Installing Kicker Speakers on 2004 Honda Accord

  • Once again I decided to do an audio upgraded on my Honda Accord. I got rid of the stock speakers and installed some Kicker Speakers that were 5 1/4 inch. (Kicker Speaker CS5) Although if you really wanted to, you could most likely install some 6 1/2 inch speakers. The installation was super easy and will most likely take anywhere from an hour to two. I tried my best to show everything but if I left anything out or you still have questions, feel free to leave a comment down below! Once again Thanks some much for watching and Subscribe to stay TUNED!

    The stock speakers on these are actually really well made and designed to be serviced, the magnet comes off the back and you can recone the speaker quite easily. The size difference in the magnet is because the Honda (Alpine) factory speaker uses a shielded neodymium magnet, whereas the Kicker uses a ceramic magnet.

    I like leaving comments on old videos, without any sense of the fact that they're old. So I'm doing that now. Good Vid. Mines over 300K and it still runs great.

    You’re actually supposed to use the same plastic mounting bracket the OEM speaker came in you just pop out the old speaker and cut out a bigger hole if needed to clear your new speaker magnet 👌

    Thank you for sharing your trails and errors and successes! I am discouraged by your experience. I have a 2003 Accord and was thinking about replacing the speakers. Not really sure a set of Kickers are worth the hassle. I did replace the door speakers on my 2018 Accord (I'm old) and it wasn't satisfactory as I had to make some harness (or bracket?) from a piece of MDF in order for the after market Kicker to fit in. The sound became harsher and unpleasant with the new speakers. The original factory speaker sound was more laid back, soft and pleasing sounding but of course lacks the "kick".

    Why did you attach the new wiring harness to the ones that came with the speaker instead of directly to the speaker!?

    Hey bro! Question does adding after market speakers mess up like your battery or alternator. Meaning like drain them more than normal?

    • @dustinandandria
      @dustinandandria ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Unless you have an amp or a head unit that draws a lot of current. But not the speakers.

  • @eddiediaz9267
    @eddiediaz9267 ปีที่แล้ว

    You need a bracket for bigger speakers, cause the bigger magnet. Plus it pushes the speakers out an inch or so which adds more sound and resonates better than it resonating with the metal door. Just a tid bit.

    with that mounting process, ive seen videos where people try to install 6.5" speakers in the doors and they have to cut the old factory speaker out of that mounting ring in order to keep use of the mounting ring. is there no other option? doesnt crutchfield send you a mounting ring? why dont i see videos of people using that mounting ring ?

    please do a new tweeter install I bought some alpine 6 and a half inch speakers that were to big for my door panels and I tried explaining to Audio Express that the magnet was too big now I know for a fact what size I need to get and they better exchange them cuz I did not spend $200 on speakers that weren't the right size the thing is my speakers came with tweeters as well so it would really help me a lot if you installed brand new tweeters thank you much love and go Honda!!!

      I've been actually planning on changing my tweeters although not too sure when yet if I did it would probably be in a couple weeks don't know if you would want to wait that long for a video it should be a simple install though and yea hopefully they replace it for you.

      Accord Empire that's legit. I think I'll invest in the door speakers. I'm a bit hesitant to install a sub in my accord... don't want my alternator giving out. Does your alternator still run all smoothly with the sub?

    • @AccordEmpire
      @AccordEmpire  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DirtiestValdez haven't heard of an alternator giving out before but yea mines good I would assume your battery would drain first since your amp is directly connected to it but yea try out the speakers install real easy and later on if you feel more confident look into getting a sub trust me it's worth it

      You don’t need the adapters you cut the stock one off and use blue wire caps to connect them

  • @valadezjose47
    @valadezjose47 ปีที่แล้ว

    So this is not a how to. They have a reverse plug for the speakers so you don't have to cut anything. Also there is a speaker mounting bracket that's what makes speaker sit as oem. And lastly I didn't see him say anything about polarity testing

  • @TheRoyalking761

  • @Mak933
    @Mak933 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a question from a complete idiot here... Couldn't you alternatively cut away the plastic housing from the original speaker harness, apply a soldering iron to the soldered connections of the original speaker to the original connector/harness, then solder the new speakers to the original connector/harness? This could save pretty anyone from having to purchase a separate harness. Not that it would save much money, but it would save time.

    • @Mak933
      @Mak933 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      One more suggestion: A quality receiver/stereo system will first be your best bang for your buck, rather than speakers. Start from the source: Uncompressed audio>Digital to Analog converter (DAC)>pre-amp/amplifier>speakers.

  • @jewllake
    @jewllake 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    honda stock speakers are shit! When we bought our 06 Accord EX brand new; two days later I pulled the door panels and rear speakers and replaced them. Front are infinity 2ohm 6.5 and the rear are alpine type s 6 1/2 cone speakers. Sounds much better. Still powering them off the stock nav radio.

    • @AccordEmpire
      @AccordEmpire  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      have you ever thought about changing the tweeter?

    • @jewllake
      @jewllake 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      it was a little too bright sounding for me, the ones on the dash, so I popped them off and put some cloth over them. Now they serve as a filler to the music when turned up at moderate levels. The front infinities i installed are 2ohm so they require lite to no power to sound great. The tweeters on those pivot and have a built in adjustable crossover.
