That was excellent!!!! The Foley sounds and voice acting were 10 out of 10!! I hope, to find more work of David Pownall. From Ireland, Sunday, the 30th of October 2022 @6.34 pm 🧡🇮🇪💚
Synopsis: World War II is raging. A plucky, young war widow from Liverpool leaves the strife of her parents' house to make her own way. She takes her two small boys and finds a position as cook for a retired Colonel and his wife. Will this be the home she's looking for? Can she escape the damage that the war has caused?
Though accents are spot on, I’m surprised the family saying “Bye” in the leaving the house & home in Liverpool scene, instead of “ta ra”, which would be more likely, tended to undermine the authors object of authenticity.
Sober and depressing "slice of life" story. Lots of great characters and acting but sad, fatalistic storyline. Just and FYI for others who may not be in the mood for such things. I'm sure it would be really interesting to many but it left me really unsettled.
Reminds me of the old days , at the end of the war, Rabbit stew was always on table, me and Father poached at night, we had a 4.10 foldaway shot gun, hidden in a side pocket. Good day's, .
Born in 1951 in-between Liverpool and Manchester brought back so many memories.
Loved it Thank You.
I grew up with practically nothing extra, but life wasn't like that. It's amazing, what a decent man as a father can do.
One of the best radio drama's I've ever had the pleasure of listening Simply Wonderful ⛄🎄⛄👌
Absolutely! greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦❤
Well! Said! I loved it too.
The character authenticity (accents aside) & the dialogue...easily among the best I've heard from these radio dramas.
Ah, the wonderful Mollie Sugden. It was a real treat listening to this. Thank you for uploading it.
Sending you prayers and love from Western Australia 🇦🇺
Love your content ❤️🙏🏻

So well done. The heartbreak of war. The horrors of alcoholism. The frustrations of a class society. The deep loneliness of the human condition.

...the repetitive toll of predictable clichés.
The incessant sniping of mean-spirited trolls

Excellent. Thank you.
Love Molly and was sorry for story to end.
Mollie sugden from are you being served so nice to see her in another kind of part
Yes, I picked up on her voice right away. She played in numerous radio and TV roles throughout her career.
Very enjoyable 😁
Thanks for this gem. I adore English radio series about life during the war.
Yeah, they had it rougher than non European countries.
Good listening, enjoyable .

I'm going to subscribe. Wonderful radio.
Very good❤
Thanks man
Loved it!
Thanks a v thoughtful play with an honest and untidy ending
I disagree about the ending, as I only realised what had really happened to their horse-loving daughter right at the very end!
Thank YOU 😌❤️👍

Thank you for this..very helpful
You're welcome, Fifi.
Thanks for the synopsis. Not all radio dramas have them so you have to start listening and hope for the best.

Thank you for posting Take Care
That was brilliant, but not the ending I would have liked!

Love this radio drama❤
A parable
Well...weird. no real resolutions. Abrupt ending.
Molly Sugden from Are you being served
The British accent makes this American sleepy and I mean that in a good way 🇺🇸 🦅 ⭐
📻😀
H good
What dreadful parents!
I only realised what had really happened to their horse-loving daughter right at the very end!
As a Liverpudlian, some awful, inauthentic accents here.
I didn’t enjoy that at all it was all to close to the truth
This must have evoked sad memories. Hope you're OK.
I love Molly Sugden ,but her scouse accent was the worst I've heard. I enjoyed the play though.
Uno/ right...
