Reacting to The Beatles is like walking an icy tightrope, so much copyright surrounding them you end up listening to a edited version someone was able sneak on youtube…i appreciate the video going live and everyone who stops by to check it out, you never know with these reactions but always appreciate you guys with the expertise and guidance.
I really don't understand all the copyright, blocking nonsense. All the reactions do is bring attention to music that would otherwise be missed by so many people. I only see it as good publicity, especially for older bands/musicians, that could easily be overlooked by a younger generation of music fans. Super irritating. Keep doing what you're doing Pope💜
If you'd like a band that really supports reaction channels sharing their unedited work, check out Primus. They've even been known to intercede personally to make sure people can use their songs and videos. If you do give them a listen, be ready for an awesome, but very weird, style. I recommend "Tommy the Cat" as a good intro to see what they're all about.
I hope you get to listen to the original even if only for yourself, copyright is crazy it makes no sense to put up barriers. I am so glad you chose tolisten to this song, it was so ahead of its time it is hard to describe...
When it came out, it was not just a great song. It was a confirmation that things were changing and evolving, really fast. It was an historically important statement.
people who know not what they speak , still call The Beatles "too Pop "........does this sound like pop to anyone in their right mind...pun intended ! Peace and love.
First EVER drum loop in popular music. There are monks chanting in the background, backwards guitars, sample of sounds - it was miles ahead of its time.
It literally announced the start of the psychedelic era of the late 60's and told people where they'd be going next with "Sgt. Pepper". My mom said that when she heard it in high school at the time that it sounded like it came from another planet.
There isn't any band ever that had such a diverse range of sounds than the Beatles. Even their later, psychedelic albums had plenty of bubblegum-pop songs. But then you take something like this, that's so cutting-edge and post-modern that it would sound perfectly in place on one of Radiohead's experimental albums from the '00s. They have songs that my 96-year-old grandmother loves, and songs that my metalhead friends love too. What a band.
Do yourself a favor and check out King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. If you don’t know who they are, seriously, the most prolific band ever. Great stuff out of Australia.
This was just three years after "Love Me Do," which was teeny bopper bubble gum. It's incredibly how quickly music changed in the mid 1960s. LSD was a big part of it--this is an acid song--but there was also just a sense that society had become stale and plastic, and a new world needed to be created. It was very similar to the 1920s, when writers, artists, and composers suddenly threw out all of the old rules because after the horrors of WWI European civilization seemed dead. It's no coincidence that the weirdness of the 60s exploded right along with the expansion of the war in Vietnam, which really took off in 1965. This song is a very early example of this change.
Wayyy ahead of their time! It was outrageous for 1966 doing loop taping and creating something different outside of Rock music, today you can label it as drum and bass with a bit of techo. They re created a new style that push music to a new level creativity in the music studio. It’s a sound that cannot be re created.
Last song from REVOLVER . Later albums got more fame , but psychedelic music began here , with this song . If you listen carefully to Hendrix , he plays this melody at one of his NY shows .
"Tomorrow Never Knows" kicked the psychedelic era in rock music into high gear. John Lennon pinched the lines in the first verse from the Tibetan Book of the Dead, which LSD guru Timothy Leary translated into English as part of the manual for acid trips he published back in the sixties, The Psychedelic Experience. This mix, however, buries a lot of the crazy backwards sounding tape loop effects in the song. "She Said She Said" and "I'm Only Sleeping" are the other two psychedelic classics on The Beatles Revolver album. "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "I Am The Walrus" from The Magical Mystery Tour album top them.
Revolver! "And your bird can sing" .."I want to tell you" She said She said, " I'm only sleeping"...& that whole LP. Is Stellar.. Pope! This here, A day in the life, what a Fantastic pick! Enjoy 😉💙
They can also Rock out with the best. The Beatles did not have a genre, they created genres. Check out the video for "Revolution". You will see them Rock hard while giving a great message against violence. Their song, "Blackbird" was about the struggles of The Black community during the 1960s. They were simply the best.
Other great psychedelic songs 😁 - Echoes - Pink Floyd In a Gada Da Vida - Irin Butterfly Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun - Pink Floyd 2000 Light Years From Home - The Rolling Stones Journey To The Center Of The Mind - The Amboy Dukes Eight Miles High - The Byrds I Had Too Much To Dream- The Electric Prunes No Quarter- Led Zeppelin Planet Caravan - Black Sabbath Smell of Incense- The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band Incense And Peppermints - The Strawberry Alarm Clock

I was in 5th grade when Revolver came out. My brother and I thought they had gone "weird". Now, this song is like a talisman. I listen to it all the time and think of how life turns out.
Hell, even shorter from 1962-1969 fall of each year. Releasing 9 albums and a full double album worth of singles alone in that span with no bad tracks.
I was a little girl when this came out. My eldest sister bought every Beatle album. To this day I play this song in my head when I have trouble sleeping. Every sound is imprinted on my brain. (lucky me!) 😺 They had to fight for including it on the album because ( some powers that be) insisted it was not, technically, a song. ie: no chorus or structure. Thank goodness creative control won! You will find a cornucopia of styles in their creations. So happy you are exploring them. Thank you for sharing young man! 😽💋🎶
1966. One of the first songs to use extensive tape loops, both forward and backward, to produce the psychedelic sounds! Some of the techniques were developed on the spot by the recording engineers. As inventive as they turned out to be, I bet they were happy to be "set free" as it were to do crazy inventive shit.
That was one reason the beatles got tired of touring because there's no way you could reproduce this Song on stage live in1966. Now it would be simple A computer Could be as many extra instruments as you would need. But on stage, the beatles were three guitars and a set of drums, and that was it.
Best band in history. There's years worth of amazing and awesome material here so it's hard to narrow it down for reactions. So, maybe try ,"I Am The Walrus", "Because," [which is stunning], "Oh, Darling", "I Want You [She's So Heavy]", "We Can Work It Out" and "Strawberry Fields Forever", to suggest, for starters!. Btw, this version of "Tomorrow Never Knows" is not the original, which is better. Cheers Pope!
Blows my mind they were making music like this back in ‘66. If it came out today it would still be interesting. Highly recommend checking the Wikipedia on this song because the whole background and recording of it is fascinating.
This song has lyrics inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead. As others have mentioned, they used tape loops; each Beatle brought in instrument/sound loops that could be used forwards or backwards. Paul brought in 16 tape loops of guitar sounds and bits of vocals and people stood around the room holding pencils for the tapes to loop around as they were feed into the recording machine to help create some of the effects. In fact, the bird-like, seagull sounding noise is a loop of Paul laughing that got sped up. John's voice was put through a Leslie speaker, which helped give it the vocal effect. John was always after producer George Martin to change the sound of his voice in production. This song is psychedelic, haunting, and a little spooky. They were advanced, they were avant-garde, they were art.
I was a toddler when this song came out, but by listening to this, I can automatically remember those days, especially Vietnam. We weren't at our A game during the 60s, but I'm glad younger generations can experience this and hopefully know the real history. Now that recreational marijuana is legal where I live, I wonder if I dare listen to this song while lighting up. Probably not; I'm worried my brain will explode.
Hello, Pope. I'm guessing this is your "first time hearing...". And yes, the first time you hear "Tomorrow Never Knows" it's a LOT to process. It did take me many listens to fully appreciate all that's going on in this song. And now it's my favorite track on "Revolver". I've been a Beatles fan since the early 1970s, so roughly 50-some years.
@@helenespaulding7562 I don't remember exactly but it was pretty high up there, definitely in the top 40. I first heard the Beatles 'very pop' early songs on the radio when I was very young and they made me feel like no other music I had heard. By the time I was a teenager, I had heard everything I could by them and it was the later songs that spoke to me the most.

Hey there. If you think this "song " it's strange or weird, imagine when in 1966, passing on your radio for the first time. It wasn't ever played live because there wasn't technology enough to do it 😊
it was 1966 as i recall and this song ended the new album, revolver, there was no doubt we all knew they were tripping =set the stage for the psychedelic revolution
very influential progressive psychedelic world fusion creativity from the band that opened up musicians imagination to the possibilities beyond the established norms! Conceptually very unique and impactful at the time instrumentally, lyrically and spiritually.
Lennon came up with the title of song after hearing Ringo incorrectly say tomorrow never knows instead of tomorrow never comes. Both sayings make sense to me. Very deep meaning wrapped in a rock-n-roll sandwich.

well done in getting this one up Pope, as you say it's a challenge to get any Beatles material for reactions. Great song, great reaction (and great drugs back in the 60's !!)
A strange mix, not the original - sounds like a fan made mix with his/her own instrumentation in places - especially some of the backwards loops. This is the original. th-cam.com/video/pHNbHn3i9S4/w-d-xo.html
Totally agree. It doesn't make sense to me why music reactors who are fully aware of how strict TH-cam is when it comes to uploading a video including substantial amounts of official Beatles music don't question how someone has managed to keep the entirety of "official" Beatles track Tomorrow Never Knows up on their random channel without it being taken down. I always advise Beatles reactors to find songs on the official Bealtes channel only since every uploaded Beatles song on youtube NOT on the official channel is nearly always a cover, a shitty version, or something bad trying to pass-off as the original. With this one, whilst the vocals, bass, and drums seem to be from the official song, the uploader has replaced the tape loops and organ with their own homemade version? You're totally correct in spotting that.

Just as well to be prepped, in my opinion. :-)
This beatles song was based on the ancient Tibetan book, the book of the Dead. Which said if you go through your life doing good, you will be rewarded in your next life.
Dude, in total agreement on the Beatles. They can’t be topped. But I want to bring your attention to a young new talented duo from Norway named Nico and Vinz. Please look up “Nico and Vinz In Your Arms Senkveld to watch them performing their second powerful hit in a row, “In Your Arms”, live on Norwegian television, singing in perfect English. Vinz Dery’s signature backing vocals have to be heard to be believed. Please watch this live performance by this amazing new musical talent on the world’s scene.

Baaed on a 2000 year old philosophy
The ironic thing is that this was their attempt to create a ancient transient piece from the Indian culture.

From a 'boy band' to this in a few years
Dude, in total agreement on the Beatles.
