i order the VMVK cable from ? I think you forgot to put it in your pinned list of items.
Great video, cheers.
