As I am tearing up during my first week as a mom of two, it really encourages me to hear from someone who has made it through.

Wow...i really remember being RIGHT THERE...There were days I called my husband crying and saying that i cant do this, im not enough for them....but God brought me through that and He made me enough for them. On those days I want you to look in the mirror and know that God picked you to be their mom, and he will equip you. It won't look perfect, it will be messy, but if they are clothed and fed and well cared for...YOU ARE A GOOD MOM.

Thank you. I truly believe that God only gives us what he knows we can handle. While things may be chaotic at times, these two young lives were chosen for me to nurture by him.

One great way to stay engaged with your toddler/other child while caring for your baby is to *NARRATE* , *NARRATE* , *NARRATE!*
"I'm picking up the blue blanket to put on (baby's name). Now I will wrap the blanket around her two legs and two arms: (while doing it) One leg, two legs. One arm, two arms."
**Invite the child to see/help/participate when it is appropriate to do so just like everyone says- just remember to *NARRATE* whatever's happening as often as you can.**
**TIP** Make some mundane things a little event by announcing them with a *jingle*. You can sing or recite a simple rhyme like:
    *(Tune of "Twinkle Twinkle")*
"Ella it's time to change diaper now. Zachary watch I'll show you how."
Choose a tune/phrasing that you can use instinctively. Switch up the lyrics to fit whatever you want to *"Jinglize"*.
    *WHY NARRATE?*
*1) It's good for your toddler:*
He/She can feel included in your time with Baby and even begin to exercise empathy and care for Baby. Hearing you talk about Baby's needs and being included in helping Baby stay healthy and happy helps your toddler be invested in the well-being of his/her baby brother or sister.
    *2) It's good for Baby:*
Baby is hearing you talk about his or her face, body, toys, food, big brother, etc. You're helping Baby discover the world, learn about communication, and feel engaged and connected to everyone and everything in their little world.
    *3) It's good for YOU:*
Speaking at a low, steady tone can be an important way to temper stress and reduce the likelihood of feeling flustered and overwhelmed in certain situations. If you need to take 3 slow breaths, *Narrate that* and tell Baby and Toddler why. "There's a lot happening right now. Mommy's going to stop for just a minute to breathe in (inhale)..... and breathe out (exhale)." Now your own voice has preempted a panic response in your body and you have reminded yourself that you are in control of the situation and you can not only handle life but you can rock it!
There is no magic cure-all and trying times will come, but you are strong enough to find your *Groove*.

Wow, I didn’t know this but I am doing it all the time 😁 And my older one is really helping, she love to help me with whatever I do.
For example, I say: oh, the little one diaper’s need to or changed! And she go fast and bring me a new diaper😅
Or, I say: oh, the floor is wet, I need to fix this! And she goes and bring a napkin or something for drying the floor.

This is great advice. Works for us too but even if you don't rhyme or sound crazy your kids don't care. They like when you sing their names too. And when you look at one, look at the other. When im singing to My baby and my toddler is in her room playing for a min ill call for her to sing too and it's gotten her to be more vocal, she doesn't speak clearly yet it's babble but babble is just part of development too.

YES!! That is exactly how I am feeling right now. I've been losing my patience lately and can feel the Lord tugging at me to seek Him more and not satisfaction from this world. When you said, "I don't have to post this right now or answer that text right now." That's how I've been feeling. Instead of reaching for a book, the Bible, I scrolled on Instagram and felt even more unhappy and angry because I would think how I wish I had it that easy. Seeing a mom of 7 with full hair and makeup done, her kids in cute outfits I would feel like a failure and thats so not true. SO I am taking this time to actually do things I love and spend more time actually enjoying my life not trying to replicate anyone else's. I can honestly say you are my favorite mom youtuber because you have kept it real and speak nothing but truth so after I watch one of your videos I come away wanting to be better but in a good way, does that make sense? Sorry I'm rambling lol

    • @Jolly.Joy_Rose
      @Jolly.Joy_Rose 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Also I knew it was a problem when my youngest would say she had to go potty and I would be bothered that I had to stop scrolling or yell at my older girls because I barely sat down...smh...THANK YOU GOD FOR YOUR GRACE

I loved this video! It was a great reminder to just be present with my little girls. I’m often so caught up trying to get all the things done and later realize the whole day went by and I didn’t really have any quality time with them. Also, as I was watching your video, I set an alarm to wake up before they do, so I can do my bible reading, so thank you for that!

Expecting my 2nd 14 months apart, and 100% noticing a little regression right before the crossover to two- what you said about treating your 1st like a baby, doing the things baby is doing- I will definitely take that with me. Of course developmentally they have regressions without siblings but I will almost actively be regressing my son to help him feel like he's still my baby and included- bc even compared to some 2 under 2 age differences even a bit larger, it's true. I'm not rushing around to grow up my 1st any faster, it's just unrealistic to expect him to be anywhere else but where he's at developmentally! I say that because some people have already called him a "Toddler" since I'm expecting a 2nd and i'm like, no he is very much still a baby!

I loved this video & needed it badly. It made me feel so much better on how things have been going. I had my second daughter in July and have one turning 2 this month. My husband was luckily home with me for the first 6 weeks but since he’s been back to work we’ve been trying to get our house on the market so he’s spent every available moment working on it which means I’m single parenting. I felt amazing emotionally those first few weeks but lately I’ve felt myself on the verge of PPD. I feel like I just can’t juggle it all. This made me feel great about remembering it’s just a season and to not sweat the small stuff

When both babies are crying and crying and crying, at least for us the quickest way to quiet them both down was to just go outside. Park a bouncer on the driveway and let the toddler pick up leaves and sticks and it tires them out to take a good long nap after. Doesnt have to be a long outdoor trip or anything fancy, 15 mins of fresh air works great.
