Reef Fishing For Whatever Bites! | MY FIRST KAGAMI! 🐟| Hawaii Fishing Adventures!

- What's up Birrrdies! In today's adventure, the family and I decided to take a trip down to the eastern side of the island also known as Kaneohe. At this particular spot, you must cast over about 30 yards of the reef before reaching a deep blue channel. Instead of using frozen shrimp or squid, I throw out some Aku belly chunks! This was deemed to be a good choice as I would soon hook up into a rare bucket-list fish, the Kagami. Though it was small, I was still grateful to have witnessed such a species in my own hands. Toward the middle of the day, I also hook up into a baby bluefin Trevally, also known as a Papio here in Hawaii. Not too long after this, my Grandpa's rod unknowingly goes off as we are not paying attention and it cuts the line. My Grandpa and I really need to start using heavier tackle as we are always losing sizable fish, especially at spots like this as you never know what is swimming down there. @@kaibirrrd3051 yeah I was wondering why had two guys out there so close together with the poles 🤔-now I know 🤣-I’ll be putting a YT vid out sometime soon of that day cuz I got some other good fishcam footage and one of the guys that work with Hungry Fisherman who I was fishing with, caught something at the end of the day. How you get access to Marine Base Cabanas, get sticker, or fishing pass? Hanabata daze used to camp out all weekend at either Halekoa Beach, or Fort Hase Beach with my uncle a retired Gunny. Good old daze mid 1970s. Fishing pass nowadays restricts you to Fuel Pier and Fort Hase. Fort Hase used to be awesome Moi grounds. Haven't fished there in over 10 years. Mahalo fo da vids. 😎🤙

How heavy pound test are ya using?
15 LB. Test mono 🤙🏽. Thinking about switching to braid though..
@@kaibirrrd3051 only thing w braid you have to splice like at least 30-40lb mono to braid. That way you have rub line from swivel, mono, to splice braid that comes to reel. I notice the swivel if your dunking to close to the reef and tends to shred or cut. Mono has better abrasion resistance than direct braid to swivel

Shucksss! Get plenty oios over there, this same day during high tide I seen about 20 of them swim right past my feet.. it’s like they were teasing me 😂. Either way it’s such a beautiful spot! Tight lines braddah , hope u catch that Oio one day 🤙🏽🎣
