    "U will be fine anyways" man that's so accurate, a lot of young folks don't understand that school is almost like nothing, unless u wanna go to study doctor, lawyer or something that requires high eduction.People forget that most payed job in the world is "Business"

    • @willthecardude6900
      @willthecardude6900  2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      It's true. School can teach you knowledge and skills that can help you start your own business, or become employed by a rich business that pays a great salary, but at the end of the day a High School degree or grades don't count for anything, what you learn in High School does. I wish I had paid more attention in certain classes like government or the sciences because it's nice to know these things. The people who truly achieve great success in higher education actually are passionate about what they're learning, not in it for class recognition or getting a good grade. The ones who go through the motions end up miserable. If you're happy with something else that can make you money and can capitalize off of it, or can just be content doing something that will get you by, then by all means, dedicate yourself to get good at it regardless of if it means going to school or not!
      I mean, if you memorized all your notes in medical school, you'd be f***d on the job, but if you took the time to understand them because it's what you were passionate about, you might become a great doctor. As an employee, many professions that take a lot of skill and knowledge don't pay as well as they probably should either, just because they're not part of high society, or run by huge businesses who can afford to monopolize, and college is a lot of the time a way to be a part of these huge businesses, which part of the reason people are willing to pay so much for it in hopes of securing a place in higher society (which they shouldn't have to) but that's a different issue and social class isn't a good measure of success!

I feel even more unmotivated and worried but at the same time numb . I used to have A’s and B’s since 5th grade so it was a huge shock . I always thought I had a growth mindset but I guess I only had a fixed mindset this whole time . I watched this video when I was failing 11th. I didn’t fail yet but I had very little chance of recovering my grades. I wasn’t exactly stressed, a little disappointed in myself maybe but I was surely terrified of my parent’s reaction. I knew I needed to speak up and let them know that I am struggling but I didn’t want to hear the nagging and “I told you so…” and blah blah blah. I also had very little motivation to pass honestly, however, this wasn’t the first time I was in this situation. I thought this semester would be different but after some personal problems, I couldn’t get myself together. It wasn’t easy explaining to my teachers or parents, I am not the kind of person who can express her ideas and thoughts properly. I decided that I wanted to get this shit over with and just pass. It took hours of dreadful work and an existential crisis but I ended up recovering my grades and passing. I am very grateful because this video changed my attitude about school and my studies. Not taking it so seriously in the sense of there is no hope if I fail actually helped me stay focused and do my work. Thank you

      I'm in the exact same situation rn, with all the not expressing yourself and being terrified of others reactions, also in grade 11th. Even if I do fail, there's nothing i can do about it now because they don't allow retests. I just feel useless and being behind everyone in my grade while they're passing gets me so disappointed.

    • @makk.11
      @makk.11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      Dude I failed 9th grade. Worst part though is that I kept telling myself that I was a failure or that I was failing before I actually did. At the time it didn't occur to me that I hadn't technically failed anything. I still had time, a lot of it. Yet I was so quick to to deem myself as anything but successful just because of some grades. Which in the long run hindered me from even trying to push through the loads of work I had to make up. Instead I should've addressed the bigger complications in my personal life first before trying to allow my grades to dictate what the rest my life ought to look like. You're not alone in this whatsoever. This year was pretty lackluster and somewhat dark for me too.

      Honestly you'll be alright. Even if you fail HIgh school, if you're not satsified with your basic job, you'll be able to eventually go back to college, or school whenever you're ready for it if that's even what you chose to do, or choose to work as something else like I did. i was looking for a video like this, so glad i came across this one.
    when i was younger i used to be a gifted student, i managed to get good grades without studying much and i loved learning about random stuff in my free time, i was very curious and knowledgeable. i was never super popular or pretty but i placed most value on my academic success and intelligence. around the time i was 12 or 13 i started to feel depressed, i was still managing my grades tho i definitely dropped to a ~B average (our system grades us by numbers, not letters)
    i couldn’t tell you what exactly happened to me but as soon as i started high school, my grades dropped significantly and every single year i had to retake at least one subject. i wasn’t out partying, i wasn’t pursuing a hobby or career outside of school, i barely even saw the few friends i had and in the meantime, all this time went by and i have zero memories from those years. things definitely got worse during lockdown, i was so numb i feel like my whole body and brain just shut down, i barely even got up from my bed. naturally, i had to repeat my 3rd year of hs. when i was repeating the grade next year things were better because we could go to school again and my grades slightly improved, i managed to make some friends in the new class, but in the end i still failed one subject- and throughout the whole summer i just couldn’t pass that one grade. in the end i had to enrol in an adult high school program, where i ended up passing that subject and was able to continue my senior year and my grades improved again, but by april and now may (this is happening rn) i started to lose myself again and i don’t know what happened; i started failing my subjects again. i already failed 3 and if i fail 1 more, i’ll have to repeat the year again. and it really sucks because i was getting mentally better, i found out i had a passion for linguistics and i really wanted to study sinology in uni, i had motivation and i put in the work, but i just couldn’t pass those subjects. i’m really scared what’s gonna happen, it feels like all my hard work has gone to waste and just as my mom started to feel hopeful about me, she’s going to get disappointed again. i’m 20 and still in high school, if i fail now i’ll graduate at 21 instead of at 19 like my peers. i feel extremely inferior and deeply insecure because i lost the one thing i was good at and i couldn’t even tell you what caused things to get to this point. life is moving on along with people i used to know, i’m getting older yet i’m still stuck in the same place i was years ago. i don’t expect anyone to read my whole biography but i really had to put this out lol

      No I feel ya, stinqx. Also you went through high school through the fucking *pandemic*. Sure it was hard for me doing college when the pandemic happened, but god to be younger and going through it… no wonder things happened the way they did for you. I don’t really blame you. It sounds like you were trying really hard but still couldn’t get results. That… that fucking sucks. It truly does.

      Thanks man, the best thing you can do is to relax. Thinking about failure too much is dangerous, because it turns into failure sometimes. Plenty of people go to College or make good money and are happy without a degree after failing HS, but since you're stuck there, you might as well just make the most of 12th grade, if you fail or not. :)

    Im in 11th grade and im a student athlete working to play pro basketball but i have never been a good student, i did terrible 9th grade and not so well 10th grade. Which leads to me having a 1.7 gpa, i get stressed and overthink my life decisions and worry what im gonna do after highschool, especially since i wanna play pro basketball and good academics are needed as well. Currently im doing better and this video changed my perspective a bit more towards higschool. I had multiple talks with my parents about what im gonna do, my dad and mom support my sport but they always tell me that if my grades are bad then im not going anywhere with my sport. I get stressed from that and i feel like a failure, it is partially true. I wanna be someone in life that spreads positivity around me and take good care of my self. I hope my future self is doing well and happy with my decisions. If ur reading this and relate, dont over worry about it and if u need to- restart and rethink what you really want for yourself, dont let anyone tell you or force you what to do or tell you who you are. Your grades dont define you as a person. Your grades dont define how smart you are. Your gpa doesn't define what your gonna be in life. If u need to be brutally honest with your self then be it. But dont pressure ur self into thinking that ur not gonna be successful and its okay if you fail, thats only how you achieve success. Love.

    I took four AP classes online last semester, failed all of them being distracted. It's been rough trying to get through the pain of college deferrals knowing if I had just passed them or been humble and not taken them I would have had a shot. But it also has let to me realizing that I put a lot of my worth on my academic value, which is why it hurt so much. Still trying to push through and luckily I have the opportunity to graduate still on time (remedial classes) and go to a state school for what I wanna do.

    • @bedgemanagadgen1028
      @bedgemanagadgen1028 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@persononyoutube000 It will affect your GPA if you fail, which will, depending on how bad you fail it, be harder to make up for in your following high school years. If you find yourself in the low A, through B range I don't recommend quitting because harder classes like AAC/Honors or AP are good for your record, but if you consistently find yourself having a C or less as your average, consider switching out the class for something else, as it will lower your GPA if you continue to fail. Failing a class one year is extremely hard to make up for, if your goal is getting a GPA of 3.7 or above, which most universities will lean towards. Hope this helps!

      If someone you care about tells you you're a failure, it's depressing. If someone you *don't* care about says that, you wouldn't feel anything. Think that way about school, because it doesn't matter that much in the end. It just takes away the possibilities of being a doctor, lawyer, or other things that require an immense amount of mental effort.

    i'm failing high school. miserably. i didn't submit a single draft submission for any of my subjects, failed an exam, barely passed another. this video calmed me down. my parents keep telling me my life is over. i feel depressed and like a failue, especially given the reason im failing is to lack of motivation due to physical pain (ive had pelvic pain for over a year.) i just wish someone would give a shit enough to ask me why i have no motivation to do anything regarding school anymore, especially given at the beginning of last year i was motivated. people suck. this video though, thank you so much. you've given me the motivation to start a coding course and that everything will be okay. my life isn't over. high school isn't necessary. plus, there's so much i want to do in life that doesn't require high school. i want a husband, a family, to travel the world, to write children's books. who needs high school for that? no one.

    I came here again after 5-6 months. I stopped going to classes on my final sem last year (11th grade) and i thought i was going to fail. at the end i barely passed but my parents found out about my absences and that ive been lying to them this whole time. now im on my final year in high school and the midterms of first sem is coming but i haven't been going to school for almost a month now because i couldn't figure out what to do with my life. i feel so pathetic just locking myself up at home and playing games just to escape from my problems while constantly lying to my parents that ive been going to school even though im not. i dont know what course to take for college and i don't think my grades meet the requirements for a scholarship.
    i fucked up my life and i hate myself.
    i didn't have any close friends nor could i tell my parents about it because i know they would become so disappointed and frustrated at me. ive been bottling it all up that i even thought of just killing myself to end it all. i tried to fix my mindset over the few months that passed after i finished year 11 and i made no single progress. the cylce just repeats of me constantly thinking that yeah tomorrow is going to be the day for change but my mind would fuck it up over and over again and tell me that its of no use and that i should just give up. ive been stuck watching motivational videos online just so i could still hold to the hope that i would continue going to school but its of no use.
    i just can't bring myself to go no matter how many days has passed. the anxiety, fear, guilt, unmotivation and the fact that im not even friends with any of my classmates just makes me feel dreadful of even think of going. i really wanted to have someone to support me right now because i feel like everything might just crumble down and it'll be too late but I can't find anyone on my family, relatives and friends that i trust enough to talk to. they'll most likely just invalidate my feelings and tell me that i should stop being lazy and overreacting just like what my parents told me when i first opened up to them.

    My personal experience I’ve done decent in highschool the last 3 years I’ve attended (B average student) but in my senior year I’ve been letting my grades drop, my laziness was caused by not being able to understand the current material and it stresses out my brain to the point where I don't want
    to get anything done. I'm not gonna lie besides that I am still kind of lazy, but since switching schools things haven't been the same, and I've gotten a lot more sad because of it. I feel like I have to take on the responsibility of school, and I have to make myself struggle especially to get the job I want since I want to be a software engineer which with most jobs offered requires a bachelors. Not to mention I'm only in my first quarter of school and I've got two F's in important classes required to pass. I don't know what to do with myself, my parents don't know what to do with me either, and I'm slowly losing touch of reality bit by bit. I go to school to sleep, maybe complete an assignment or two, go back home in my man cave mess and spend time watching youtube videos for my entertainment. I'm scared when I get out of highschool I won't have motivation to get anything done and I'ma just be in my room all day unless my parents get me moving, It's a really scary thought but maybe I'm overthinking it all.

I went to community college then transferred to 4 yr university. And no you're not lazy, parents are honestly disconnected. Parents are supposed to help their children, it is their job! If they are yelling at you & calling you names, that's just a rejection on them & their problems. Keep your heads up yall, you're competing with yourself, not those HS people you'll never see again after graduation! The snobby ones i went to school with did nothing with there lives,, while in 10 yrs you could be killing it!!!

    the best advice anyone could really give to youth these days. Is equipped yourself with skills that people will actually pay you for. Mechanic, machinists, welders, pipe fitters, Hvac techs, plumbers, masonry etc. are all viable skills. That last I check pay a pretty good wage. Most of those professions usually don’t require a ton of tuition. And are often are willing to teach anyone with the will and desire to learn.

I wanna go back but now I don’t know what to do or where to start. My parents wasn’t also helping me at all, they basically given up on me and my dad was the worse because he didn’t did shit for me besides make the situation worse and wanted me to give up. My mental state was literally deteriorating everyday when I was going to highschool. I should’ve started talking to people instead of being in my head 24/7 and having anxiety over things that wasn’t even real. Now that I’m thinking about it I wish i had a plug or something to smoke my problems away but that probably would’ve made things worse so I just feel stuck honestly. I was tall and athletic so I easily could’ve been the type of person that was cool with everyone but I threw all that away aswell. I wish someone would’ve approached me or said hi atleast but I really letted all my problems get to me. I hate being in my house all day now because it’s killing me and it makes it worse because i’m only around my dad which he doesn’t do nothing but watch tv all day and does computer work.

    I had to repeat the chemistry and maths exam since I failed it, I finished chemistry today and it was really hard.. I think I’m going to fail. If I do I’m going to change schools I don’t want people at grade 12 see me still at 11th

      It honestly doesn't really matter. Once you turn 18, you're grown so at that point it's your decision what you want to do, staying an extra year and get a diploma isn't a terrible idea though if you can manage that

      It's hard for me to give advice to someone who doesn't feel safe because of bullying because I've never been in that situation, but it must suck. All I can say is, you know yourself better than anyone else does, so don't let the bullying get to you.

    • @willthecardude6900

      People learn things from school all the time. But I do think that school promotes blind learning and that it's up to us to see value in our classes and play along with the system as hard as that is. Even in community college or college there will be dumb prerequisite orientation classes as a way to generate revenue for teachers that don't really teach anything. I also believe that America is overly formally educated. Unfortunately school is often seen as a gateway to social and financial success when really a lot of it is the knowledge they learn that ultimately brings graduates success.

    Aerospace Engineer from a defense company: I screwed up my senior year of HS. I got rescinded from a lot of the colleges I got accepted to except the school I SIR’d to. I’m getting my second masters soon, and hopefully get promoted and go somewhere else within the aerospace industry.
    I think high school is overrated. Go to a running start program. You start college soon.

    As someone who barely Graduated High School, I wish I used the time I spent fucking around to talk to people and making new friends. Before Covid, I had a decent social life with a dedicated friend group. Then after Covid, I moved schools which caused me to lose my entire friend group and social life (It really sucked since I was friends with them since middle school). At the new School, I had very little motivation to make new friends because it was my last year and a half of high school, and I just wanted to be done with it. I made a couple friends at the new school, but I never really talked to them outside of class.

    College graduate here, 23 as well. I’m the opposite of this guy here. Went to college, got my degree… still living with my dad and also with a yearlong burnout post-graduation.
    They don’t tell you this when you get to college, but man, I wish I had cashed in on more absences, taken more breaks. Sure I can do cool art, but I could’ve learned a lot of this stuff on TH-cam.
    Basically what I’m saying is, this guy had the right idea. And don’t go to college just out of pressure to look/feel more adult.

    I regret dropping out when I was 16. I used to get in trouble a lot in school and I never did any school work. I got kicked out of my school and ended up dropping out of the second school I enrolled in. I’m 24 now trying to get my GED but it’s still super hard for me to focus on the classes.
