    I appreciate that you add that “for an crossover” caveat to the your observations. It’s good to have a reference, understanding that it’s “fun” for a crossover, not necessarily for a sedan/hatch.
    Likewise when you said that it was fine to have somewhat numb steering feedback, since it’s not a sports car.
    Good review!

    • @Trustmebro091
      @Trustmebro091 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Wayne Rhea I don’t think they make German quality cars. They make JAPANESE quality cars. Unlike other brands, rather than try to emulate Mercedes or BMW, Mazda is emulating their own Japanese kodo culture with Japanese engineering (engineering that’s both luxurious and reliable). It’s all Japanese quality in its own right.

    • @rdm925
      @rdm925 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Think at Mazda is making it's own way, but Wayne Rhea has a point. I think Mazda is moving more premium and getting quality and design ideas from the German luxury brands. I like to think of them as sort of a Japanese BMW.

    Why weren't your main gauges changing with the comfort/sport/econo mode changes? I noticed the center console was indicating correctly. I've never had that happen. I did leave the sunroof open once and for a day the rained-on center console buttons did not function or light up. That was scary as the warranty was about up.

      Handling should be better being that it's primarily rear wheel drive with the xDrive whereas RDX is primarily front wheel drive and can be ordered with all-wheel drive. Basically for handling you want rear wheel drive as your primary.

    Nice SUV, I took it out for a test drive. For someone who is coming from a sedan, coupe or hatchback, this vehicle is going to feel sluggish and offer poor handling. Yes, it's not a fair comparison, but I feel most people graduating from those smaller vehicles are likely looking at the X3 for family purposes. And, this crossover is going to disappoint many. I would recommend taking the X3 M40i for a test drive instead where you have the B58 engine and the stiffer suspension. It'll get you a bit closer if you're coming from 2-series or 3-series BMWs.

      Actually about 0 to 60 in about 6.1 seconds. It's actually one of the faster 2 liters. I have one of these and it's pretty fast as far as I'm concerned. Top speed is limited to 130 miles per hour electronically and I'm sure it would have no problem doing that and probably more.
