The loudness of ads is just a joke...
When i started playing tarkov my friends had to explain to me that putting a gun on your shoulder makes a very audible noise. Still don't understand how that would work unless you got the motoric function of a disabled person

Im pretty convinced people would somehow camp/rat more than they already do if there was no sound for ads-ing. So I’m good with the loud one lol

I like the rain too, the only problem is if you are inside it's stupid easy to hear people outside, exemplifying the already existing audio issues. I stopped playing because the audio experience is terrible. As someone who is on the spectrum, it's pretty hard for me to concentrate on the right audio cues already.

I've always loved the SKS, it was my go to weapon from start until flea when you could get PS ammo early on. The updates and upgrades to the SKS and the modding made it my favorite gun this wipe, despite its drawbacks. Only downside is it's just a clickfest in CQB. Still love it and use it a lot of the time, even now.
Also worth mentioning is that it's pretty accurate compared to other 762 AK models and it really shows at longer distances.
Yesterday out of 5 or 6 raids on customs/woods there was rain every single time
Dawg, the SKS has been one of the best balanced weapons since it was introduced all those years ago.
Used to see people meta PACA armor, the Kiver and SKS back in 2017/18

What I do for my sks: ALWAYS bring drum mag. Fill 60 of it with PS ammo. Take a full stack of your best ammo and put it in your case. You click and drag the bullets after firing into the gun. If you have an extended fight you still have plenty of PS rounds in the drum. You only need 3 of the good stuff to really drop someone. Ammo efficient, no one is taking your BS, extra ratty.
Do you think the 35 round mag is good enough to do the same technique?
SKS was always caked imo one of the best early wipe guns and also just a general purpose timmycannon (especially when you get PP or BP)

I have been a huge fan of SMGs this wipe and been running those most of the time along with the MCX .300 blackout.
Same, was pissed at the shittyness of 5,56 this wipe and remembered cbj, basically 7.62 bp but at higher rpm
As a solo i run the sks with the 75 mag only vs groups in closed range jobs and this give this gun absolutly massive mass destruction style

@Gigabeef Here's some advice on how to get the most out of them:
When using them in combat:
You have two use cases here, you can use them for cover, or as a diversion.
Cover: Pretty simple, throw them in such a way that you extend the piece of cover you are behind such that you can make a safer repositioning. Down a hallway for example.
Diversion: Throw the smoke in such a way that the enemy will think that you're going/hiding in a certain place. Meanwhile, you're going in the complete opposite direction to reposting. Example: You're behind a hill, you have a save way to retreat out of sight. Throw the smoke on either side of the hill, the enemy will think you're taking cover in the smoke. You can now retreat, and the enemy will think that you're still on the hill. This is my favorite application of smoke, and it's very fun seeing the enemy walk around the smoke scratching their head trying to figure out where I am, meanwhile I'm 200m away lining up a perfect headshot. People have this strange idea that "He threw a smoke, he can't possibly have left, who in their right mind would leave their smoke grenade?" So when they peak over the hill but can't see you, they don't think you've repositioned, they think you're INSIDE the smoke haha, it's the same, every time!
The green smoke should be used in combat (M18), the "stick" (RDG-2B) uses forever to get a good cloud, and it is actually pretty hard to even spot that there is smoke there at all because it's so dark green/brown that it blends with the terrain. Aka. the opposite of what we want to do.
When using them in non-combat:
I don't see a lot of situations where this would be useful, however there is one. If you've killed a guy and he's in the open but you still want to loot him. What you do is you throw the RDG-2B 1m in front of the body in the most dangerous direction. Why the RDG? It's highly concealed, and is basically completely non-see through. If you're standing inside the smoke it is possible to see you though, that's why you need to throw it in front of the body, not on it.
Finally, debreif of what you did in the video next to the bus:
You throw the smokes, however to a very low degree of efficiency. why? you throw the smoke so far in front, that the enemy will almost definitely be able to see you moving into the smoke, so you're not really getting the diversion effect here, rather you're creating just a very small bit of cover. That is... when the smokes bloom up, however you proceed to run away long before that. The enemy will probably have seen you crossing, and so they know that you're no longer next to the smoke. Making those 2 smoke grenades completely wasted.
Instead, you could have thrown the smoke on the right side of the bus, and perhaps one further behind in the field (in LOS of the enemy), this would create the effect that you're trying to sneak around in the field behind to get a shot on the enemy. Meanwhile, you will prone in the ditch next to the road, and prone move away from the bus, and away from the fight. The enemy would now be clueless to the fact that you've escaped, while they think that you're still behind the bus. You can use this to your advantage.
TLDR: Ideal smoke placement is such that it's impossible for the enemy to see you move into the smoke. You're not actually going to move into the smoke, but the enemy doesn't know that.

It's all I run unless I'm going to be 100% close quarters. Always get them back in insurance. Maybe a few attachments are gone but for the most part gun is whole. Buy the meta attachments on the cheap stock up life goes on.

My go to build for sks is 85.5 ergo and 85 recoil. My boys always wonder why im running an sks with t5 armor and faceshield and com4s, but often im the last man standing lol
If you don't mind me asking, how are you managing to swing 85.5 and 85? Closest I"m getting is using the Tapco Intrafuse with stock with the GL Shock buttstock and SRVV AKM on the muzzle which puts me at roughly 71/87 depending on a few small tweaks.

What scope would you recommend as the sig is quite expensive?
Vudu barter is probably the "best of the meta scopes". Otherwise, elcan probably for a budget but decent choice - can be cheap sometimes if you do the prokill barter on Mechanic 2 for an M4 and sell the rest of the gun back - usually cheaper than flea

Ive been enjoying the sks alot this wipe, cheap and effective. Also I love rain in tarkov since I can't sound whore it means I'm not always at a massive disadvantage
Speaking of when it rains i wouldn't have an issue if it was here n there but i swear when it did rain 90% of raids were in rain
I believe the reason that we haven't seen rain yet, is becauae BSG are reworking the rain, so it is turned off, for now. They have been cranking out sound work lately. It only takes time.

Always loved the sks in tarkov. Haven’t tried it much in awhile tho maybe need to give it another shot with these builds.

Idk, I feel like I've noticed some inconsistency in recoil. When I'm shooting my guns in the hideout, full auto ones are sometimes a straight line or they have more side to side bounce.

For me the 762x39 PP rounds kills alot better than 762x51 M80. M80 isnt what it used to be

Weapon parts are not expensive. Buy a vpo from jaeger and use it in the craft station to get 2 weapon parts its loke 30k

Top load with BP with PP, dmr stats. my only complaint is the accuracy after 50m. It gets a little spready.

For some reason the SKS has just never worked for me. I’ve never been good with it. I know it’s everybody’s favorite budget 762x39, but I’ve never been a huge fan of that caliber anyway.

That the impact shift of using different ammos only really matters if the round has a much higher or lower fps than the round that the gun is zeroed to

No. Just no. SKS is the worst gun in Tarkov. It jumps unpredictably all over the place when you're shooting. It's wildly inaccurate with scopes. It uses bad ammo that don't register on hits. It's mag reloading animation took too much time. SKS is just bad. Don't use it. Keep your nerves safe. Oh, and also you can buy any other actually good gun with the money spent on modding of this garbage stick, so it's not very budget either.
Wrong, wrong, and incredibly wrong. Some of the best players in the game like Rengawr are running this and saying it's great. The recoil rework did wonders for it. And you can always use the bug to skip reloads

If we take a good player in a vacuum, and arm said player with a bad gun - he will still perform well. Because, you know, he's a good player. And a good player in Tarkov knows what he's doing and knows how he should do the thing he's doing to achieve desired result. Which is proven by countless streamers "hardcore challanges", in which any kind of "hardcore" ends the moment the stramer kills first decently geared player while using scav kit. That's not the point. The point is that me, and my friends, and people online whitnessed really bad performance from SKS during not just this wipe, but many wipes before. And i described said bad performance higher. Also, i don't see now and don't remember many people using the SKS, other than player scavs and Timmies. If you're forced yourself to believe othervise, well, i'm not gonna try to change your mind. There is enough guns in Tarkov for everybody. As i said, let's agree to disagree. Have a nice day.
Quit trolling, there's a 60K barter for an SKS with that chassis. You're paying like another 50K for a suppressor and a 2x. It does the job.
