Just came back from a walk. Sitting in a park, in spite of the light pollution and bad air quality, I saw three shooting stars between 3:25 and 3:54 am. The last one blazed luminously, perhaps not as vivid as in the countryside, but still very luminous, with a long tail, and lasted a good second. Thanks for your video!
I think I saw 2 when I was stargazing on holiday in New Zealand. It was in the night of 11 to 12 august ‘23. It was totally spectacular on top of all the constellations we saw!
I got excited about seeing meteor shower so I checked Sky Safari app. Apparently Perseus is visible around 4-5am where I live. If I get the urge to wake up early and check them out I’ll report back. Thanks for teaching me about comets, meteoroids, meteors and meteorites. I came up with a memory aid I hope you will enjoy. Meteoroids are on roids, so they’re boosting through space. Meteors burn up as they enter the atmosphere, so their voice goes ‘ors. (hoarse) Meteorites hit the ground, so you ask them “are you ‘rite?” (Alright)
Thanks for the update and info on the Perseiades Miss Janine. Will be looking up if the clouds clear up. I seen m4 and Antares together last night with my 6 inch Dobsonian. Would love to split the double double. Clear sky's.
From my home in a densely populated city with restricted viewing by trees and 2 story houses I still saw 7 meteors looking east by northeast from 3:30 AM to 4:15AM. One was a very short flash of dim light, four were longer very distinct streaks , and two were very bright, not sure how long as they disappeared behind my neighbors big house. This was the first meteor shower I have seen in 40+ years. Still remember camping with my best buds and seeing hundreds in single sittings with unobstructed country skies. Gotta stop and smell the roses more often.
I still remember my first great meteor shower....it was the Geminids in 2019. I have never seen so many meteors. I honestly hope everyone has the opportunity to see a great meteor shower in their lifetime. Thank you for sharing your experience. 🌌 🌠
The stars just look like a bunch of dots to me. I still wonder how people can look up and see shapes. To me there are enough little dots up there to draw anything your heart desires. I know very few constellations or stars like Orions Belt, big and Little Dipper, North Star, etc. but I find what’s up there both beautiful and very amazing!
I’am looking forward to being with my boyfriend , reuniting after 28yrs. To seeing , engaging this special time. Together . We’re so excited. Camp out in Black Rock - High Rick , NV. Highly recommend. 😃 Thank you again for sharing this video.
Hello im Leo and im huge spacenerd so that's why I found your channel and subscribed it, I wan't learn new things about night sky what is full of stars. Im hyped about Perseid Meteor shower and ive heared and readed this august is the best month to see Perseid, this would be my first time ive evrer seen meteor shower and its easier to see those here in countryside without city lights. By the way I can't wait Leonids meteorshowers when these is? 🌠
I have been watching meteors since mid July. The Southern Delta Aquariids are also out. I have seen a few fireballs streak across the sky. Even if I just see a couple a night I am happy. My view is limited of the sky but enough to get a good view
Thank you for your information rich videos on space and the universe. From your videos I learned about a lot of constellations and how to find them in the sky. About this video, I can find casseopia very easily and also I can spot Capella but I am still unable to properly identify Auriga and Perseus. I am still training my brain to identify it. Hopefully I will be able to do it soon. And eagerly waiting for the peak of perseids meteor shower.
This video is amazing! Thank you for making it! It gets confusing for me on where to find this due to working out of state so much! I get turned around! The August Showers have always been my favorite because they have an amazing display, we always drug out the lawn chairs and pillows and snacks to watch this! Question from the space to earth position? Respectfully ❤ if I’m in Florida, facing the Atlantic Ocean; Are they north, south, east or west?🙂
We were out at 3:30 this morning and only saw a couple of falling stars. If it wasn't for the Owl, Bats and Nighthawks i'd have called it a wash. Oh well, maybe next summer?
RIP Robin Williams Robin picked the Perseid Peak in 2014 to return his atoms I've been observing meteor showers since 1988 😁 I like the meteors that are so Bright, ùnd so Long, That they leave what appears to be a smoke trail high up afterwards ☝😍🤩😄💯👍
Well done! It might have been good to start with the North Star Polaris as location point. When I look up, I get overwhelmed with what I see and can't see. Interesting the what we “can” see, probably doesn't even exist...
I wish we could see a graphic showing both the constellation Perseus and the incoming orbit of the Swift-Tuttle remnants. I assume that’s where they are coming in from but seeing it would be nice. The meteors can be seen over a week or more. In that period, the constellations have moved. Is that reflected in where the radiant appears in the sky during that time? Could someone show that? Seeing a graphice ahowing the comet’s orbit as seen from outside the solar system and then seeing a graphic showing the constellations and the meteor radiants is nice but there’s a disconnect, in my head at least, between the two. But thank you for this video.
The radiant will always come from Perseus. That doesn’t change throughout the weeks. But when you observe, you will notice meteors all across the sky. Looking in the north and east directions are best.
I saw perseids meteor shower in 2022 and in 2023 i forgot. In 2024 this time i came early at 10:30 PM and simply left thinking the meteor shower is not today.
Latinamerica. Cloudy as F these days. I barely got a chance around 5am and barely saw two, a good one and one meh. Always a pleasure being around in the night.
I saw one meteor a few nights ago but nothing last night and I can't get out tonight due to a commitment.Although no meteors last night a very fine view of Jupiter coming up over the sea at about 23hr onwards.
I saw a huge meteor last night just before midnight moving to the east and another huge meteor maybe 20 minutes ago headed in pretty much the same direction.
I was getting excited about [possibly photographing this event, but according to Photo Pills, the rate in my area is about 10 meteors per hour. I'm wondering if it is worth the time and effort for such a low rate.
Thank you once again Janine 👍.
This morning I witnessed one of the calmest perseid nights ever. Only a handful in 2 hours.

Groovy 😊
You were out on a walk that late 😲

Great lesson on Perseid Comet showers!!!
Thanks for another informative video Janine!

Where is live the forecast is calling for cloudy skies so everyone pray that changes 🤞
Amazing birthday present for me for today, I hope that I will see it tonight
Very good and clear explanation of a complicated subject. Thank you
I live on the coast of Maine. It's almost always cloudy when we have one of those showers.
I know the feeling. It hasn’t been a great summer on the east coast. Lots of storms and too much air quality issues.
I'm in the PNW and seeing winter meteor showers... meh.
Great video! Very informative and detailed. I hope I will be able to see some of the Perseids this weekend.
Just found ur channel....u r very underrated ! Tnx for the info. Plz continue ur work

Its because of the light from cities/towns, go into a very remote area in your state/country and you can see the entire milky way
@@LofiCameron you also need a dry atmosphere to have such a good visibility
Every constellation was made at least 2000 years ago. You just need to think like a Mesopotamian when you look up.😅
Lol ur too close to the painting. Scoot back some
The constellations ARE 💯% History written in the stars, Hero's and Kings of old,Great and Noble Queens. Honor them! 💯
Amazing

They will come from all directions. It’s best to find a way to sit back, relax, enjoy the show.
Such a great video, thank you so much 🙏 I’m going to shoot meteors shower today for the first time. Very excited 😜
I saw them i went place wheres no light pollution i saw many. Btw i live in Finland. I was awake to the midnight
I am happy you got to see them. It’s been raining where I live.
Janine thank you 👏
Im in yonkers New York. Omg omg . I just saw about nine or eight balls of light in a row last night.
