My Indian ringneck had a pretty traumatic experience with the towel when I first took him to get his nails clipped. I took him to a store I volunteer at, where all the bird’s wings are clipped. I disagree with wingclipping, but It was good experience for me to work with all sorts of parrots. (I have since stopped volunteering) They were especially mean and rough to him, and hit him with a net, because they think flighted birds are a nuisance. It’s very nice to see you be so gentle with these birds!
Will be trying these techniques. My bird gets a LOT of stress when I try and restrain him so he can take his meds. I feel really bad and he ends up looking horrible after.
Ppl need to make these part of daily play, I could wrap my macaw up like a little burrito simply because we play with a towel daily, it’s especially so it’s not an extra stressed at the vet, mind not much stresses my macaw out, and I’ve taught him to stress chew his foot toys only, so he’s easy to decompress when he gets up there, Tysm for posting these, I didn’t know any of the official techniques so it’s great to practice with some of my tricker birds, who are rescues and not as confident as bigbie….
Is there a low-stress toweling technique for ground birds like quail who won't step on your hands? I've got a really flighty male who keeps getting loose and it's been very stressful for both of us.
Hello! I teach workshops for companion parrot owners and I LOVE this video on a variety of low stress towel techniques. Would it be okay if I share it in my teaching materials?
Hi Ronaldo, Toweling can take a lot of practice, hang in there. If you need more guidnace feel free to email me at melody@busybeaksacademy.com. Take care :)
If you are able to have somebody help you hold, that will be really helpful! One person holds in the towel and you focus on trimming the nails. The person restraining can hold the foot you aren't trimming so that it doesn't get in the way and accidentally clipped. If your cockatiel is very squirmy I would also just try to do one foot or even just a few nails at a time. They are likely trying to get out of the towel because they are scared (increase in escape/avoidance behavior), so keeping things short and sweet can be helpful in the long run!
@@bread8936 Ive had 4 cockatiels for 18 years. They still squirm when I cut there nails. My sister holds them while I cut. It really is alot easier and safer with two people.
My 2 parakeets freak out when I had tonuse a towel to carefully hold to trim nails I was afraid they'd have a heart attack cause they starting squeaking but I know I wasn't squeezing too much I kept rotating gently when they kept squirming
My bird is an African grey who is batshit crazy and very playful. He ended up removing his whole toe nail and I had to do this shit to bandage his toe. I almost lost all my fingers in process

I have to try these methods. Have to give meds morning and night and not good
Those birds are great models. So patient!
It might be low-stress for the bird, but my heart stops every time I touch their neck, lol.

I love how you have such gentleness and kindness to all the beautiful birds. God bless you 🌹
The toga is adorable. I’m gonna try that one.

You make it look easy jeez
Konstantinos Chaikalis honestly though 😂
The birds are making it easy for sure. 😂
These birds are definitely seasoned "teachers" when it comes to toweling and restraint. :)
Thank you for making this. How do I go about making my grey comfortable with the towel and such :)
What about birds that fly away (new untamed)

Mine keeps trying to escape when I hold him:/

And grumpy parakeets?
My caique has his first vet appointment soon. Curious what they’ll do with him. He steps up, but is wary of strangers still.
I have a rlly squirmy cockatiel. He keeps moving his feet when I’m trying to clip and i accidentally clipped to far down. Any tips for next time?

Busy Beaks Academy oh I didn’t think about someone holding his foot! Thank you

Thank you, you helped me grab my bird
what about birds who you have to grab from inside the cage, and afraid of the towel? 😅
My Timneh would bite my very soul through the towel!
My blue and gold macaw would go bat sh*t CRAZY if I, or anyone else tried any of these techniques
Try that with my parrotlet that hates hands 😳.
very cute very nice but doesn't work well with a large male mullackin cockatoo that doesn't like to be picked up lol
Такой способ подходит только для ручной птицы.
I loved the video but kept waiting for the one for the cage-bound bird who will eat your hand 😔.
My bird is having no part of this shit, lol. The towel is the devil
What the prie of a hyacinth going for now
Well my demonic bird could never

My bird would not go for any of these. He would be biting and scrambling.
Its stupid, using the same birds, of course their gonna be used to the towel!
