435D Uprated CSF Intercooler Dyno Testing 335d Evolve Tune

- We have tested CSF's N55 intercooler before on an F87 M2 with impressive results, but CSF recently informed us that it will also fit the diesel models! We were keen to see if the intercooler would have such a prominent effect on the diesel platform.
A customer came to us with an F32 435D to have a remap and the intercooler fitted. We first applied our ECU tune to get a baseline figure, then fitted the CSF Intercooler to see how much difference it would make to a tuned car.
Unfortunately the car was fitted with winter tyres so the headline figures aren't what we would expect, but as the test was done on the same tyres the gains are valid.

Have a thumbs up from me for doing a D , all the 35d cars are monsters i drive them a fair bit at work and in conjunction with x drive im always surprised the way even stock 35d,s get down the road , there so dam capable and bloody cheap on fuel as well , good job man

Good honest review here. I've owned a remapped 335xd for over a year now and considered putting a big intercooler on for a while. I decided on the CSF 8115b in this video and all I can say is I agree with this review. The car pulls harder and it appears to be more noticeable at higher rpm.
CSF Intercooler is a huge upgrade on all the cars it fits! BMW left a lot on the table for us here.

@@thibautd.8641 If you've got 6 or 7 hundred burning a hole in your pocket then go right ahead, if not then don't bother. The best value hp is through a remap.

@@thibautd.8641 I didn't notice any more lag. It did seem to have more pull at higher rpm but this wasn't dyno verified, maybe I just wanted to feel more power.

Great video, it would be great if you could do this sort of thing for the 320d engine. I think alot would like to see how much power you could get from a 320d
Bonjour, ma 320D A Xdrive MSport a été modifié récemment, passage de la puissance de 184 cv et 380 Nm à 242 cv et 493 Nm de couple afin d'optimiser les performances du turbo , je viens de commander un wagner Intercooler compétition , je devrais récupérer couple et gain mais surtout fiabiliser le moteur avec plus d'air frais et de conserver son rendement , restera le passage au banc, actuellement j'ai l'impression d'avoir changé de voiture avec un couple présent à très bas régime sans rétrograder

Mine has 380 hp and 720 nm , 530d hybrid turbo 3.5 injectors this intercooler 🤩 and a good remap, straight pipe also
Interesting, so same car with a same tune. Just by installing a fmic, it's safe to expect some gains.
So as per their box are CSF OEM manufacturers for intercoolers?
How much more cm3 capacity does the csf intercooler have over OEM ?

@@gordoncrouch9943 it gained 25 lb.ft torque at the top end with just adding the intercooler.
Awesome. Does the 5.5" IC push back the rad fan at all? My mechanic as saying it protrudes 1/2" beyond the radiator and doesn't fit my 435xi. Appreciate your advice.
We haven’t experienced that yet. It’s a very tight fit and does require trimming from memory - Check CSFs install advice.
I’m currently looking for a 435d and with your two mods above having such impressive gains is there no market for air intakes etc as I’m struggling to find any for sale. Would you recommend any further mods or just these 2.
We haven't seen any gains from an intake so far. These two are more than good enough
This csf intercooler looks like it could fit an e90 335d? No one seems to make one for the 335d only the e90 335i

Good gains with an intercooler I've got a Forge intercooler and pipes etc on my M135i I'm looking at sports cat / de cat now any suggestions.

Hi Guys - interesting video. I have a 535d (313PS) which will soon be coming out of warranty - so looking at an ECU remap. Could the CSF intercooler and re-map be applied to my 535d also (obviously a re-map could be applied - but wondering about the general layout and therefore fitting the CSF as well) ?? Many thanks

It would be interesting to see how the intake cokes up over time with the CSF cooler on. With a lower intake temperature it may even cycle the EGR less to keep the intake track cleaner
What would be the difference between lowering the IAT with the intercooler and the same car being in a country with lowe ambient temps making the IAT the same?

Are the csf intercoolers even better then the wagner comp 2 intercooler? I heard the csf is the largest intercooler which cab be fitted to the 335d xdrive

Couldn’t say for sure, would need to check BMW part numbers, even then there may be something different meaning it wouldn’t fit etc.

Yes it does. Should be around 330-340 bhp
640d is the same as 335d / 435d in f30 terms, N57 engine and ZF8HP70
auto, beware the HP70,, it has a 700nm limit and remaps well exceed
this, and around 7grand to replace it.....the new g20 series are
completely different and use the newer B series engines I
believe............could do with more info on this torque limit as its
stopping me having one

You would see some benefit, but not as much as when tuned I imagine. Must admit we haven’t tested it in that configuration.

Hello will a CSF intercooler work well on a E90 335d?
I do not believe they make an intercooler for that car.
Should be running near 400 bhp and over 600 ftlbs with a uprated IC. I Wonder how these compare to a wagner IC? How much are they?
The gain is correct from the map. Winter tires make both pre and post reading lower than they should be but gains exactly what we expect. Usually we would except closer to 400 when the stock car makes 330 plus bhp. Not had any experience with Wagner . The CSF is £660 Inc vat.
If you did the same back to back test with the csf hardware on an f8x, you’d be first to do it, and that’s including csf

I thought 435D’s have 313bhp stock and stage one gets them to around 380/90 easy
I don't think this has had a DPF delete. They need it gutting or bypassing to hit 380+ but will hit that on the standard cooler.

Yea just remove the full front bumper. Turn the job from 30mins to 3 hours to make it alot easier

Then it'd make even more with a better intercooler...

273bhp ????? These are standard 313bhp. Surely winter tyres should not make that much of a difference
On a dyno they can make a huge difference. A lot of energy is lost as the softer rubber compound flexes against the roller.
One day I want to do an in-depth video explaining how dyno figures can be changed by conditions, so it would be fun to compare them back to back on the same car.
But you had no fan blowing through the intercooler 🤔
Yes we did, we always have a fan running when dyno’ing. Creates a wind speed of about 90mph and will bend a bonnet back on its hinges. Setup was exactly the same for before and after.
273 bhp stock. Wtf my tuned 123d makes that on the dyno
Disappointing results to be truthful. Meant to be nearly 310 standard without a map.
As explained in the video, winter tyres read considerably lower. More important is the delta, not the figures.
