Hello all,
Thank you for watching my video. I do hope you like it.
Please note I am fully aware that the music in this video is not to everyone’s taste and it’s also not been edited very well and the music is very loud. I am aware of, however this video was posted over a year ago now when I first started making videos and learning the best ways to edit. I can’t remove it and re-upload it I’m sorry to say.
Thanks for watching and I hope the music didn’t cause you too much pain. If you can see through this videos and look at some of my later work, maybe you can hang around and hit the subscribe button. PS I’ve sorted out my music choice now and my editing is kinda getting better!!! I Hope..
I feel bad that you have to apologize for this. The music IS loud. But we have volume buttons/control.
This is the second video of yours that I've watched, and the music level does not deter me. You do great work! Keep the videos coming, always a plus that you're learning :)
thank you
Nice work I enjoy your video's keep up the good work very creative!
I enjoyed the music, it kicked in at the right time and I didn't find it too loud - maybe I adjusted my volume, but I don't honestly remember - that says it wasn't an issue for me, either way.
It set the tone well for the turning "montage" IMO
Well said TheKelly. People can be extremely rude on TH-cam. It's absolutely ridiculous.
Nick is single handedly keeping the color pencil people in business 4 years later.
The energy is so different, you've definitely found your pace these days. I've been bingeing your videos for 2 hours, keep up the brilliant work!
I can't wait to get my lathe one day, so many ideas.
-Anda
I enjoy watching you 'create' and this is further proof you possess the warped mind of a true artist.
I'm glad you decided to leave the 'foot' on the base.
It’s funny watching pre-wacky funky Nick vids-when you’re still all kinda calm and careful
He's like a totally different person. I started watching in just the past couple of months and it took me a while to get used to his zaniness. But after seeing the much older videos I really prefer the way he is now!
That turned out amazing! You have such talent. Thank you for all the beauty you bring in your videos. You turn a bum day into a joyful one just watching you turn anything and everything into works of art.
I like the fact that you are very safety conscious. You wear eye protection, gloves and a woodworking jacket in your shop. Excellent example for Charlie!!!
Wow! That one would make a really nice lamp base! Every time you turn it on it would highlight the colors and the fine wood grain patterns.
You’re not the Nick I began watching, I guess this was your Bob Ross era. Instead of happy little trees you have happy little pencils. You are awesome! 😂🎉❤
All one need to do a project like that is to have creative talent, know the tools and equipment needed, master the technique to use tools and materials and master them, have the knowledge needed to work with the materials, learn from your mistakes, have patience and vision, and an inquisitive & active mind, and solid motivation.
Well done sir!
Enjoyed the video very much.
I love the vase. I also love how your personality has come through in your later tutorials. You are such a talented young man Nick, keep up the great work. And please waffle in your videos.
It’s interesting to see how a TH-camr changes the longer they do videos! This must of been a video when you were just starting out bc compared to your newer videos the energy is wwwwaaaaayyyy different!!!
Oh my god, The man has just got more comfortable in what he is doing, Why yall got to be so bloody negative, I love Nicks video's
@@missmoth2588 i don't think that the comment was in any way negative, just an observation of the type and level of energy in nick's videos, and a pretty accurate one at that. not a negative comment, not a positive comment, just a comment. nothing to get excited over.
HA! Nick, i just came upon this older video. Being accustomed to your more recent Zanny videos, this one was the "Bob Ross" version of Nick, enjoyed it just the same.
Watching this in 2020 amazed at how far is on camera persona/confidence has grown.
I love the way you have grown as a TH-camr over the years.. I am not a wood worker but love seeing the things you make.
WOW!! I love it!!! 😱😍😍😍
Thank you very much
I could imagine this coming straight out of a modern art showcase. I love how the pencils can be seen beyond the surface, running through the resin.

Hi, Thank you , thats very kind of you. All the best
Your imaginativeness and your spirit are fighting for the title of 'MOST BEAUTIFUL'!
Absolutely gorgeous mate!!! great job!!
thanks mate. I appreciate that
TheTruthMayHurt
i really dont know how i stumbled upon your video, but this was really really cool.
Hey Kaiteleyenne Thank you
Looks like a great base for a lamp!
Thanks Scott. I have actually got a lamp project coming soon . All the best
Scott Oh what a great idea!!!
yes its a good gift for teachers...
I thought it was a lamp all along. Frankly, I think he took off entirely too much wood and I liked it best several shape ago (when there was much more wood one it).
Having only found your channel recently and watched about 20 of your videos from 2019-2021, it's REALLY weird seeing you so mellow.
Love the music and your tenacity.
You should try to save the shavings mix them into resin an make something out of it
Yes that's a cracking idea. will try that
Amazed to see the pencils becoming something so unique.
Thank you very much. I appreciate it
Everything about this video/project is AWESOME. Fantastic job.
Thanks man. appreciated .
My goodness your style of presentation has improved over the years!
That is so cool. Great job, man.
thank you
can you make something with pencils without using this machine...like to try something with pencils but havent got a machine so curious what you can make withour using them for once. cool video's btw. really really awsome.:)

Thank you
Watching your old videos is a trip. So different…
Perfect music choice!
ahah cheers guys.
Dude you're a freak...a genius...OMG....what an artist you are....I can only imagine how much something like that would sell for.
lol.. your too kind i wouldnt say that but thank you man
As an artist... this is so freaking awesome! I want/need one now. lol
oh my gosh, me tooooooo!
Stunning! Belongs in a museum.
Your piece is BEAUTIFUL!
thank you
I see a beautiful candle holder. A pair of them would be absolute perfection!
Absolutely love your work. Thank you so much for sharing.
Hey thanks
Wow! You are so much more comfortable with the camera now than in this video. So cool to see. It’s an awesome project and you should do more with colored pencils.
It's a piece of art! Great job and thanks for the upload.
Thanks man
Wow! I thought something was wrong! Then I noticed this was an older video! So glad you added a bit of craziness to your videos! The whole reason I watch!❤️
Awesome build. My only complaint is the music.. let the lathe and the wood do the singing.
Yes thanks Frank. KR
I agree the car alarm has to go...
Why thank you Yahoo....
I don't mind the music so much, if only the speaking and music were at the same volume. Can't hear what you're saying so i turn it up... then the music starts again... and makes the windows rattle... shakes the room... wakes the baby.. etc.. so I turn it back down.
I love that you are not afraid to use colour!
very nice! I kept seeing a lamp in this project too! lots of possibilities! I agree, with others on the music. I like to hear you talk and sound of the lathe. But still enjoyed your video!
You're beyond talented!!!!
You make some really cool items!!! Luv your work!!!
Thanks so much . i really do apprciate it
Are any of your items for sale?!!! I am thinking salad bowl, platters, plates, and pitchers? Do you have a website where you sell these items? Can you fashion goblets?
Really nice looking vase Nick & pleased to see Martin addressing your concern regarding his product. As an ex bee keeper I was confident that wasn't mould. A bit like when "liquid" honey is left on the shelf the natural sugars crystallise & it solidifies. Great project my friend & really enjoyed watching the process. Thanks for sharing .......
Geof Harris
+geofo60 Thanks Geof, yeah didn't know what it was to be fair just looked a bit weird and never seen this on my wood wax22. I didn't even know it was his product. lol. thanks for watching Geof.
Just browsing through youtube and happened upon your video.... and I watched it out of curiosity and then I saw another and another.... so fascinating! Your work is simply gorgeous. thank you for sharing with us.
That's very kind of you David. thank you for watching and commenting. its very much appreciated. I'm glad you like it. I've made this into a Lamp now. All the best
What an imagination, cool project!!
thank you
It’s not an odd shape. It’s pretty. Could be a lamp or vase either one. I really like it!
would be cool if you did this with twigs of various tree's if you haven't already
Hey Catkins, now that sounds like a plan ..
+NZ WoodTurning have a look at some scottish jewlery. i cant quite remember their name but it's petrified wood from a type of bush and dyed. it looks great
edit: its called Heather wood jewlery
Do it!
UMMM. I LIKE IT !
That IS a good idea. Being an ex Gardener, I wondered if dried dogwood which grows in bright colours, red, yellow,, etc. might also work. If I'd been Paid Out the Euromillions Lottery win I had in 2010 - I'd have set up Practical Skills/3D Printing Workshops across Scotland. We have billions of trees but virtually nowhere you can learn how to make your own table/chairs, toys, boxes etc. OR Restore things.
Beautiful work. Music was lovely. I love that last song in particular. For some reason, these wood turning videos have started showing up on my recommended videos- it's really inspiring me. I wish I could get classes to learn this.
thank you Kush, im really pleased you like it. all the best
When your an art major and u see destruction of art supplies, but beautiful craftsmanship
haha thank you
Art major myself. I was so torn between the destruction af art supplies and the creation af beautiful art FROM that destruction. Then the final piece made me go '....worth it.'
its a sin!
nice nice nice & 4 me the SONY is the cherry on top
thanks Les
I absolutely LOVE this piece of work it's a beauty!I would love to have it, I think it would make for a good base for a lamp actually. Still makes a pretty AWESOME vase! God bless!
Thanks very much . All the best
Your welcome & thank you!
No! just leave it sitting plainly on an oak table in all its simple beauty and when the wife is henpecking you can just switch off stare at it and meditate..... bliss
Beautiful Vase mate!!!! I am glad you left the lip on the bottom . Congratulations!!!! Lovely job.
Subbed ! Totally unique and beautiful! X
Thanks Elizabeth . much appreciated x
Elizabeth R
Fantastic - thanks for talking about the products you tried as well. I like your attitude. I like the pencils and also the addition of the putty colour is interesting too.
no problem at all. thanks for the comment . all the best
loved this project! how much would you sell a piece like that for, would you say? it took loads of labour time and resin isn't cheap! I take it that you sell your pieces?
Thanks Greta, I gave this one away but it would cost around £150 UK i would say . All the best
It's a lovely piece. Good work.
Thanks Lisa, very kind of you
I'd like to know how to purchase the pencil vase? The bowl? I have seen several videos of folks making these, but no one posts information to purchase them. i guess after so much work, the artist want to keep them. I must say yours is one of my favorites. Beautifully done.
Thank you Melissa
NZ WoodTurning you are very welcome. And please post purchase information if you make any to sell!!
Very, very pretty and unique!
Coming from a newer video, he sounds so timid and sad. Interesting to see how people change as they come out of their shells
I agree xx
Count the boxes then you'll know how many pencils! I like the shape as it gives circles and stripes from the pencils...its lovely!
Great music! Great to finally get something other than some old guy and his guitar singing some pasty Irish folk music :)
Hahaha cheers buddy .. That's true
Cool project, very nicely done.
cheers Stuart
Did anyone else get an ad for a *woodturning app* in the middle of this?
_When youtube isn't drunk it's a stalker_
the sound of the resin was really satisfying, just putting out there
thanks Mike
The thing that's really surprising to me is that the sides aren't totally smeared with the pigment from the pencil cores.
This was tricky, and you have to use very course sandpaper for this not to smeare. All the best
Wow. Love the pencil vase- best project yet!
wow do you have a page and sell any of this stuff........love love love the vase!!!
Glad you left the lip at the foot, It looks more classic that way. Beautiful piece mate!
Thanks buddy
And the difference between how loud your voice is and how loud the music is, is staggering..
if you want the music loud, keep it around how loud your voice is lol
but personally, I think the music should be use as a sort of background noise, super quiet, barely audible.. should hear the tools over the music lol
Thanks for the heads up, this video was an early one so hopfully i have fixed this problem now. Thanks for watchig
I love watching people turn wood, and your accent is so sweet ^_^ your vase turned out really nice
Thanks for your comments and of course for watching . All the best
Awesome idea, awesome product.
Love it!
But, I really have a complaint about that music from 13:35 to 20:22.
If only this came in my recommend a seven months earlier...
Yeah that music is too loud and obnoxious over such an interesting video
Stop judging the music preference of other people. None of your business.
thanks Jack. All the best
Why NOT judge the music preference of other people, when they post stuff with background music that irritates? If it detracts, in your opinion, say so. It IS some of your business to say so in a public forum! It's not about judging, you doofus.
MrPossumeyes If you enjoyed the project then stfu. I am tired of you whiny little bi***s always whining. If you dont like the video dont watch, simple as that. Wow, who would have thought that there was such a solution Oo.
Hello Nick, I thought you might be feeling sick until I looked at the date published, May 6 2014 (my birthday). The video is great, I liked the music, what a long way you’ve come. I’ll never do wood turning but love seeing it done, you’re such fun and very imaginative, a joy to watch. I used to watch a guy on public television here in the US, he turned the very old way, no power, used a treadle, branch and rope! Thank you for sharing with us.
Better take the ring/watch off before you take a finger off! Harder to wood work with only 9 fingers.
Thaks for wathcing . All the best
Like you said take off that ring and watch and i would put elastic bands on my sleeves
RU Aware loose clothes especially sleeves are lethal
I'm really happy you left the bottom part on I think it looks beautiful! Very talented!
Really great video, just want to have a go at this technique myself. On a downside like to hear the sound of turning (indicates how hard/ softly pressure being applied) rather than really bad repetitive music.
Thank you sir. All the best
Hello Nick! This must be the oldest video I have watched and I had to keep making sure I was watching you because there was no quirkyness. Still got the thumbs up! Keep up the amazing work!
I love the work, amazing stuff but please don't use music like this. It ruined the whole video for me.. I love the noise of you working on it. It's really relaxing
Thanks Sexy, appreciated. All the best
Omggg i loveeeee your work!!!! And watched this after your new ones...I was thinking what's wrong, why is he so sad!!!!! I love your enthusiasm and your goofy self!!!!!
if you market it as an artist urn trust me you will make a mint because i don't think there isn't an artist alive that wouldn't want that as their final resting place....for real dude you as sitting on money
haha . never thought of that really. it would actually make a cool funky urn wouldn't it.. umm
I agree mr right clean up crew, I want one for my art room!!!!
Beautiful piece! Very ambitious. I personally like the dubstep, it relaxes me, but I get that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Keep up the great work, and God bless!
Hi
Can one buy this vase ?
Hey, I will be making some more soon and get them on my website. www.nzwoodturning.co.uk

NZ WoodTurning ,Awsome!!!! You do beautiful work and would love to give one of your colored pencil pieces to my wife!!! I'll browse your website, thanks and continue your beautiful artwork!!
o
0.0 wire wool is great for cutting back and getting surfaces really smooth.beautiful effect with the pencils, great idea mate.
A great looking piece, I prefer the round pencil and resin combo. Where did you get the bulk resin from ? Cheers, Jim
+Jimson's Stuff Hey Jim, thank you. just off eBay mate. £50 it cost. All the best
+NZ WoodTurning cheers mate, I need some for a non-woodworking project. Jim
Its a cool conversation piece. It has so many dimensions and textures. It's great!
Thank you sir. I really appreciate the comment. All the best
Love the pencil project!! Looks like a bottle for a genie!!!
Another gorgeous project Nick! Over one million views!
Very interesting!! And quite brave of you to do a new project and put it out there for all to see, good or disastrous. Fortunately it's awesome!!
haha cheers Ellie
I love watching you evolve in your video's, can't wait to the actual turningpoint to your wickedness! Love these early video's too! 🤗🤗
Just Beautiful! I'm in Luv with this Vase!!!!!!
Thank you so much Katherine
Beautiful Bohemian vase!
this would have been an awesome lamp as well. Beautiful Piece!
That turned out great. It's interesting to go back and watch the ones I missed by joining the channel later on.
That turned out really cool! Very odd, I love it!
looks great Thanks for taking the time to share the process
No problem Michael, I'm glad you lied it sir
There's something about this that is extremely satisfying.
I love it, I love the shape and I'm glad you left th bottom on, well done
So satisfying watching this project evolve. I enjoyed this video immensely; however nothing beats the fun and funky Nick! I'll watch whatever you put out there. All so interesting and outside of my realm. So glad I found your videos.
