    Frank Bridge is a criminally underrated composer. His use of obscure tonality and a diverse range of beautiful moods and colors is utterly gorgeous. Like Debussy, he manages to give distinct, trademark characters to generic, traditional classical instrumentation (piano, strings) with his flawless use of color and powerful emotion.
    Also, bring back that awesome facial hair.

    Frank Bridge - brilliant and very much under rated composer.

    Fabulous lecture. Bridge’s string sextet (especially the Andante movement) and Spring Song are two of my favorites. He is under appreciated.

    Can you do a video on Ciprian Porumbescu of Romania please? I love his pieces and there needs to be more awareness of Romania’s geniuses. I deeply appreciate the videos on George Enescu and Radulescu and really admire all your videos in general. Great job!

    Thank you for mentioning Britten. I play his The Sea when it's raining. And Elgar (not just P&C but Enigma, Violin Concerto and the miniature pieces. Leroy Anderson as well. Is that too much of a request?

    An interesting insight into a composer I'm not familiar with at all. And I'm noticing a few books on your shelf in the background that I have on mine as well.

    Hi. I've got a question because I'm writing a paper about Frank Bridge and one of his pieces - Allegro Appasionato. So could you tell me if this piece is a impressionist miniature or expressionist miniature?

    • @ClassicalNerd
      @ClassicalNerd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not entirely sure that this is the kind of either/or that the names like to imply. Impressionism is generally a French thing and expressionism a German one-composers outside those traditions can evoke one thing or another about it but it's much harder to say for certain whether it _is_ a part of one of those traditions.
      Either one you choose (and why not both?), you'll probably want to compare it with a piece solidly _from_ the style(s) you claim in order to make the case for it. Best of luck!

    I'm surprised you haven't made a video about Bridge's most famous pupil, Benjamin Britten.

      The order of my biographies is controlled by the requests I get. Only one request for Britten has been submitted so far.

      @@marcpolyphonyobrecht7396 Duly noted! Britten is now up to five requests (with you being the fifth). I don't doubt my research abilities-I just use requests as a way to measure what discussions people want to see.
