There is a pun in the song title. "Otona Blue" means "Adult Blues", but Suzuka says "otonaburu" which means "like an adult". They lyrics are about teenage awakening, noticing the male gaze and wanting to experience their fantasy of adult love even though they know they are still too young. It's a tricky subject, but as AG! wrote the lyrics as teenage performers it's obviously an important and relevant subject for them as they've spent their entire professional lives being looked at. The song is influenced by the 1970s city pop song "Furui Nikki" by Akiko Wada.
A note on the lyrics: the song is basically about a young lady trying seeking mature experiences they're not yet ready for. A desire to be an adult before you are one. The keys line are "Younger than it looks, my heart runs ahead. I’ve yet to bloom, but I still pretend to"
yup. people start to stop relate everything with "ped*philia". in the MV, there is scene of suzuka eating cherry then popping it. "popping cherry" means "losing v*rginity", but because the "i" in the song is still very naive and doesn't know the actual meaning, she thinks that being adult is by literally "popping cherry". 😂
If you want more Atarashii Gakko, here's a list: - Pineapple Kryptonite - Tokyo Calling - Koi Geba - Hanako - Omakase - Suki Lie - and a recent colab with Sheena Ringo, FRDP - I also like Night Before the Exam, because it has really difficult lyrics (it is a list of memorized words) to be performed live; and the music video is completly done in a single, continuous, take, no cuts
One of my favorites, only discovered them because of the collaboration with MTH! I’m checking out all the live videos of their USA tour, love their energy, dances, and electronic music. These girls are fit, talk about cardio, they dance and sing for over an hour! Love their quirky antics on stage ❤️
If that was chaos, it was exquisitely planned and rehearsed chaos. Everything fit perfectly and it all just clicked. A fun, cute song, but it was the vehicle for their choreography and charisma to shine through. No wonder its one of the top First Take videos.
Suzuka is kinda the one with the most bombastic presence and lead sings the most often, but the group themselves maintain there's no leader among them, and the albums have songs being headlined by each member. Rin has the lead verses in Fly High, which had an MV this year. For some non-MV stuff. zzz is a Kanon/Rin duet amayo no seppun is my favorite Mizyu lead song. Essa Hoisa has a good mix of everyone.
Just a quick very stripped back rundown because you've just open the flood gates to AG requests, Atarashii Gakko No Leaders is their full name, which basically translates to Leaders of the New School/New School Leaders, they are a very against the grain of society group, who want to prove it's ok to stand out, which is why they are leaders. Their English name also kinda works to describe the group because while Suzuka (Tallest, short hair, round glasses) seems like she's the lead of the group, she isn't because they have "No Leaders". Each of them have their own style, Suzuka is a very strong vocalist who does most of the "powerful" parts of the singing and generally sings the most, she is also probably the craziest of the group and has taken up the hobby of crowd surfing in her free time, Mizyu (shortest, Twin tails, Oldest of the group) don't let the fact that she is the oldest fool you, she is just as unhinged as Suzuka, but that side of her only comes out at the height of shows when she's most feeling the energy of the audience, she sings in a much more airy way and has a very delicate voice, which leads me onto, Kanon (Long straight hair, youngest of the group) sings in a similar way and generally harmonises with Mizyu, she is generally seen as the "elegant" or "graceful" one of the group, but at the same time loves to head bang, and last but certainly not least is, Rin (I would use her hair as a descriptor but she changes it a lot) due to a childhood filled with hip hop Rin is the groups rapper, which is not to say she can't sing because she can, they all can, Rin is also probably the most uniquely skilled dancer of the group as she can pop and lock she can do the robot the list is endless for Rin. All four members were originally dancers that were brought together to become a group, they do all their own choreo and have even done the choreo for other groups. They're possibly some of the most active japanese artists in terms of social media(they even have their own AG social media), they've uploaded tonnes of dance practice videos amongst other things, and are just overall a really great group. I'm by no means an expert but I will try to answer any questions you may have. Edit: I noticed I wrote all that and never gave a reaction suggestion, While it's easy to just say "all of their songs" because they genuinely are that consistent I'll stick to either Koinosyadanki or Saisyu Jinrui. Edit two: Also forgot to say, They do lots of very different sounding music, and are a very performative group every song has a well choreographed and planned out performance that goes with it, they're made for live shows and are phenomenal live. And they all have their own songs that they lead, some honorable mentions Tomei Boy(Rin), Tomei Girl(Mizyu), Kanon off the top of my head doesn't have a song that she leads but ZZZ which is her and Rin is very good.

AG is so fun, I'm glad you noticed the whistle note at the beginning! It always makes me smile ❤😂
👍👍An awesome performance. These ladies are not afraid to ruffle a few feathers. 🖖❤
Holy crap. This is crazy. I love you, man.

I honestly prefer their older stuff, which was MUCH more jazz-influenced. Nice reaction!
The best
The rapper in the collaboration with MTH was Rin. Rin loves hip hop.

WAIT!!! Is this a re-up? I have the clear memory of you already racting to this video 🤔. Or is my memory that bad? 😅
Autotuned all to Hell, but still entertaining.
