Thanks you guys for 500 subscribers. A little late to this because I got 500 subs while I was having my break from TH-cam. For a 500 sub special I will be uploading a diesel cold start compilation and burnout competition and a muscle cars and trucks cold start compilation
To me that just smells like a school bus on a cold school day morning. Hated that in middle school and hate it now at 35 years old 🤣 but i do love a good diesel sound
One thing I love about this video is that NOBODY used the damn “remote start” because it proves that “remote start” should NOT standard or optional on a full size pickup with a diesel engine!
I agree, I work on motorhomes as part of my job and some of the smaller ones are diesel and some even with remote start. I remember one day it was -5 outside and I had to start one up to move it inside of a bay and sure enough it was cranking for a solid few seconds then gave up. Had to do it 3 times to get it started. Would've preferred a key over that BS
Thank you ! Here in France, diesel had been generalized for daily using in the 90's and 2000's for any body So diesel engines had been improved To be near classic engines: no hard cold start and specific warming up unfortunately !
I remember a conversation I had with one of those guys in comments. I said they were junk because they wouldn't start and a bro told me yo it's set up for towing and I was like mate you can set it up for a moon shot but if it don't start we're walking.
Thing is, a diesel with everything working correctly, un modified.. starts like a gas with a low battery. Longer than usual but quick enough. These are modified, or something isn’t right
That first one somebody pulled the Duramax out dropped a cold blooded Detroit 4-53 2 cycle Very old video 10 years ago Click the link that's there you could see it
Probably modified to roal coal from what I have heard it makes cold starts harder, Also it's possible some of these have been sitting for weeks/months and have gummed up fuel

I have a 97 powerstoke that’s starts way better in 0 degree or single digits then most of these do. They’ll start good if their treated good and decently maintained especially if you use the glow plugs
I agree, I have an ‘89 7.3 idi non turbo with a completely stock motor and even in sub 30° weather it only takes two cycles of the glow plugs and she fires right off.
First truck is a Detroit 4-53t swapped 01-06 GMC Sierra 4x4, it’s hard starting because the 2 stroke Detroit’s don’t have glow plugs or grid heaters, instead the rely on the cranking to build up heat in the cylinders to create combustion and the reason for the pause between attempts is to let the starter cool off and heat soak the cylinders.
The guy with the Chevy around the n15 minutes mark is a riot. How do we make people with that little understanding of what they are trying to do. Dude, you might want to stick with a bike, training wheels could be optional
@@joejarrell2578 No no no no you got it wrong. Ya see I’m 16 so these 2000s trucks where the normal but now we got new shitbox diesels so to me that makes the 2000s trucks old.

The second truck is a 1999 ford which is 22 years old. Old enough to be in this compilation. It’s really opinion based on if you consider it old or not but I do
Alot if it is improper maintenance or not plugging in the block heater. I have a old 6.2 diesel. With just glow plugs it will start in 30 seconds or better and that's without block heater

I can smell the burning starters already 😅
My favourite is 2 stroke petrol engine smell like my RG500
@ronspencer676 I may love diesels, but by God I hate the smell of diesel smoke!

Yup. Major modifications
Major pains to 1st light on a cold day
Because they have to own the libtards in their prius's and Teslas by spraying unburnt fuel at them and showing their fragile egos

The 6.5 is a cool engine if you want a workhorse. Thats what trucks back in the 90s were supposed to be. But the 6.5 gets a LOT of hate.

I do too! Especially the older cars and trucks with carbs!

They intentionally don't plug the heater in for these videos. And probably don't let the glow plugs warm all the way

These trucks have got some real mechanical issues! It should NOT take that long for a properly working Diesel to start.
You probably don’t know how diesel engines work.. least the older ones in cold weather

It seems that these guys are unable to start a (cold) diesel properly. Most starting attempts are just coaling your neighborhood / the environment.
